Hotkey for storage
bokonoko
Checking the storage box is one of the things people do most often in towns, so would it not be great if ANET could put a hotkey for the storage similar to F9 to see all inventory. e.g press F10 open storage box

shing jea monastery annoys me, it isn't too far but just annoying. Kaineng isn't great too. Actually, most of factions xunlai agents are evasive, seeming it's where they come from they should show it a little. In Nightfall it gets better.
Edit: Nope, i'm just lazy

I'd take it a step further, and ask for a menu of all functional NPC's. That way, you enter the city, click the menu and your toon runs where it needs to go, without searching Vasburg Armory (what were they thinking?) or wherever.
Xenex Xclame
If we get this, then whats the points of having the agents there in the towns?
Aeon_Xin
It's almost like no one reads stickies or uses search.
This is a clone thread, and I've seen 2 brand new ones in the last 3 days.
I actually thought this was the same thread.....they were that similarly named.
And there are even 10 mods online, so, hm....makes ya wonder..

If this is taken away, the Rice Cakes (or whatever they sell in Cantha to make you go faster in-town), will be useless =(
Then I also agree with Xenex, if there's a hotkey, why the agents?

Im a bit confused.
You want to access storage anywhere, at any point in the game by pressing a hotkey?
Or you want a hotkey to access storage when in a town/camp/city?
Neither are a good idea and a bit pointless. They both remove the point of having a banker in towns. Whats the point of having an NPC banker in a town if your not going to actually walk up to her and speak to her?
How would that be a banking service anymore? It would basically be an invisible extra bag that you just carry around with you that you can access at any time.
Its not as if its a huge walk to find one, or a staggering effort to talk to her. It takes maybe a few seconds.
Even if they had a hotkey, that you could press when next to the banker to speak to her and activate your storage, that would be the height of lazeyness.
Why do you need such fast access to your storage anyway? just put stuff into your bag and carry it if you plan to sell fast.

Exactly my sentiments.
Hmm... a weird question there... seems to imply that farming, questing, going to the merchant, chatting, trading, heck even playing GW, is not really time wasting.

Why are you playing an RPG MMO if you dont want to be moving back and forth between locations and you dont want to have to keep speaking to NPCs to access stuff?
They are fundimental parts of an RPG and an MMO. The storage/bankers (been while since played, cant remember names) are part of the fundimental world and feel of GWs. The need to speak to a banker or a storage keeper to access stuff in "storage" is key to that.
If you dont like moving around and doing repetative actions and activities, Im confused why your playing a game like GWs. Most quests are "go to this location and speak to..." or "collect this many of this item"!
The entire game is based around moving to and from points in the game over and over and over again.
Sorry I went off on a rant there.

great idea
Want to RP? Then don't use the hotkey. Want to RP? Then go outside in your robe and wizard hat and yell "lightning bolt! lightning bolt!" at the neighbor's dog.

Bit more on a different topic but somewhat the same.
Change the location of the storage in Gate of Torment.

I can see moving the storage to an easier local, but not having a storage button, in addition to the fact that a button could be abused by people that know how to do that sort of thing....

It would make it easier if they had signs pointing to the elusive xunlai agents(vasburg and gate of torment) though

Guild Wars makes it so easy to swap builds etc, re-spec your char, change weapons and skills, that people forget that in most MMOs re-specing involves going to an NPC and PAYING a lot of money, or having to unlock things via quests just to do very minor things we do in GW.
Wanna change your secondary? Theres a hotkey.
Wanna load a new build, they are saved and you can swap from a Blood Necro to a Curse necro instantly.
------------------------
This isn't a FPS ffs.
If you ask me guild wars needs to remove ALL "non-essential" hotkeys from the PVE side of the game and leave them as NPC functions.
I want to interact with the guild wars world and the characters that live in it.
The less and less immersive it gets, the faster people get bored, imo.
Commander Ryker
If you want an easy access to storage, go to the guild hall. If your guild hall doesn't have it, buy it. NPC's in the GH FTW!!!

I mean the hotkey is in the town only. and u can only use it if u get access to a xunlai agents. So if u havent' unlocked it or its not present in town, then the key does not do anything.
Some people who like to RP and who loves to use talk to the xunlai agent are always encouraged to keep doing that. So if u want to interact with the characters world and not use the hotkeys, play it your way.

Regardless of whether you can only use this "hotkey" after you purchase a storage account, and only if your inside a town, makes no difference.
Its still discouraging people to actually interact with NPCs and follow what an MMO or RPG is.
If we added this feature, people would then want a hotkey to access traders, armor venders and dye traders without actually interacting with them. Where would that leave the game? we wouldnt even need the NPCs.
You would have entire towns, where people just stood in one location and no one actually spoke to the traders.
As I said before, if you dont want to have to interact with NPCs then dont play an MMO. They are fundimental parts of the game. This idea of having to walk from location to location and talk to every person ingame is part of an MMO/RPG.
We cant put shortcuts in to get around them.
The system your asking for, reminds me of something like DOOM3 or any other FPS, where you just click inventory and everything you need is right there.
But even FPS now have NPCs in them which you need to interact with. Its not that I dont sympathise with you. I know it can be frustrating to walk all of 2 feet to speak to a storage vender at times, but its how it works.
As for it being hard to find storage in some locations....
....open your eyes and explore, or hold down the alt key and watch all the nice green NPC names show up. I've been there myself when its hard to find them...... you ask people!!!!
Try playing WoW. Compared to GWs, its alot harder to find NPCs you want. Anet has been extremely nice giving us reasonable small towns/cities and putting every trader you need in one locaton. Its like a very nicely rapped package with everything you need inside.

On a serious note, with the world becoming smaller with more technology, the world has spiraled into a state of laziness. What used to be done by hand 10-20-50 years ago, is now automated by machines because it is more efficient and productive. I can see that he wants to maximize his productivity by not spending an extra 5 seconds talking to an NPC. I for one, am not in favor for this. Because the world is getting smaller due to technology, a lot of our brains are brainwashed that being lazy is acceptable. I guarantee that the 5-10 seconds that it takes to locate the storage NPC person would not be productive elsewhere in that same alloted time if there was this system. Luckily, we are given keyboard shortcuts to help us (why? because all of us..including myself are lazy to go to OPTIONS>GUILD or OPTIONS>INVENTORY) everytime we want something. Along with this, they did manage to put in both the ALT and the CTRL keys to help. I would say that 99% of people never have problems locating an NPC within a 1-2 minute time frame. If you still have trouble after that, I am sure asking someone in a town is out of the question, because you probably think that no one will ever help or give advice. Contrary to what a lot may believe, I feel that there are a lot more useful, helpful, nice people playing Guild Wars than there are scammers or any people that ruin the reputation of the game as being one of the best.
In conclusion to my novel, which will hit as a Time's Best Seller entitled "Not Being Lazy: A Guild Wars story", just the tools you are given. Enjoy the created world that you are in while playing Guild Wars. Does it really hurt for you to ask or spend a minute or two looking around? Maybe they can introduce a town-only minimap (different from the minimap you currently see when you press U in town) with icons for all the various (important) types of NPCs in a town unless they can squeeze everything onto the existing minimap you see when in a town. But all-in-all, please don't be lazy.
Ok.....am I still on topic? I hope so

There's a much easier way to do things the lazy man's way which I've been using for ages since I discovered it by accident. It's simple: talk to Xunlai Agent to open storage, walk away, storage window still stays open. It can then be used anywhere in town until you close it. That way you can run around all the merchants and traders, sell all you want, buy all you want, and manage your storage/gold without having to run back and forth like an idiot. Personally I'm surprised that a lot people haven't clicked on sooner about this method .
