Community Day Dev Roundtable Discussion - 26 January
2 pages • Page 2
I made a couple of corrections for things people noted.
Also, throughout the visit people did try to get info about Ch 4 and other "important" things, but these were all pretty much just not commented on. Even the timelines for things were not discussed, in large part I think due to the high level of uncertainty the devs have themselves about when thing would be done.
The way the process seems to work is that they have major things they work on, like new chapters, bugs/corrections to existing chapters, and then wish list things they try to incorporate. So they are constantly prioritizing what needs to be worked on more, balancing updating old content and bringing out new content.

Yes, it was very obvious that ANet was willing to clarify things happening now in GW, but reluctant to comment on the future.
I appreciated their "not against farming" statement. While it won't make farmers "happy," it at least reassures them that they are not on ANet's "got to get rid of" list.
The discussion about HA was also interesting. It seems they are caught between a rock and a hard place by trying to draw new people to this area of PvP. I suppose they are waiting to see what happens before making a final party-size decision.
@Billiard - in the Player Wants portion, did they give any indications of possibilities as each "want" was mentioned? Especially storage.

When the wants were mentioned, there was like a nod from James indicating that they knew about it and were working on it - except maybe for that whole jump thing.
The auction house question actually came up again later when one of the Spanish guys asked about it again. At that time James said "its on the way." So I said okay its on the way - cool, then James amended his statement to say not to indicate it was coming in the next month.
So to me, I am guessing stuff like storage and such that pretty much is understood as being really needed are indeed in the pipeline - but it just depends when they can find the time to finish them up.
Also, I really do appreciate the feedback on the reports. I do quite a bit of academic writing, but not this sort of thing, so I wasn't sure exactly how best to present the information I collected. I looked at what some of the other sites put up and really wanted to amply things a lot more. Again as I did with my trip report, I wanted to try to give people a notion of what the experiece was like in the roundtable, rather than just dryly present the information I learned.

If people have questions about something, I'll do my best to answer them and/or explain some of the context of things a bit more since there is a lot that I left out in my write-up.
Please don't post unconstructive rants in this thread. The devs are not going to respond here and there are plenty of other places to post to concerns and dislikes on our forums.

Thanks-and nice report man. |
So my impression from the roundtable is that increased storage is being worked on and it won't be an additional fee. No timetable was suggested though.

yeah lots of words and nothing said..........except 'we know about it' 'no comment', and then lets change the subject. Too bad these guys are gamers since they would make wonderful politicians!
The fact is, if they had said "soon" everyone would go OMG ITS COMING NEXT WEEK! They let us know what they were working on, but it would be wrong to give a time frame and then not make the deadline... Admit it, there are just way too many people with ready pitchforks for them to be careless about those things.
Even one day late is enough to make the masses gather the torches.
Great report Billiard, it answered some of my questions and concerns. Thank you for your hard effort ^_^!
