PvE compeditive charater comparison
Rau Faust
Would it be possible for you to catagorically rate each character in a pve setting? Variables must include either TOTAL points healed, TOTAL points damage, etc as you see fit; per character, but ALSO in comparison respectively.
The object is to make a list of the best AVERAGES (avoiding total time played stats)for skills played per character over time.
I want to see how good my monk or warrior or rit etc. is compaired to other primary's of my kind, AND compaired to the group I'm playing with. I'm an ele and I rate 1st in my group in the end depending on YOUR determination of effectiveness of the group as a whole. You get it? It's all about competition on a PvE level. This could revolutionize your basic PvE ideal. PvE is fun and mostly saught after by "Slayers Players" which is my guild.
At the end of any mission or challenge or quest, it would be nice to observe your own rating of individual character comparisons 1-8 of best to worst performance. Also, a global rating to rate 1-8 compaired to all others who have rated before hand. Perhaps a rating of 8 would be better than any "#1" in previous runs of any particular field. Thus making that group a-freaking-mazing.

I hope you understand my ramblings. I'm all about the competition. My ideas are in response to so many people requesting certain builds. If I can emote or- respond in ANY way showning prowess for personal builds and success- w/o revealing my build, I will be accepted based on personal knowledge, not just researchability.
Again, thank you for directing my request appropriately.
Have a nice night!
Give me your questions or suggestions. I want to expand the data available for people who catagorically outclass their group.
I've been the worst char in a group before. Iwant to see this globally... maybe make me feel better;
OR I've been the best char in a group, my group rating is high, but globally I suck.
The idea is that you are rated across the board. This is difficult technologically, but soooo useful in a game that is a difficult judge of character initially. I hope I make good examples. Rip, trip and build me up. I want to know your opinons. Ultimately, I want my prospective incorporated into our beloved Guild Wars! Have a great day!!!! Rau

It would be coold to have total heal points per char and totaly damage points per char listed at the end. Maybe subsets as seen fit.
It would really be cool to see these as game play is happening, but this may bog a server. So tabulation and a presentation for all to accept at the end may be appropriate.

Meh. PvE is easy (DoA/Elite missions just require a different type of AI-exploitation), and you really cannot rate builds on any absolute scale when the effectiveness of them changes based on the area and player skill.
Besides, you'll get a bunch of people saying their echo-nuker is the bestest damage dealing PvE char and what-not. The signal to noise ratio would be horrific.

no kidding...that aswer depends on so many variables and situations it would be impossible to come up with a single answer that encompasses everything

i agreed, there is really no compare between the classes, it is simple, just like PvE and PvP, in PvE, u know what u up to against, in PvP, u never know

How does total points healed prove anything? What if my wammo tosses Healing Hands on himself outside yohlon haven?

PvP? Don't do it too much, but when I have its been a simple matter of taking in whatever build I have on and picking out the most appropriate enemies to kill.... and I can always find at least one. Simple as pie... no thought required. I usually die eventually... but not before taking down quite a few people myself. I don't really consider it that interesting either since the arenas are just about all the same... I only really play Fort Aspenwood more often as regards PvP.

Agreed, there are too many factors to include that equate to proficiency of use. For example, total points healed means nothing if you suffer a long cast or recharge time. When you start looking at prot like spells, it is impossible to calculate since skills like Prot Spirit and Shield of Absorbtion can regate a theoretically infinite amount of damage. Dps also means nothing if it comes in an unreliable and/or easily counterable form. The key to any effective build is not simply having high dps and strong healing ability, but also to have enough utility to be able to adapt to what obstacles there might be which may reduce damage and/or healing. Balance between utility and power is the true key, and it varies from situation to situation.

What about assassins? Our damage is all spikey, and we usually don't get to pull off more than 2-3 chains before the battle is over (in a TA match). It'd look like we were doing nothing :P

World of Warcraft has common 'damage monitor' addons that keep track of who is dealing the most damage, or putting out the most healing. It is understood that those are fun tools, but they are ultimately only really useful for terrible players. I.E., the players at the top of the DPS charts in raids are the people who aren't doing the other jobs the team needs doing, and are ultimately less useful because of it.
Not saying that DPS charts aren't useful, but that they lead to DPS worship and encourage weaker gameplay.

I believe there was (is) a 3rd party program (forgot name, I believe kuntz made it ) that would check the server for your character name and get date like "damage done, critical hits ( it would play the "headshot" quake sound if you critted ), healed, damage taken, deaths ( double kill, monster kill etc ).
