Main menu extremely laggy

Here's the problem:

When I'm at the main menu, my fps drops down to 5. The weird thing is, when I select my character and get in game, my fps goes back to normal. This has never happened before. I suspect that it's that thing that downloads stuff when you idle at the main menu, so is there a way to turn that off?

To my knowledge, there is no way of preventing download when you are on the main menu screen. Personally i dont experience any kind of drop besides 1to 2 fps from time to time on the menu screen which is kinda normal considering i usually run other programs while i play. Anyways it would help to know whats your average fps while you play the game and what kind of system you are using.

No, there is no way to turn it off. But you can download all the updates doing -image. That way you don't have to download anything from background.
