Impale counts as attacking skill and triggers Blades of steel?
chicks boy
Baldes of steel - Must follow an off-hand attack. If it hits, this attack strikes for +5...14 damage (maximum bonus 65) for each recharging attack.
Impale - Must follow a Dual Attack. Target foe is struck for 25...85 earth damage and suffers from a Deep Wound for 5..17 seconds.
Does Impale triggers blades of steel?

No, it doesn't.
Bloodied Blade
Impale is not an offhand attack...it's a skill/spell afaik. It follows a dual attack, is not an offhand, and will not trigger Blades of Steel.

Wait a sec.... then does that mean...
Dancing Daggers => Mantis Touch => Exhausting Assault => Impale
... would work under Illusionary Weaponry or while Blinded? o_o;;
I take it that Blinding Strike doesn't count as a Dual-Attack for purposes of triggering Impale, despite its matching place in the combo system. A pity, since my ID builds always have at least a fair lump of Shadow Arts.

SotiCoto, what the hell are you doing with Exhausting Assault? It must follow a Lead Attack, not Off-hand....
SotiCoto
I wasn't taking the updates into account...
So.... take out Mantis Touch...
Does it work then?
I know that Exhausting Assault doesn't have to hit in order to deliver its effects, hence it works under Illusionary Weaponry... The fact that it follows a Lead Attack now is even better since theoretically I can skip straight from a dagger spell to the interrupt.
But does it have to hit to actually put the Dual Attack mark on the enemy? That is the question.

And the answer is yes.
It does have to hit to deliver its effects as well, unless you were talking about its activation time. Exhausting Assault will not interrupt anything using Illusionary Weaponry but it will still cause damage if you've already marked the opponent with a lead (it will "miss"). If you haven't then Illusionary Weaponry will not deal damage using EA, the skill will "fail".

I have no clue SotiCoto, I leave IW'ing to real men.

I tried with my earlier builds (before the change) using Dancing Daggers, Mantis Touch and Exhausting Assault as a workable combo under IW ... and it seemed to work just fine.... but it was doing less damage than just straight-attacking and ate up my energy like an Insp-Mesmer on steroids. I haven't touched a combo with my ID builds since then. I mostly just tank with 'em... (Dark Escape, Deadly Paradox, Shadow Refuge, Feigned Neutrality, Shroud of Distress... sometimes Illusion of Weakness thrown in for insurance). It takes a few moments to set up all the enchants (and they have to be spread out if I run out of energy)... but with that many covers up it can be tough to strip the weaponry off me (especially if my protection monk heroes are getting ench-happy)... and even tougher to register significant damage... leaving me to freely chunk away 34 health per attack from the enemy in my own good time, which doesn't usually take too long.
Incidentally... I'm considering the possibility of sticking Arcane Mimicry in there somewhere and bringing along Zenmai with Locust's Fury... ...
Erm... did I mention I like to talk crap for extended periods of time?
Anyhow.... combos and IW don't generally mix.
And last I checked Exhausting Assault doesn't need to hit in order to drop its effects on the enemy.

But it does have to hit. ( This means: Lead Attacked, no block, no blind, no miss )
SotiCoto
Thats not whats written in the description.... unless the updated discription now contains a reference to it hitting.
If it does need to hit then the skill is mis-labelled.

They simply forgot. It's like Savage Slash mmk?

I'll have to test that later to confirm.... I'll find some nice tanky but not overly dangerous sort of enemy to try it on... like Meril Stoneweaver.
