I can't believe I'm the first to post this.

Personally, I don't see the point. The community wiki is well supported. Unless all the content gets moved over then what's the point?

I don't get it either. I'm not trying to be an ass right now, but it seems like there's a case of "Whoa, look at all the work these players did at collecting this info, we don't have half that! Any way we can use it ourselves?" Of course, they mention the time and money spent that ANet can afford that players might not be able to, long-term, but I ask: Why all the sudden?
Also, will the "official" wiki be as neutral as the real wiki, in noting some errors or bugs, or will they simply omit that information?
Eh, it's not a bad thing, but I personally am not going to cry out "Oh, ANet has an official wiki, YAY!". I'll see...

There is a thread dedicated to this already.
Edit: Beat to it.
Anyways official wiki is good IMO.

Can't wait to see how Anet incorporate wiki into the game.

In my opinion, it's way, way too late. When Mike O'Brian made the OP of the linked topic, it was right after Factions released and the amount of information on GuildWiki was less than a half than it is today.
Now, a year later, they expect us to reinstate all that information? It's an insult at this point. What motivation would a person have to improve that official Wiki? (OMG, no ads! Riiiight...) There's nothing wrong with GuildWiki, and there's nothing that an official Wiki would change.
All it will do is encourage another divide in the community. Guild Wars can't handle any more divides (first GWO and Guru, now GWiki and OGWiki). And since Guild Wars is community driven...well, it won't be pretty.
