Thirsty River Bonus
mngrrl26
I have been trying to do the bonus in Thirsty River for a few weeks now and as soon as we get to the last section and you run in the guys go straight for the King and kill him therefore bonus failed. Any ideas how to get this bonus done now cause it didnt do this before.
Pick Me
I haven't done it since before the skill test weekend. Which group goes after the king? Warrior, Ranger, or Monk? Whichever one goes after the king, defend the king and kill the enemy.
I've seen this done before, but it was a random act, so only once in a while did the Warrior group attack the king.

Thats the thing a group comes from the left and a group comes from the right. We have tried to defend king but then another group comes after him. This bonus sucks big time now

I think that if you go right rushing the priest and then killing the War boss, keeps the king alive for the bonus. The reason i say this is because the last time I went a guy needed the monk boss cap so we went left first, instead of the way I've always gone which was right and we didnt get the bonus.
Maybe they changed something recently, but I've done that mission at least 30 times in the past, and always the same result going right. I can even remember my entire team dead and my mighty healing spell, shield of judgement, kept the ghostly up long enough to kill the war boss. God I miss that guy. Yeah the guy that took rebirth on his monk into hall of heros.

Did this mission about 2 weeks ago and the king died but we finished the mission anyway and still received the bonus. Have you tried finishing the mission even when the king dies to see if you even get it?
BTW I went for the warrior boss first and saved monk boss for last when i did the mission.

Ok this is really weird. On the map it shows only the sword for mission going through the shield no bonus sword. BUT when I go into Hero and then Titles it says 23/25 completed and all I have left are Hells mission and bonus. So it credited the titles but didnt give me the sword. How weird is that
DeanBB
23/25 means you are missing 2. Hells + Thirsty?

I only need Hells mission and bonus to get 25/25. According to the titles anyways. But on the map it shows I need Thirsty Bonus and Hells mission and bonus. I guess it credited the Thirsty bonus for my title but did not give me the sword. Oh well.

Um, Hell's mission and bonus just counts as ONE, you know. There are only 25 missions in Tyria - if mission and bonus were counted separately, it would be 47/50, right?
So Thirsty River bonus would give you 24/25, leaving Hell's Precipice mission AND bonus to bring you up to 25.

I can confirm that to get the bonus you need to go RIGHT when you enter the last area, take out the rightmost group first then the middle, then the left. Just did it yesterday and it wasn't difficult.

It is not that difficult. Change your secondary to mesmer, get diversion and some +domination points. Cast on the enemy priest and it will die easy. On the last part give diversion to the enemy priest and the monk boss. The monk boss is the hardest part.

The problem people have with this mission is that many guides will tell you that if you go right first, you can slip by most of the mobs and take down the snake priest first.
If you do it this way, then the mobs you pass will aggro and kill the king.
However, if you simply go right and take on the mob first and then kill the priest, the king will live. The middle and left group won't aggro the king unless you pull them into his range.

So Thirsty River bonus would give you 24/25, leaving Hell's Precipice mission AND bonus to bring you up to 25. FYI: If mission and bonus counted separately, it would be 46/49 as the 'bonus' for the doppleganger mission does NOT count towards the total.

actually the bonus for killing your doppleganger DOES count towards the total.
