All 3 games at once: use any class?

If I have all three GW games installed on my computer at the same time, will I be able to immediately start out on the GW:Prophecies continent using a class from one of the two expansions?

Basically, let's say I start a GW:Prophecies game and want to play through that first before moving on to the two expansion continents. Can I create a dervish character and play through the first continent, or am I limited to the non-expansion classes?

I hope that makes sense...

The new classes can only be started on their respective continents. But anyone can move to any continent once they get to a certain point of the repective campain.

rather than asking the question it would have been quicker to just start a new char and find out for yourself :P

When you select the campaign/chapter in which you want to create a character, the game will show you what professions are available for that chapter.

To get to other chapters with that character, you need to do a quest found at the following towns:

Prophecies - Lion's Arch
Factions - Kaineng Center
Nightfall - Kamadan

You'll reach Kamadan in the first five minutes or so of Nightfall, however you can't actually use it as a port until you are on the Consulate Docks mission.

Thanks Darcy and Suedars, that helped immensely. From that "tips for new users" page on this site I gathered that you needed to reach a certain point, but I still wasn't clear on the specifics.

Do you think maybe it's possible that I don't own all three chapters and thus wanted to double-check before buying the other two? Last time I checked it's not illegal to ask for information.

It's amazing what you can actually find on Guru. It has alot of info that a lot of people just pass up out of total bliss and being naive. Glad to see some people aren't. Glad you found what you were looking for.

A somewhat different take... I logged on after a couple years of inactivity and it turns out my old GW (Prophecies) character is still active. My new question is, is it possible to take my Prophecies-created character over to the Factions or Nightfall continents and change my secondary class to one of the expansion-specific classes? For example, I'm currently an ascended W/R. Can I travel to the Nightfall continent and become a secondary dervish? Unless I'm missing it, I couldn't find an answer to that specific question.

The reason they don't let you start new profs in the earlier chapters is that pre-searing and Shing Jea only have quests for the profs that existed when these chapters came out. They would have to add new quests to the old chapters if they wanted to let you start any prof anywhere.

Is that in response to my original question? If so, that's been answered already.

Now I'm trying to find out if it's possible to take an ascended L20 Prophecies character over to Factions or Nightfall and switch your secondary class to one of the "new" ones like dervish or assassin.

And the answer to your new question is yes. An ascended character can change secondaries to any profession.

My Tyrian warrior changed professions in Nightfall to cap Elites for my heroes and can select Dervish or Paragon.

Yes you can take Prophecies-created chars to other campaigns because all classes in Prophecies are core classes.

Yes, you can do that, you just have to get to a certain point in the game (fairly early in btoh Factions and Nightfall) and then pay 500 gold to the Profession changer guy.
