Unlock weapon/armor skins with balthazar faction
BDZeres
Hi All
I would like to suggest Anet allow players to unlock new Weapon and Armor skins from all chapters, because the old skins are getting bland after seeing them day after day in RA/TA/GvG etc, and I would rather unlock some nifty skins for my pvp chars than buy skills like Keystone Signet or <insert useless elite here>
for example, 15k Balthazar faction could unlock one piece (Head, Chest, Legs, Hands or Feet) of an Ascended skin armor (such as Tyrian Judges 15k for your monk) and a PvP character could then select the skin (perhaps have a separate tab in the equipment builder for unlocked skins) and then add inscriptions and runes. Obviously, endgame armor or the more expensive armor such as vabbian could cost more per piece to unlock.
With the addition of titles increasing your faction cap, I feel this is a viable way to encourage / reward pvp'ers for their skill rather than forcing them to grind their time away in PvE land to get gold so they can look nice, making
Simultaneously, this might take away from botter's markets - ive known people who ebay money just so they can take a pve character through the game and get unique armor, to look shmexy in obs mode.
Of course, the type of skins available to unlock would be at the discretion of the developers, and I would assume they would not let players unlock extremely rare/expensive stuff like FoW armor, runic blades etc (unless for some exorbitant amount - 100k balth faction for example)
Thanks for reading.

I agree with this idea my balth faction is full since I unlocked everything (a month ago), so Im just wasting it, it would be nice if anet did add cool stuff to unlock with faction for us pvpers. But I do agree that there are some armors/skins that should be pve only.

but there shouldnt be 15k sets that you can unlock. There should be unlockable hero armor sets and a title for total balthazar faction would be nice.

We've been here before, People play PvE SOLEY because they get access to the elite weapon and armor skins. If it's unlockable in PvP then people will loose all motivation to play PvE anymore.

Agree with above if PvP char can select FoW armor with Elemental Sword and click create. I won't touch PvE char anymore :P

Ok sure. As long as PvE players get a Phoenix emote for getting Protector of Cantha.
The fact is, Emotes are a symbol of accomplishment in PvP and 15k armor is a symbol of accomplishment in PvE. And it should stay that way, unless the emotes are possible to achieve without stepping foot in PvP. And... use search

You also forgot about unlocking pet skins.
However, I don't think you should be able to unlock certain more rare armor or weapon or pet skins, and keep it only as a PvE reward.

This has been suggested millions of times before on this board. But it still needs to be done so /signed again. Not just for 15k armor, also for Fissure armor and any/every weapon skin and armor skin in the game.

Skins are PvE, sorry!

Yes, I know it has been suggested before, but felt it necessary to rebirth this topic.
I completely agree that PvE'ers should have their own status symbols, such as 15k armor, foW, crystalines etc. All I'm asking for is a little variety beyond the current skins offered, just for a change.
If the devs would make it possible for us to unlock just the 15k Tyrian sets (which almost every pve'er has by now) for 15k faction per piece for all professions, that would be enough for me.
Perhaps these unlocks could be offered as rewards for tournaments? I, for one, would prefer this to prizes such as wintergreen weapons or transmorph potions.
EDIT:
If the only reason you play PvE is to get nice skins (that is, you dont really enjoy the experience) then why not /sign such a petition? It would save you time farming/advancing your characters, allowing more time for PvP.
On the other hand, if you enjoy both aspects of the game, it should make litte difference to you what the PvP'ers do... provided of course that the devs retain certain skins as "PvE exclusive" (which I'am 100% positive they would).

pvp is for going against others in gameplay, not looking good. if you seriously want to look good in pvp by having nice skinned armor and weapons you have a problem. only way to look good in pvp is by winning.
maybe youd like white and black dye and dye mixing unlocked for pvp while youre at it asking for stupid things.

P.S. To be fair and to pacify some of the angry PvE players, the HA emotes should probably then be reachable through PvE, or if that goes over like a lead balloon among HA players, perhaps some new types of emotes gainable in PvE.

If you want new weapon/armor skins, then buy the PvE version of the game, and play PvE, earn the money and buy them, otherwise too bad.
Here's an idea, if they allowed that, then they should allow PvE players to buy rank emotes for gold.

PvP is about functionality; vanity items are for PvE. The day PvE titles get emotes will likely be around the same time you'll be able to unlock skins with Balthazar faction.

Under the condition that fame emotes are also available in PvE.
This resolves several issues:
I'm a pure PvP'er and have a completely unlocked account with the inability to spend my bath points. If there is no armour for PvP'ers, then at least something else to spend the bath points on.

This resolves several issues:
- Completely unlocked PvP accounts can now spend Balth Points again
- Removes "emote for me" in HA, so now people will have to judge by skill
- PvE'rs can now have bambi's for their own visual delight

There is not enough investment of time and effort for a PvP player to earn the elite skins.
Unless they had to unlock it for each PvP avatar at an extremely high amount of faction. Which, of course, they would lose the unlock when they rerolled that character slot.

My PvE characters are pvp ready with all skills from their proffesion and many from others, plus I have max stats equipment the way i like it for pvp. i enjoy seeing my hard work being put to good use. pve characters should be the only ones to wear and use things unique. pvp wars can stick to their noobish knights armor while mine has 15k gladiators black and a tyrian hand axe black with max stats, 20/20 hp+30 ty very much.

Half of my guild prefers to PvE more than PvP because they don't like dealing with the arrogance and elitism of the PvP world. PvP is not the center of the universe for every player, Most players like the PvE experience. I for one love the Tyrian and Canthan environments and the Tyrian and Elonian storylines hence why I always make PvE characters. Case closed, just deal with it. |
For someone who tries to separate himself from the "arrogant and elitist" pvp crowd, you sure do come across arrogant and elitist.
Your points addressed:
Hard core dedication/grind? Who said the faction cost was cheap? Why not make it 500k faction per armour peice per class? (Bought in slots of 50k, so you had to "grind" some pvp titiles also). Heck, this would make it harder than the pve FoW. Additionally, you could not "eBay it". (Not saying that all FoW is eBayed).

Hypothetical analogy:
"PVE chars can now get emotes, but they can only display them on pvp chars. Unfortunately, PvP chars cannot venture into PvE zones."
This is basically the situation pvp chars are faced with.
The difference is that pve chars _cannot_ get pve emotes, but you _could_ pvp with a pve char, if you chose to. (Hence "but we don't have pve emotes" is not a valid counter arguement).

And the Per Class unlock sounds really good but it demands quite a high aptitude of PvP titles (at least r5 Hero and other titles). But you went off on a tangent targeting my elitism and grinding comments. My main point in my OP was to say PvE/PvP needs somthing the other cannot get. For PvE it's armor and for PvP it's the animated emotes. Even if it is hard to get allowing for 15k+ armor unlocks in PvP would make the PvE would dead as people faction-farm all the arenas instead of enjoying the story given in PvE.

I agree that PvE and PvP draw different people and so it is sensible for both to have aspects that the other cannot achieve. I don't however think that people play PvE just because you can get high-level armour. I find it _very_ unlikely that all PvErs would stop PvEing just to grind faction for armour.
PvE has storyline, big mob battles, item farming, gold farming, exploration, pve title hunting, and probably quite a few more things PvP does not have; it's more than just the armour.

I'm a pvp'er first and a pve'er second, I think lots of things should focus around pvp, like skill balance and item balance between pvp and pve, but this is a terrible idea.
PVE players like to have neat looking ways of differentiating their characters. If you knew the market, you'd know that pve'ers are obsessed with rarity. If pvpers could get those skins too, it would devalue those skins in the eyes of pve players.
Pvpers would gain something of trivial importance to them (of course they'll ask for it anyways, since it's kinda neat), while Pve would lose something of prime importance to them.

Sounds awesome, paying balth faction for FoW armor. Well...
What sounds REALLY awesome is if HA emotes (deer, wolf, ect) were awarded to PvE chars with large ammounts of Exp
Not too happy, all those who grinded for your wolf? Are you mad that a PvE char can just do a few FoW runs and grab the emote for themselves? Does this infuriate you? Well, now you know how we feel when you suggest stupid things like this. You can go kill shit for a few hours in TA and unlock 15k armor, wereas we have to farm for days. You have to farm fame for days to get that first emote, whereas we could spend 4 hours to amass a huge ammount of exp to grab it.
PvE and PvP, whether Anet likes it or not, have become entirely seperate games. Let's keep them that way. Unless, of course, both communities are willing to share the awesome aspects of their respective games (15k armor and emotes).
my 2 cents.

No-one is saying it would be easy to acquire, just that pvpers need something to spend faction on, and this fits nicely. Make it cost obscene amounts of faction; people may not get any pieces for months - it would still be rare in the eyes of pve players.

I don't think that you should be able to "unlock it" with faction per-say. I'm under the belief that if you bought the armor(s) for your pve warrior, you should be able to wear them in PvP. Only if you have bought the armor in PvE. I definitely do not think that you should be able to Unlock Fissure armor w/ faction....
Or if you have so much Kurzick faction / Luxon faction you have the ability to wear that factions armor on your PvP, IE Ally of Kurzick / Luxon.
many might not agree, I'm just throwing some stuff out there.
