Anticipation: Canthan New Years Festival

This is very exciting, and I didn't find a thread already on this but if you go to the Guild Wars site (www.guildwars.com) you will find a link to the Canthan New Years festival. It sounds very fun.

It will include:
*special quests
*festival hats
*fortune telling
*festival items
*FLYING PIGS!
*AND A NEW PVP RACE

I am mostly excited about the racing and fortune tellings. What are your thoughts?

naaa prolly means like underground cause your racing on beetles.

i don't think they mean "races" as in types of profession or people, but races as in what Brandon1107 was sorta saying, where you're probably running or betting on some animal to win a race or something.

those type of races.

I mean.....

-PvE people are happy with the free access to the elite missions and extra gold drops
-PvP are happy cuz they get 8v8 in HA
- People that only have only Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall are all happy because the Canthan New Year has things going on in LA, Kamadan, and Shing Jea

Has time stood still or could everybody possibly be happy for a little while??

The helmet resembles the lion dancing thing they do in festivals to "ward off evil".

i'm thinking its something like, you get in the the beetle then you get an assortment of skills (like the site said) and a skill unique to your proffession. Then all the beetles go the same speed BUT you use your skills to make the others beetles lose.
(example: all beetles start! Go! they all go the same speed. Warrior speeds up skill, elementist uses and adjetant slow down skill and all the others fall behind. mesmer uses trip and one is stopped for a second...yata yata yata warrior wins.)

I think the hat is very nice^^ I can't wait to get one!

The event is taking place in all 3 campaigns but you won't be able to get the headgear if you don't have Factions. Just like every other event, the finale is where you will get the hats. So it's still fun but for those who don't have Factions and want the headgear, you're out of luck unless you buy the game.

Very cool!I wouldnt mind there only being 1 hat for this because im so loaded with them lol. But the hat looks very cool!woooo for a 2nd new years!its not as long as the dragon festival but that means we get our hats sooner.But im hoping ill have enough time to get r2 of skillz.
