Do you think there will be new ritualist and assassin armor/skills in chapter 4?

I really hope Anet doesn't drop the campaign specific classes as more chapters come out, IE no dervish or paragon armor/skills in chapter 5, etc.

If so, what's the point in making a non-core class?

nah, i think they'll drop Sin' and Rit for Chapter 4 and introduce 2 more classes...

Plus, as with Nightfall, they'll only have 2 new armours and a tiny handful of Derv and Para skills

What true motivation would there be to stop making new skills for the non-core professions?

Hard to Balance?
Compared to the adding of 2 entire new professions and over a dozen new skills for each other profession. What's a handful of other new ones?

Inconsistency?
There are plenty of inconsistencies that we've been dealing with. Duplicate skills? Existed in Chapter 2, but not 3. Skill quests? In chapter 1 but not chapter 2 or 3.

Assuming more non-core skills are going to be released for every other profession, why not the Rit and Assassin? Skills like Feigned Neutrality have changed the direction of the profession alltogther and are in high demand.

Because it's high demand, there is little reason to stop making new skills. It really doesn't do anything to harm the game, and gives extra benefits of combining the chapters together on one account.

I'm sure Chapter 4 will have for Paragons and Dervish as Chapter 3 did for Sin's and Rit's but thats just a guess.

Lol, we don't even know anything at all about Ch4, besides a few hints here and there.

I know for sure Anets not just going to abandon Rts, Sins, Dervs and Parrys, but its fun to think what they will do. My guess is no new professions, just more armor and stuff....

But yeah, all we have on Ch4 is a few hints here and there...and to think its almost halfway through Feburary? All we know is its coming out in the later half of 07, and that it exists, those are the only TRUE concrete facts. I still don't get why Anet shrouds their customers in shadow about their new games, most companys tell you the second they start making a game. The whole thought process on that subject to me makes no sense at all....

If its for the whole "surprise factor"...its not going to be surprising when all the customers they used to have don't care anymore, because they've moved on to new games.

No reason to speculate this until they annouce something relavant on their mainpage I guess.

I agree.

Instead, I would want to see new secondaries. "professions" you can unlock for a toon, and use as secondaries with a few new skills.

(for instance, think of "Lightbringer" as a secondary profession, with lightbringer gaze, and other related skills. of course, I'm talking of making up new ideas, which will fit the new chapter, but also old ones.).

Rits/Sins and Paras/Dervs need to reach the skill amount of the Propechies professions.. So I do not hope they quit working on them...

Personally, I think the necessary time and effort devoted by the dev's to create 2 new professions in the next campaign could be used to strengthen, deepen the existing game.

I'd like to see the next expansion tie the game together more and perhaps be used as a platform for many player requested improvements.

But, more importantly, the next expansion could be made in a way that revitalizes the older campaigns and makes them more attractive to veteran players as well newcomers.

i agree with Silly Warrior. Most of the companies shout out loud 'we're developing X. It's about to come out over 3 years.' But then, again, there's a market strategy by keeping your customers curios about what you're going to release.

But this strategy has its drawbacks. Some might get pissed and just leave.

OR

They didn't develop alot of it so they really don't have anything to tell you. And IF they're rushing C4 i deffo won't buy it.

HOWEVER

They might develop GW2, which might bring 4 new proffessions and another style of play, something revolutionary, thus taking alot more time to develop.

I strongly hope the last one applies...the game elements are getting old..

Yes. I hope they give ALL 10 professions full fledged features in Chapter 4... the same amount of armor, skills, and add a ton of new content that is BETTER than new professions. We have enough professions now... if anything, Chapter 4 should have 2 new professions, then no more. 10 or 12 is DEFINITELY enough.

Imo, Chapter 4 should not have any new professions. They should concentrate on adding new skills to the non-core professions so they can be on par with the core ones. Chapter 4 could grant you access to all the professions(including the non-core ones) even if you don't own their "original" chapter. This would compensate for the lack of new professions.

Yeah . . . this is a bit of a stretch but maybe Anet could add a new attribute to each existing profession . . . shake things up a bit.

Just a random thought.

Or, they could just add two new professions and 25 new skills for each profession that came before that, just like they have in the past.

On top of that, any buffing of old skills to make them just like new would be icing on the cake.

I just don't understand why people here are requesting for less game content.

I don't want to have 2 new professions. Game content doesn't have to be specifically professions, if they focused on other stuff (mounts seem popular, but I dislike the idea, personally). Or like others said, getting the non-core professions up to date sounds like a good idea.

If they just keep on adding new professions, and 25 skills to professions before that... sooner or later, the core professions will have more skills combined than the new profession... I believe that is a huge turnoff for many players. Why play new professions, when olds one have double the choices?? Except for the sake of making new professions, people would rather much prefer playing core professions if they keep on doing the same.

There will be - you can pretty much count on that. If they didn't do that, then the hardcore sin and rit players would have no reason to buy the new chapter, and ANet needs to shift copies of the game. They can't risk excluding any players, or they'll lose money.

In short, whether they add new professions or not in upcoming chapters (which I hope they do as it adds a bit more of a dynamic to the game IMO), old professions will still be supported and developed.

Here's a thought. Why don't they, instead of adding new profession, add a new line of attribute for all profession. Could be fun, huh?

What happens after that?
Will future professions have an extra attribute line?
What about the Elementalists and the 5 attribute lines already?

They can do this by buffing/improving the many useless existing skills, instead of introducing many new (potentially useless) skills. The best case is to improve old skills and introduce new skills that are already good.

Of the 25 skills, 10 are elite skills. You only need 7 skills plus 1 elite for a build, from two professions (one skill is most likely going to be a res signet). It doesn't matter if there is a pool of 125 or a pool of 250, as long as there is some semblance of balance to make a half decent build, then it'll all be okay. I doubt it's a matter of "playing the professions" because Anet's bottom line is buying the game box once.

I'd wager that a chapter which offers no new professions is less appealing overall to folks that buy games.

Worst case scenario, they'll make the starting pools for new professions larger, or make the additional skill pools smaller, which they have been.

Check this action out:

Warrior: Total Skills / Elites
Core: 40/5
Prophecies: 36/11
Factions: 30/10
Nightfall: 25/10

So, with every expansion, less new skills have been added. However, don't forget that 5 skills in Faction's 30 were duplicate skills, and all new professions starts with 75/15, which is about the same as the Core + Prophecies classes. What happens next is anyone's guess.

I think progressing with the 25/10 is just fine.

I for one am looking forward to seeing what innovative professions Anet can come up with next. Of course they will keep adding skills because the classes have to be balanced, but sooner or later it will overwhelm them and they are going to have to probably stop making professions. 6 months developing won't be enough time for all those new skills sooner or later. I'm not necessarily saying Ch4 but in some future ones.

I hope they have a plan.

We went through this same dilema before Nightfall came out and A-Net came through, so I'm confident that no one will be forgotten in Ch. 4.

Meh... I don't want new professions, they've got everything covered so far, and aren't being redundant (paragons are a little iffy, we've had shouts and stuff for a long time). My thoughts? It'll go like this:

Assassin Armor: 1 new set
Ritualist Armor: 1 new set
Paragon Armor: 2 new sets
Dervish Armor: 2 new sets
Core Armor: 5 new sets
New Class: 5 new sets, not including FoW
