as you have probably noticed, nearly all of the warrior's defensive stances have been drasticaly changed. i for one, absolutley love the stance changes. defensive stance is now an awsome and worth-while skill. its especially good to ward off quick and unexpected assassin spikes. for defense now, im currently using "watch yourself", soldiers defense, and defensive stance at 12 tactics.

just wondering if anyone is taking these changes as a buff or nerf...

I personaly dont use def stances.I preffer tiger stance but the new change is good coz u can use them on the case not for like 4-5 secs and after that u have to w8 the long cooldown.the crapy thing for me is the removing of evade!i dont know why but i liked it !

well, from the response from the last test weekend (there were 3 different threads discussing stances), your average pve warriors dont like the changes. they like having the long lasting stances so they can "fire and forget" and with the durations between battle, the huge cool downs apparently dont bother them.

i think all of this is worthless though, as you shouldnt be running a stance tank these days in pve. the gear trick is dead, time for warriors to get back to being DPS machines with their inherent dmg mitigation. you can still use these stances and keep them up non stop if you have to. but you should really just be using them for some temporary dmg mitigation to help out the monks. just my two cents...

as for pvp, its a boost. long lasting stances with huge cool downs are worthless in pvp. remember distortion? when was the last time you saw whirling d on anything other than an oath shot? in pvp, the "fire and forget" will never see use, while the new "on-demand" stances will actually see some use to help catch spikes.

but you will see lots of young warriors come in here and complain that their mighty stances have been destroyed...

Farmers will miss the long duration stances.

I'm a PvE'er and much prefer armor boost and offense, only for specific purposes did I ever use a defensive stance-heavy build.

Enemies tageting is so erratic anyway that things like Gladiators and Ripostes are never any guarantee that you'll inflict damage with them, unless you're solo or in a good group that handles aggro well. Even then it is iffy.

I like the stance updates, I never liked the long recharge of the stance skills. It seemed they were useless for the most part except to stop damage for a few seconds anyways. So you'd end up stoping some damage then have to wait 30 seconds after the stance ended to use it again. Now it's like 10 seconds in between stance usage.

I like it. Watch Yourself! + 8s Soldier's Defense (10s recharge) is extremely good. Stance switching is much easier.

I have never been much for stances (Physical/Elemental Resistance excepted) until Soldier's Stance came out with the release of Nightfall. With the high armor of a warrior I never really had a problem with damage that could not be solved with "Watch Yourself", so I never bought into the need for many of the stances that are considered mandatory by so many. Four attacks, heal, rez, "Watch Yourself" and a free slot for "whatever" always seems to get me through just fine.

So, back on topic, I would have to say that a third answer to the question applies: neither. I reckon it all depends on if you see your job as a warrior to be either standing around waiting for others in your party to do the killing, or utilizing your very high (and very sustainable) DPS to do the killing.

The stance changes it good for /W professions that can stop melee pressure or trains. Bad for Warriors because now our stances are being used against us.

I don't care about the stance changes.

What warrior would use them anyway?

The changes Anet(ArenaNerf) made were un-needed... They could of decreased skill recharge but any farther than that would of been bad...

The stance changes affected warriors(Good or bad, depends on what it was being used for) but buffed the crap out of stance monks. Nothing like popping defensive stance to barely take any damage through a shadow prison sins attempt on your life.

I think a buff like this wasn't uncalled for. Seriously though, stop calling them ArenaNerf. Count the number of nerfs over the past 2 years, and the number of buffs. They did way more buffs, and only nerfed when things got out of hand.
