are you hardcore GW?
Deadpool Syx
I'm curious as whom plays GW exclusively.
Are most of you WoW (or any other MMO) players and log on GW for a break?
Or is GW your primary source of MMORPGing? As for me, I only play GW because 1. it's free 2. I dont have to invest 12 hours a day to grind up to cap level. (20 is alot quicker to obtain than level 70).

Right, lets clear this up to show my GW Pro-ness...
GW Is Not An MMO!
but yes, I consider myself a pro gamer, but only as i play all of the game, both PvE and PvP... the nittygritty of the PvP and build testing etc, I leave to better people in my guild and inthe community, but I can pretty much cover anything in the game...
I actually play other games to take a break from GW's

GW is my first and only MMORPG!
I used to play Diablo/DiabloII - Dungeon Siege - Sacred and Titan Quest, but now I play only GW!
When I need a break I just read a good book!

the poster that said GW isn't an MMO says so because once u leave a town, ur on ur own, w/a maximum of 7 other ppl. He's got that drilled into his/her head so doesn't consider it an MMO.
...and plz..... don't get Star Wars Galaxies.
it was a fun game, my first MMO. Played it religiously for 2yrs. Met alot of good ppl there, too. Was a tight knit community. but SOE d!cked millions of subscribers w/no vaseline. Ask any SWG'er. but hey, im sure someone will come by and say swg is a great game, dont hate, etc.
imho...overall, the game isn't nearly up to par as it once was in it's prime, back in '04. Most towns are deserted, as most subscribers left the game entirely due to SOE's negligence/ignorance. I went back last year when they reactivated everyone's account for 2wks free. I quit again soon after it was up.
here's an article u can read that will sum up the game from an unbiased source.

Actually not just that, MMO, by creation cannot be instanced and as even the towns and outposts are instanced with a maximum of 100 player slots available in each, it can't be a MMO...
By gameplay and build of the game, Guild Wars is actually more of an Online Action Adventure... Damn Hellgate London is more MMO than Guild wars as you can meet up with anyone at any time anywhere
Besides, its not even a real RPG either, but thats a debate for another time and place on the forum

This is my first RPG as well and I play a lot! So, not much to compare it to since it was also the only game I had tried, until two days ago, when I installed Titan Quest. (my son works for Iron Lore and I figured I should check it out)
So, hardcore? Meaning way too much time spent playing? Guilty. Meaning I spend time thinking of great builds and dream of winning HA? Nope. I happily play PvE, and have just recently realized that I have improved since I started out (from the last beta weekend on). So, maybe in a another year or so, I will feel comfortable enough to attempt PvP! Who knows what that will look like then? But I'm pretty sure I will still be playing GW.

in fact, we're currently polling the guild to see what other games we all want the guild to shift into. 2142, Archlord and Quake Wars: Enemy Territory are on the current list. On person mentioned WoW and the entire guild jumped on him for being stupid

I actually have to play other games just to get a break from GW! There are so many things to do if you are active in all aspects of the game.
My advice: Try everything!

GW is the only MMORPG (Don't start the debate about whether it os or not) I play. I play about the same kinda amount on CounterStrike source as well.
Deleet
The only serious online game i play.
Else i like to play Trackmania Nations and Warcraft 3: TFT on LAN.

I play GW for 12 hours or more, I also play BHD when I feel like it, but yes you should try everything when it comes to MMO.
icedragon981
I mainly play GW but I took a break not too long ago to play Rappelz (Korean-translated MMO, it's still in development, second jobs aren't out yet.) but that got boring so I came back to GW. Now I'm playing GW and America's Army: SF as my online gaming with FFXll and LoZ: TP for console.

On topic, I stopped playing GW for a good while since I bought 2142, But I've recently been spending a fair amount of time on it, since I want value for my money rather than having bought it, then not doing anything with it. Plus, it's the only online RPG I have, while my bro plays WoW, and doesn't like GW.
Ashleigh McMahon
It's currently is my primary MMORPG(Yes it is an MMORPG )
That will not change within the foreseeable future.

Playing GW most of the time.
Sometimes my fiancee wants to play Unreal Tournament (2004).
And I have LotR Battle for Middle Earth when I want to game and know I might have to quit suddenly (you can't save your in-mission progress in GW).
More is not really possible with a full time job, house keeping and a relationship.

I don't care what GW is, I play it for the pvp <3
tre_peter
It's my only online-RPG game. I refuse to pay a subscription. Now that I don't play CS anymore, it's my only online game. As I only play for 1-2 hours a day, I don't get bored, but when I don'te feel like it, I've a few offline games to keep me happy, many currently unopened.
ikpt
I'm back to Guild Wars as a break because at the moment I have no other games to play. I've recently played: KotOR, KotOR 2, Tantra/Kathana III (free MMO), Rappelz (free MMO), Subspace: Continuum, and I'm in the 2Moons closed beta (free MMO).
I've been back to Guild Wars for a full week, and I'm already incredibly bored and ready to uninstall. Again.

I used to hop online games all the time. Diablo 2, SC, WC3, EQ, DAOC, RO, WoW, RF, and now GW. Well, I've actually been at the game since beta, and I'm quite surprised I haven't quit yet. I'm really addicted to the game, and consider myself 'pro' at PvE. I'd probably be average at PvP, but I can't be sure as I don't do that a lot. Maybe a few times a month or something.
I play GW at least a few hours a day. I've marathoned 12 hours once when I was really bored and had nothing else to do. Finished Factions with 2 characters and halfway through it with 4 others that day.
So yes, I'd consider myself a hardcore GW player. I play all aspects of the game, from PvP, to farming. I play a lot, and don't play around in othersuch things (online games). I immerse myself in GW content, and spend a lot of time thinking about it. That's my personal definition of hardcore, and I happen to fit.

More Outrage
I consider myself to be a hardcore GW player with an average of 8 hrs play every day for the last 8 months and will continue to be as long as the game holds my interest, probably for the next year or so. The only other game that will grab my attention will be the next Grand Theft Auto but other than that I can`t be bothered, even stopped buying the gaming magazines. In fact after this game I plan on giving up gaming and moving back to programing.
Kakumei
I only play GW because every other game ever sucks.
Saint Echo
I have been online gaming for 10 years and i have never gotten addicted to anything like GW. I'm retired at the ripe old age of 39, so i have lotsa time to feed my addiction(10-14 hrs daily)
I tried WoW but i just could not see the point when there was already a superior product such as guild wars out. I love the game and will play it till the pry my key board from my cold dead hands!!!!!

I've been playing GW for about 15 months now exclusively. I have the CE for each and love them all. I was actually out of gaming before and picked up GW out of sheer curiosity (free online play what's to lose?) I would never bother with WOW anyway because i dont agree with pay to buy AND pay to play....no thanks. As long as ANet keeps up the good work Im here to stay.
darktyco
Been playing GW exclusively myself. If UT3 is good enough to bring back a solid competitive ladder community I will definitely be switching to that.
Dougal Kronik
Only play GW - no monthly fee.
It takes a lot of time to manage a guild, alliance, website, and forums.
If I need a break, I leave my computer.
Though, I will admit, Lord of the Rings Online looks interesting with the Lifetime Membership deal - if a bit expensive.

Perkunas
Got bored with Diablo 2, lost interest in Dungeon Seige when I got GW. I have played more than 2500 hours of GW (Prophesies) in 14 months. I still find it interesting and challenging as I try each character class.
erfweiss
I only play this one. A veteran of Diablo II and Sacred. Would I call myself hardcore? Probably not. Only based on the fact that I have to juggle my gametime in with a wife and 2 kids (both under 5). So it's really hard to classify me in that. 1500 hours in 17 months isn't hardcore in my book.
RinLian
I used to hop a lot of free MMOs and would always leave disappointed. I started working at a computer shop to where every last one of the workers there played GW and suggested that I should try it. I fell in love with the artwork before I even sat down to play it. One of my co-workers let me try out his extra account and I've been playing since.
It has yet to really disappoint me. So GW is my primary game right now. I play PvP and PvE almost equally, though it all depends on my mood. I just hit the first gladiator title the other day and I'm wanting to take my monk over to factions to get some nice armor. I also have all 3 campaigns. I haven't tried places like HA/HoH, but I'm getting there... :P

GW was my primary game but when all goals were achieved soon after NF came, I moved to WoW till next chapter comes. Guild Wars is an excellent way to relax & escape from MMO's that have more micromanagement.
I'm still trading in GW though.

Westofeden
The only games I play are Guild Wars, Oblivion, CS:S, CS 1.6, and CS:CZ.
But I'm starting to get into Dark Messiah also.
I've tried WoW and CoH. They both got boring way to fast.

You people that call yourselves "pro" crack me up. Do you get paid to play this game? Have a contract with someone from A-Net or Play NC?

Anyways, back on topic.
I play about 6-10 hours a day, probably enough to call me hardcore. I play Insta Gib Capture The Flag in UT2004 to take a break from GW every now & then.
Pro lol
cosyfiep
this is the only online game I play.....otherwise I have played some computer games (civ, middle earth, etc). and I own all three chapters all with CE (got the CE for chp 1 recently). Hard core enough? and when I am not working I am usually either playing or reading this forum (or watching the pages load ever so slowwwwllllly).
Tuoba Hturt Eht
I have only have time to play Guild Wars nowadays, work and life means no time for other games.
Growling Badger
I have played SWG and others, kinda lost my wife through SWG (she had other issues!) but I see the main difference as GW you can switch ofo, not play for a month, come back it doesn't leave you miles behind your buddies. It doesn't consume your life! I also play Battlefield 2142.
