Mysterious Ecto's

What you are seeing is a hording affect. Since ebay is not allowing people to sell virtual items anymore people are buying up all stocks of ecto. We also have about 2 months till chapter 4 is released. Before every chapter everyone sales off all their items to get gold so they can buy new things from the next chapter. New FoW armor is released with the new chapters so Ecto prices once again rise.

The hoarders are simply starting early while the prices are decent and a reaction to the ebay shock. They will wait until after the release of chapter 4 to sell off all their stocks.

Ecto is also used a currency that is why you do not see shards going up.

so in other words what twicky is saying that before every chapter it is every farmers wet dream because prices jump up and you get alot more for what you do.

lol, I'm poor ( but i got like 3 sets of fow and perfect pimped out 15k armor chars, warrior has like 5 15k sets + fow. 10k in storage gogo! (8 pves xD)

Trader prices sky rocket because you can buy 5million gold for $20 on e-bay and your storage can only hold 1million gold so the e-gayers by from trader so they can get their e-gold faster lololol

Here's a very informative thread where I gave a quick analysis of what's going on with ectos.

In summary, ectos will continue to rise until right before the next chapter comes out. As twicky kid referred to above, with the loss of very precious items in the game, people need to invest their wealth in something else - and therefore they purchase ectos.

250 ectos in 5 days? lol no way at all.

Personaly I think that NC-Soft should make it so that every monster drops several ecto's thus flooding the market to break up the "Ecto Economy". This will solve 2 problems. 1 if the ecto numbers jumped then their wouldn't be a need for farmers to get them, 2 it will kill all the players who collected ecto's just because they were high priced.

we should be seeing a difference coming shortly now that Ebay has taken a stance on removing virtual item sales from the sites... of course this won't stop sales as most of these companies have sites aswell, however, it will help

anyways.. sidenote my bf got around 120 ectos (for FoW) in about 4 days? farming on two accounts, one euro one american. and switching between the two depended on who has favor.

i made a max of 20 ectos per day (before sv nerf) just to buy my mesmer some pieces of fow.(and i'm not 'hard core')

so i guess if you have no life, then yes, you can get alot of cash..

Yeah, getting 250 in a matter of a few days does seem a little far fetched.

I'm happy right now with my one and only ecto. I've even gone a little far and named it "ecto 2".

You have had plenty of good posts yourself. I think when things start to either veer off in the wrong direction or get a little tense, a swift kick of humor sort of makes the day a little better.

I'm thinking that it's impossible to farm 250 ectoplasm in 5 days... My logic? Well, ecto drop rates are swirling the drain. In 7 runs last night, I only got 2 ecto. So farming 250 ecto in 5 days? Good luck with that. It is, however, possible to BUY 250 ecto in less than 5 days (0 gold to 2000k)...

Running will net you (droks run) 20k every 15 minutes. This allows you to buy 2 ecto after each run. In 125 runs, you can make 250 ectoplasm. 125 runs will take around 1875 minutes, or 31.75 hours. So, with a little luck, you can make 250 ectoplasm in as little as TWO days, if you have almost no life.

Obviously someone is ignorant of how hard it is to learn another language which is based upon a completely different alphabet, and is jealous because they can't get 250 ectos in 5 days ;P

True, I agree. It is definitely possible to BUY the ecto. I am sure plenty of people have done that. If that was the case, I don't think we would be continuing this thread. Curar though, was referring to farming 250 ectos from UW, which is a little hard to achieve in a 5 day period.
