Just logged in and started playing my sin this morning - noticed he had a lot of new glowing animations around his daggers that he had never had before.

I had no new skills, hadn't changed the make up of my heroes and henchies, hadn't changed any option settings or had any updates to my video card driver that would enable graphics I had not had before, so it's not any of those things.

Did anyone else notice this with their sin or other characters.

In any case, WAY COOL - thanks ANet.

no different daggers - i like kinshi's butterfly ones and those were the ones I was using - i'll try later with some others and see if they do the same thing.

Take a SC. From your description I am starting to think it may be the aura from the Proph CE. Or you could've been using a skill in which is plausable since Anet buffed alot of the sin stuffs.

here's a screen shot - hard to catch because they don't last long.



The magenta around the hands and the orange crescents in the back are what I am talking about.

I think the magenta was a result of mobeus strike and the orange was from death blossom - not entirely sure - but they are different according to the skill you are using.

I did check and I do not have CE on my account so I am assuming they upgraded some of the skills to include new graphics.

In any case, I am happy - the sins arlready had some pretty good moves and now they are even better - thanks.

It wouldn't be the CE anyway as that only happens when you do emotes.

Yea it's attack animation. When I use Ox Horns I get a scythe effect as my sin strikes twice, and when I use twisting fangs my palms emit a barbed circle aura before striking.

You know if you slow the animation of "Falling Spider" down, you'll actually see a purple spider at the hand. This is actually there before the update you're talking about.

Many of Assassins attack skills have purple glow to it, it just the animation is too fast for you to notice it.

^ Yeup, and that sucks because the animations are so pretty. At least it makes up for it with the fast-paced action.

You can also see something similiar with Sun-and-Moon slash; You see a sun and moon in the animation but it's *really* tiny. Try it with a Katana.

This brings up an interesting point actually. How many people really notice the animations? Every now and then I'll see some cool animation from a skill or spell, and I'll spend a minute or two waiting to see it again. Most of the time though, I don't notice them. It kinda sucks, alot of the animations are very cool.

How about an instant replay feature.....picture in picture in insta-slow-mo(TM)....
Now that would be cool - Anet developers drop everything that you're not working on (i.e. auction house) and start not working on this immediately..... I decree it!

Interesting. I had the same feeling that some of those things finally got an effect. Maybe they increased the size a bit or fixed a bug that prevented them from being shown?

Interesting but like others I don`t notice many effects as they are hidden by the other brighter effects. In fact sometimes I can`t even see my char for all the effects going off at once, it`s just a massive bright white/blue smokey mass with my char and the enemies popping out of it between each attack.
Maybe the testing spots might reveal more, kick some dummies and check out some animations.

It has, but it's more than a yellow glow, each of the martial classes has it's own effects. Warrior attack effects look different than rangers which look different than assassins, dervishes, or paragons, etc.

I think the particle effects were there for a while, but many of them would usually not show or not show until the move was done multiple times.
I notice more and more that I'm consistently seeing effects that I rarely ever saw when casting spells.

As I've been playing with new assassin for a while now, I started to notice these things too and they are really pretty. Too bad there's not a replay mode or a bullet time function รก la Max Payne, where you could slow the time and see the action slow-motion.

Do you get the same effects using Assassin dagger skills with a character of another primary class?

Not sure how that is even relevant since I play a primary Assassin... but still... funky stuff. Might actually encourage me to go back to using dagger combo attacks... ^_^
