Storage has been a big issue for a long time. People have worked around it by using PvE character slots as Mules.
My suggestion: Allow people to create Storage Agent characters:
- When creating a character, you can choose PvE, PvP or Storage Agent (cannot PvE or PvP).
- Your Storage Agent is basically the same as a Xunlai Agent, except you can customize them through special training or upgrades.
- To access your Storage Agents, simply speak to any Xunlai Agent. All Xunlai Agents will now provide the following options when you speak to them: [1] See my storage account (if you had bought one from them); [2] Summon a storage agent; [3] Train/Upgrade a storage agent
- Option [1] allows you to still have quick access to your existing Xunlai storage.
- Option [2] will give you a list of your storage agents and allow you to select one. Doing so will bring up a similar window to that of your storage account, except it will show the inventory of your storage agent.
- Option [3] will also give you a list of your storage agents and when you select one, will be give a list of training/upgrades that can be purchased for that storage agent. For instance: additional storage slots; platinum/gold storage, crafting materials storage tab; etc. They would appear as different tabs (like the way crafting materials tab works) to a maximum number of tabs. Training/Upgrades is basically just a gold sink, but also allows customization. Maybe someday there would be a preorder items upgrade tab, hats tab, dyes tab, keys tab, etc. put out by ANET.
- Your storage agents can be customized based on how you train/upgrade them. For instance, every storage agent can only have up to X amount of tabs, and you could train a storage agent to have extra tabs become all crafting materials tabs if you wanted, or any combination of other tabs (like all generic storage slots only). Later, if new tabs are introduced, you can simply create new storage agents or delete old ones and retrain.
The reasoning behind this suggestion:
1. People are using character slots as mules anyways, so why not use them as actual storage agents to better serve storage needs and customized the way we like them.
2. ANET wouldn't have to worry about people constantly complaining about needing more and more storage. Just buy more character slots - just more money for ANET.
3. Saves from the hassel of having to drop off your stuff at Xunlai, log off your account, log into another account, and transfer the items to Mule.
4. Don't have to run a new character through pre-searing just to become a mule.
5. Any character can access any storage agent very easily in the game.
6. Doesn't take anything away from what we already have. Don't like the idea of taking up a character slot for a storage agent? Then don't do it. Nothing prevents you from keeping your slots for PvE mules or for playing PvE/PvP characters.

hmmm its a decent idea but ... what about simply purchasing more storage slots? i think anet should definately make more standard upgrades for storage

New chapters = more stuff
Same ol' storage options for 3 chapters worth of stuff is a kick in the nuts, right from Anet to you. Special delivery. I guess if we whined and complained like PvPers do, something might happen....

After the materials storage was added, I noticed that the tabs were offset with just enough room for one more tab on the right hand side. I imagine that ANET already has something planned, but what they will allow us to store is beyond me. Perhaps rune or wep/offhand upgrades? That would be sweet, even though I guess I should probably sell all the stuff I'm dragging around instead of hoarding it. Just an observation.

The only reason you would have to do that is if your on a prophesies only account, as factions and nightfall characters hit a xunlai agent very quickly.

A great idea that gives more money to anet, more convenience to us, and won't have any detrimental effects ont the economy as people are using character slots as mules anyway, this just makes it easier and more enjoyable.
