Guide:
Go from the gate of anguish into Stygian Veil. Go ahead and talk the Adept of whispers and accept the quest "Breaching The Stygian Veil". Also talk to the whispers informant for double XP and Lightbringer points.Then go to the north east and wait until all the stygian monsters are standing around the Adept of whispers. Now move into the center and lay down your traps. Put the traps in the following direction: 7-8-6-1-2-3-1-2-1-4-3-2-1-4-5-3-4-5-2-3-2-4 on position1 of the screen. Always keep Serpent's Quickness up after the first use. After you layed down the traps activate the spirits again, this time on postion2. You can also lay another trap wire on position3 to knock down enemies that want to follow you. The positions on the screenshot should work on the first two groups. Then pull down the groups and run away. The groups will first follow you, and the attack the spirits. While they are attacking the spirits, the traps will activate, and they will get a lot of damage and also knock down. This should kill all the groups. Now you should quickly move away, because the next will spawn and run to the Adept. With a litle practise you can trap all the first part of the quest.
*Litle hint: For the first time you can take a monk hero with you and let him stay at the start. He can "rebirth" you, if some of the monsters will kill you.

- Stygian Gemstones
- Golden stuff (Found some Igneous Blade, Shadow Axe and Gloom Shield)
- A lot of white and blue Stuff
- NO money

awesome!! question, have you tried trappers speed instead of SQ? I just ask because its 100% coverage and with the spirits AND speed the speed boost for laying would actually come in handy I'd think.

Tried it in the beginning, but I need to activate the spirits at the end, an with trappers speed the traps activated to early. Maybe I will give it another try now. But you can also try it by your own and tell us how it works.

Meh.... i do it the exact same way. Except i use 2 trapper heros and make em bugger off before i lure.

More traps, safety net and the same drops as a solo run.

Solo builds are overrated these days

hmm, one could likely 'solo' UW (or practically anywhere for that matter) with 3-4 trappers. Of course this isn't a revelation to most... but I took a looong leave of absense from farming after the toucher soloing in Factions.

It's not because you gotta that made soloing cool, it's because you can...

In a place that doesn't involve enemies who hit for 300+, hit through blocks, steal life, use a move speed boost, refuse to stop chasing a target, cause crippling and come in large numbers... i'd agree.

Sadly Stygian Veil involves all of those. Personally i'd rather be able to get a drop than be chased down by insane Stygian Golems...

So u use Arcane Echo then u use Echo on Dust trap and then u Echo Dust trap Again for the massive amount of dmg and the energy cost of dusttrap is reduced by energizing winds and trip wire and barbed trap are the knock downers right?

Any inscribable +10 energy staff, put a +5 energy staffhead on it, and get the 5^50% inscription and voila.

Then you take a +5 energy upgrade, and a +5E^50 upgrade. Then you have a staff with E+20, because you will always have ^50 while you are trapping. For practise I think a +15E Staff should work, too.

I use EoE instead of barbed trap since these creatures don't bleed.

as you can see, tripwire knocks down crippled. If you are running with others then by all means accesorize with eoe, but barbed trap is necessary.

i really cant get this to work, stayed up all night and took my ranger from sunspear sancuary to the end of the game just cause of this and cant get it , i can get them all to about 5-10% health , or sometimes kill half of them but only half kill the others, im doing it exactly as described i nthe guide + video but its not enough to be effective, nowere either, so either its nerfed or im doing SOMETHING wrong, but i tried it about 60 times now and still the same, gg me

EDIT - 61st try is ftw it seems 0.o killed all the first group, cant agro all the second onto the traps at one time yet tho

but still its weird, i do exactly the same thing everytime, and i mean exactly, but each time the results are different , so this aint efficient at all imo

Hey, very good build. I just tried this morning and works great especially on first group. Now on the second group I can kill half as the stygian horrors either evade the traps but they just don't stop, lol. I'll keep trying to see. Alos, all drops have been white nothing good so far. Again, great build.

It might have been already said...but this build must be exact to what the OP says. I tried modifying it and it just dosent work. Also when you lay the 7ths dusttrap and QZ is finished....THEN go lay it in spot #2 lay the extra tripwire then go back and echo dustrap and then barbed again. Has anyone gotten past the golems. I havent. I just cant seem to get them to die but it dosent phase me because jus the first 3 groups usually averages around 1-4 gems. I farmed useing this for a short 5 hours and got a total of 64 gems. Its awsome. If there are any tips on getting past the golems please post. Keep up the good work.

From what I've seen from trapping so far and why it's unreliable while solo trapping anything but the Stygian Hungers is because of the stygian horror's elite, Bull's Charge, as well as the Stygian Golem's Harrier's Haste.

Obviously, these two skills lets these baddies run faster so they can catch you and rape you.

Well, if you just observe traps a little bit, you'll notice that your traps don't activate immediately upon stepping on them, especially with large mobs(ie, trolls/stygian freaks). The way the game mechanics seem to work is to get the entire mob on the area before the big boom boom. Stygian Horror/golems, however, get to the two spirits way before the hungers do, so they sprint there, kill the spirits in two hits, and start charging after you without the traps going off, since the traps are waiting for a bigger congregation with the Stygian Hungers. when the hungers get there though, the traps do their thing, things die, stygian gems drop. Meanwhile, you're hauling ass to vainly try to escape to pick up those gems.

solution? bring some heroes and fill them with trapsand MUddy Terrain. IIRC once they're out of radar range you get all the drops, someone'll have to clarify that, but that's just one reason why it's so hard to kill the whole mobs sometimes.

Been considering Muddy Terrain recently though so i don't have to keep sacrificing myself to stop the rampaging Golems/Horrors reaching the traps too quickly. EoE is seeming a bit useless since its normally dead before the traps go off.

The second group nearly always dies just doing it solo. The Speed difference between the golems and the hungers is usually counteracted by the delay in traps, and they all die.

The problem is the third group. The Fiends just auto-rape the spirits from range right as you pull them, and everything just runs through the traps at you.

Thats why it is mostly just a first two waves thing. After Wave 2, if you DO survive you most likely have to trap 2-3 times to kill the whole groups :\

\ didn't read the entire post because im lazy =p im not that experienced with this area and if this would work or not.
You could try bringing a hero with muddy terrain and putting him out of range.
Sorry if this isn't possible/wont work

Tried it 5 times now. 3 times last night, and twice in the last 15 minutes. I cant seem to kill them all. D: I get either most, if not all, down to like maybe 10% HP, or like maybe 5 survive.

Same build, and same trapping spots. I tried placing the tripwires aroudn the area to try and trip some who try and wonder, which seems to work much better then doing exactly the spots outlined in the video. Since that way i'm able to kill more at once, but still some survive.

I see that other people run into the same issue. I'll try more runs later tonight after I get this silly php assignment done.

Stats:
Beast - 3
Expertise - 15
Wilderence Survivial - 16
Lightbringer - 2

POSSIBLY you need to be rank 3 or more. But,, i dunno. I'm close to lb3, something like 400 points away. I'll reach that in the next few days. Only like 200 more kills. A few runs in Vabbi should do it. But until then, can anyone confirm if LB rank has anything to do with it?
