How's This Computer?

I bought it off eBay recently, converted to US its around ~$603.

What framerate should I expect with Max settings and 1024x7xx (can't remember that last 2 numbers)

And if anyone owns Counter Strike: Source, what FPS should I expect with max settings and the same resolution.

looks good enough, and the X1600 Pro is decent, down the road, adding another GB of memory and a 8600GT/Ultra if you feel its running short,

the only problem is that the socket is 939, and Athlon64 socket 939 wont be around for long, so future CPU updates will relay on 2nd hand processors you can find on ebay or other sources,

True, but for me, by the time I'm ready for a new CPU I'm ready for a new motherboard anyway...

@ The OP. That computer seems nice, but the info the seller gave is terrible. He didnt say if it is socket 939, although the DDR ram implies it is, but it could be DDR2 for all we know. Email the seller and ask for more DETAILS.

Why keep throwing money at old tech...especially for what will probably only amount to a clockspeed increase (in the case of a CPU upgrade)?

The really big improvements happen when platforms change...clockspeed upgrades aren't worth the $ IMHO. Your best bet if you like to keep up with PC gaming hardware is to do a major upgrade every 1-2 years and move up to the newest platform (new CPU, new Motherboard, new RAM, new Video Card). Small, incremental upgrades only provide small performance increases and will gradually nickle and dime your hardware budget to death.
