Thirsty River Solo (ele)
Trylo
Before i forget i would like to thank Why Me for giving me the inspiration to make some tweaks to his build and format it to accomplish Thirsty River (and other missions along the way)
Why Me's original post: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s....php?t=3063372
NOTE: You must have every chapter of the game to use this build.
For those of you who like pictures explaining things, here you go:
So lets dive right in and go straight to the SKILLS:
Storm Chaser
Serpents Quickness
Stone Striker
Sliver Armor
Stoneflesh Aura
Armor of Earth
Obsidian Flesh {E}
Glyph of Concentration
and of course you will want the ATTRIBUTES
16 Earth Magic
4 Energy Storage
12 Wilderness Survival
and last and pretty much the least significant part of the guide, EQUIPMENT
Just use any armor, geomancers is +20 armor... but i have battlemages and still consistently took 0 damage so... whatever you fancy.
YOU MUST have a +20% longer enchantments. i used a Khepket's Refuge because theyre cheap and give 15 energy. Galigords would work fine. Your own customized +20energy, +20% longer enchantments will work even better, but seriously equipment doesnt matter. just that 20% longer enchant.
HOW TO SOLO
Since im sure many of you are familiar with the Thirsty River mission. Its one of those awful Crystal Desert missions which nobody actually do, they usually fail a few times and then give into the runner for the mission. Thats exactly where you come in
and if you wanna know how to do the mission and what order: http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Thirsty_River
STEPS
1. Get your party, enter the mission.
2. Use Storm Chaser to run to the Ghostly Hero (northwest of the start point), watch out for devourers and their traps, you might want to use Stoneflesh Aura along the way.
3. Tell people to skip the scene. seriously boring scene. (i believe this is important enough for a step)
4. After running into the first mob, before you enter cast, in this order; Obsidian Flesh {E}, Serpents Quickness (while you are in the middle of Obs Flesh), Stoneflesh Aura, Armor of Earth, Stone Striker, Sliver Armor, Obs Flesh, Storm Chaser... rinse and repeat. Get the Priest first. This is generally very easy. You might want to move back as far as you can and then cast sliver. When facing caster bosses or the Priest the Sliver might target enemy warriors first, but thats fine... as long as you kill the preist before an even minute.
5. Take the hero and let him open the doors, take him back as far as you feel like, you can assign one of the people to be his boss and lead him places... w/e, its something for them to do. Now notice in the 2nd arena here there are RANGERS... oh noes. Well, you have Glyph of Concentration for a reason. Let your enchantments last as long as possible mitigating your chances to lose an enchantments to time when the glyph is recharging, it isnt too hard but just keep an eye on your enchantments. You can cast stone striker with dazed... but i wouldnt suggest it because its oh so easy to interupt a 1/2 second cast when theres 20 of them attacking you.
6. Kill the necro... or the ele... whatever one you fancy. just kill the priest, then the boss, then whatever is left. Dont feel bad if its to hard to kill one of those pesky leftovers with sliver armor, once again those lazy freeloaders (which are giving you money, so technically...) will have something fun to do and also it will go just that little bit faster.
7. Keep going to the LAST CHAMBER, wooo. Basically the same tactic, theres more rangers... OH and you might need to aggro some people from other teams to get the DPS of sliver armor high enough to kill that Monk boss... and the priest (kill the priest first, of couse). Then theres a ranger and a warrior... which are both nice and easy... except you might need to once more aggro some opposing parties to kill the warrior since i found it hard to target him with sliver... so basically kill the monk first, then the war, then the ranger.
8. Collect that cold, shining platinum from those ... nice people.
FIN
i did the run in a little less than an hour on my first try, died once... but if you mess up you can always run ... limp ... away.
Here are a few more pictures of some other things i tried soloing (more to come):

Kudos! Love to see a good elementalist build, mesmser build...and well that's it so far. But nicely done for this and taking someone elses build, tweaking it and using it for something entirely different and enabling people to use it!

Don't these guys also steal 17 life on hit from Order of the Vampire?

zomg another build for my ele!! Go ele farmers go!

yes they do... but apparently it doesnt work, dont ask why, but as long as Obs Flesh is up i supposed it mitigates all damage from outside spells being applied to you in particular... its kinda like their attack is a spell with and attack, so the spell is stopped...
thats my best explaination because when i lose Obs Flesh when i messed up i got hit with OoV, but when i got it back up the OoV damage stopped...

Whats funny is I actually tried the obs flesh concept on several missions, and it didn't work here. Of course, that was before I had nightfall, so the nightfall skills weren't in it, which is most likely why it failed. Good job on trying this again and getting it to work. Most likely this is more profitable than FoW anyway. So, anywhere else interesting where you got this to work?

well i tried some other places like THK (which i wouldve LOVED to solo ) but they have wild blow... so anything before the Mursatt i think would work...
but in NF everything has wild throw >_>
in cantha everything explodes... i might try out shiroken but i think they might have stance cancellors... and song of the mists
maybe arborstone and some of those middle-ish canthan missions
maybe dragons lair, thatd be really popular if you soloed that! i just went for the most profitable solo i could find and this looked pretty good so i tried it
EDIT:
It seems as though you can solo Dragons Lair, but you would need troll unguent and glyph of concentration. That would mean either taking out armor of earth or stoneflesh aura... or you could just get a monk to use mending on you or seomthing simple like that
EDIT2:
It also seems you might be able to solo Arbostone, a kurzick factions mission. You would need to go the north or center pathways with no dredge. You would need to place the urn back at the beginning to make danika 'stay'. And i have no clue how much damage youll be taking from a warrior boss using a hammer with double damage from bosses...O_O
you might be able to do some of those earlier missions, only the ones without henchies though (so... basically none >_<) i would try napui quarter (i think thats the 'closer to the stars' one, but if its not, i mean the closer to the stars one...)

Very cool, I made the exact same build to solo Sanctum Cay a while back.
Why_Me
Actually, for dragon's lair, I'm not exactly sure U need obsidian flesh. The only enchant removal is the spider things on the mesmer level, and there are no spell interrupts. That being said, the KD on that one level could really screw things up. Possibly an E/D with the normal geo enchants, mystic regeneration and fleeting stability, and then an E-Management elite, either ether renewal or ether prism. I can't test it out now, but I'll work on it.
For THK, the new shield of regen buff is god now, try that, and you can also keep the king alive with it.

Xiaxhou of Trinity
easy build, lower health to about 300 with runes, stoneflesh aura+PS+SoR. Balth spirit and Essence Bond for energy regen. Whatever you want to fill up last 3 slots, I like glyph of lesser energy, silver armor, and earth attunement. This variation works well with stance cancellors for the stonestriker+storm chaser combo, but again lacks Ob flesh so casters rape you ^.^
Pickletron
I use a VERY similar build.
http://guildwars.gameamp.com/guide/v...5.php!orderBy=
Just take out glyph for Aura of Restoration to counter degen and the occasional lucky hit (Only like 1-10 dmg but it can stack up).
The guide given in the link is a little more detailed but nice job btw

OoV isn't stealing any health because it only triggers off of physical damage. Stone Striker converts all physical and elemental damage you take to earth.
Senrath
A couple questions. One, how many tries did it take you to get it right? And two, about how much do you people usually charge for the run?
Trylo
i tried it with aura of restoration instead of glyph of concentration. got past the first boss... found the rangers and ... well you get the picture.
I completed it on my first try (with the above build), but i also have experience from soloing with a warrior and know the tricks on how to aggro the mission. remember you can pit other teams against eachother if you need some time to get your enchants back up.
im not sure how much they usually charge, ive seen anywhere from 5k - 10k with 7k being the average, but that was also back in december sooo...
hehe im gunna have to try to solo dragons lair... ward of stability might work out as well. with armor of earth and stoneflesh ... that might be a bit much for lvl 20ish mobs, but also remember theres a LOT of casters in the mesmer arena (chaos storm would pretty much screw you if you were in the middle of casting stoneflesh xD), the ele arena and the necro arena...
ill have to try it. trolls would probably go in as well as stability, but after that im not sure... (shockwave :O)
Stoneflesh Aura
Stone Striker
SQ (if using obs flesh, if not i would say... a fast recast enchant)
SC
trolls/AuraofRest
sliver armor
glyph of concentration
[elite] <--- they really need another uber tank elite enchantment other than obs
kinetic would fail because it would be the last enchantment renewed... thus the first one to go. so i guess you could take out armor of earth AND stoneflesh for aura and kinetic and obs flesh, but then you would lose that wonderful defence... and would have to spam AoRest >_< ... well see

Why_Me
Like I said before, for dragons lair, and all crystal desert missions for example, you really don't need Obsidian Flesh. The only people in dragon's lair that have enchant removal are the spider things on the mesmer level, and according to my memory, the end area with the boss doesn't have those, so even if you can't cover your enchants, you can always run past the spiders. That being said, the knockdown on the warrior level (5 second KD once every 20 seconds) could be a huge problem, and it is imperative that an anti KD is brought. The obvious options are the ward and fleeting stability. I'd pick fleeting, considering it gives you access to mystic regeneration, which counters the large amount of armor ignoring damage. But how are you going to manage this energy? Ether renewal may look good at first, but you won't get as much synergy as you like because chaining skills=concussive shot=gg. So what else can you bring that doesn't require spamming? Ether prism. But interrupts of both this and stoneflesh will be a problem, so glyph of concentration is needed.
So the final build would be:
Ether prism
Mystic Regeneration
Fleeting Stability
Glyph of Concentration
Armor of Earth
Sliver armor
Stoneflesh Aura
Some Special Skill to defeat Glint, not sure yet
Haven't tried it yet, but I can almost garentee it would work.
[Edit]-Tried it. It completely tears through all the enchanted and forgotten, except it has one weakness, it cannot kill the monk facet. Maybe some tricks from the warrior build would work.

hehe i didnt think you would be able to out dps a +10 regen +40 armor spell up as often as the facet wants O_O
to beat glint all you need is a KD/Interupt for hibernation... other than that i think you could ... not really she has natural regen and your sliver wouldnt out dps that lol... idk about glint
ill try it on friday, unfortunately i dont have time during the weekdays to put any real effort into playing GW, but this will definately be a money maker... running dragons lair ftw? yay eles!
what enchant did you have up for mesmers? was mystic regen the last one you cast?
and did you let the other people run after you and cap >_>
attributes?
12 energy storage (11+1, 10+2)
15/16 Earth magic
8 earth prayers
or did you lower earth prayers?
