Ancient armor question.

I was just wondering, do I need to complete the gates of desolation in order to buy anicent armor, or would I be able to get it by being run the the outpost?

A simple yes/no answer will do.

You have to destroy the darkness to gain entrance to the bone palace, so I don't believe you can just be run there.
