Early Game Derv Questions

Experts,

I am still in pre, as you'd say, and I am finding myself questioning my Dervish progression.

My typical engagement goes down like this:

Vital Boon
Heart of Holy Flame
Twin Moon - ends Holy Flame and lights everyone on fire for 4 seconds
Chilling Victory
Hope mobs are dead

If I need some healing, I end Vital Boon with Signet of Pious Light, nets me over 100 hps.

I am down into the Bog now, and I seem to get rocked pretty regularly. It turns more into a Heart of Holy to light people on fire, then just waiting for Vital Boon to recharge so I can heal myself before I die. Then Heart of Holy again.

My other skills are Pious Assault (which I don't really use), Sunspear Rez and Mesmers Backfire.

Normal scythe (10-31 req7) with blue guided by fate on it.

Attributes:
Domination - 7 - Backfire does 84 damage, only way I can seem to kill healers and fleeing spellcasters

Scythe Mastery - 10+1
Earth Prayer - 7
Mysticism - 6+3 - 9 Mystic gives Holy Flame a 4 second burn.

Just asking for a little guidance. Is there some common Derv thought that I am just overlooking?

Should I be just enchanting the crap out of myself and going Mystic Sweep?

Does Mystic Vigor heal as you hit, or when the enchant ends?

Regards,

Umar ibn al-Khattab

mystic vigor is a great heal, with a few other enchants on you(heals like 24 per hit). definatly drop the entire domination line. backfire isnt helping you. and drop pious assault if you arent using it, mystic sweep is way more useful. look into unlocking some skills (espically mystic regeneration) in PvP so you can get better survivability. just fumble your way throught until you get to lvl 20 and get some elites and the fun really starts.

First thing: You're attributes are too spread out, I suggest compressing your build to 3, 2 if possible attributes. My dervish personally uses 3 dervish attributes, omitting wind prayers (not of much use.) I only am a D/W for Wild blow, which will be insanely helpful if you're PvE, as kournan bowmen use blocking stances extremely often. (You should be able to access the profession changer before you face them, but it's not as big of a threat. It does eventually run out and spellcasters can cut them down to size, but using Wild Blow will definately speed the process up.)

chilling victory and Vital boon are must haves for me. The vital boon can upgrade your health and increase the requirements to make CV a very powerful hit.

I have had vigorous spirit on my warrior and it practically left me as a self healing tank, mystic vigor will definatly help dervishes for tanking as vigorous spirit helps warriors

depends on the warriors, a dervish can go for high dmg hits with 16 scyth or some can have lower dmg but can outank ur average warrior, so with the right build a dervish is great as a tank, i have seen many dervishes last longer tanking than warriors in a big fight
