I like the hero system in place, but to me it takes away from the fact that there are thousands of other people around the world playing the game with me. Here's why: just imagine two of our own characters walking up to each other and discussing their journeys:
Char 1: "Yeah, yesterday I brought Koss back with me and had him help me out with Dunes of Despair..."
Char 2: "Wait, I had him with me all day yesterday in Cantha. That's impossible."
Granted, we're all playing through the storylines as if they're single-player, but that's neither here nor there.
My idea is building a team of heroes from other lvl 20 characters on your account, and only a character that's already hit 20 is eligible to act as a hero for whoever you're logged in as. That lets you build a team outside of the premade heroes that everyone has already.
I'm not sure how difficult this would be to implement for ANet, or if it would even be balanced, but I just wanted to see what other people thought or what they could add to it. I, personally, would love to see it happen -- but I'm a fluff nerd and would like to feel as if I'm controlling my own D&D party.
