For this build, is it better to go R/A or A/R?

Not exactly sure what the final spec will be, but I intend to make a toon with the two main attributes being marksmanship and critical strikes, followed by beast mastery.
I was just looking for opinions as to which would be the best main profession, ranger or assassin, and why. I am mostly looking for PvE until I get to the higher levels and then will probably try the barrage template.
Thanks in advance!

anything with critical strikes will perforce needs to be A/R as crit strikes in the sin Primary Attribute.

Well if you want Crit Strikes then you NEED to be A/R. CS is Assasin's "Main" attribute. Strength is wars, expertise is rangers etc. You won't have to worry about armor since they both got same armor level (Correction?).

$hade: correction: Rangers have +30 AL vs ele. This is a huge difference. Rangers can also use stances to defend them from melee. This makes them more sturdier.

I'd go with Ranger primary. I'm an Assassin myself ( By that I mean that I'll defend sins no matter what ), but it seems you're still quite new to the whole GW scene, and rangers are just easier to play.

No, I have been with it since launch, just off and on and I have taken a long break. I know about the primaries but for some reason I was thinking that dagger mastery was the assassin primary. Anywho, this definitley answers my question! I appreciate the quick responses, m8's!!

Sins shouldn't be wielding bows. They're weaker than rangers.

The only bow-wielding sins are the ones in pve who can't get into a group as a normal sin and don't realize henches are better than most pugs anyways =p (that includes the healer henches too).

Ah yes forgot about the Elemental resistance. Thanks for the correction. Also rangers are ok with daggers. I made a R/A with daggers and used the expertise to lower the cost of the energy cost of attacks and was able to spam them well, also using defensive stances like whirling defense. It works great. I personally would go with R/A for the elemental resistance plus their expertise. THey also would use bows better than A/R as Cath said.

It's all up to you and what you plan to do with your char though. GOod luck.

Sharpen Daggers + Barrage any1?

fun to play and with Critical Eye and a Zealous Bow you dont really need Expertise and make hell of loads of people bleed... combine this with an other Ranger in your team with Lascerate =D is great fun in HA

I'm r6 before people shout at me: NOOB!

I'm r6 before people shout at me: NOOB! You use Lacerate and your r6? Man fame must be easier to farm than ever right now...

Only advantage the Assassin has is Keen Arrow can pack a very nice punch against single targets.
