I just experienced something strange too....
When I loaded GW I got a big update. The game seems to have been rolled back or something. The ping icon has been removed, the old login button has been "restored", the version is now 19,-something and it's impossible to log on :S
EDIT: And now it has been removed again lol. Anyone know what's going on?

I also got some updates an hour or so ago (I dont have -image activated), was always the same file size which was wierd so I cancelled it.
When I connected again there where no more files to download (despite cancelling mid-download), looks like some kind of update-loop error.

Guild Wars was unable to connect to any login servers. This is very likely caused by an internet routing issue. If the problem persists, please visit the Guild Wars support website. (Code=058) |

Just logged in no downloads at all. not even a stream on the login page.
It might be good to write down your locations and do a tracert or use the -diag switch and see if you are all connected to the same data center or ones in close proximity. There may have been a problem at a specific center or group of centers that you guys happen to be connecting to.

We have received reports that some European players recently have experienced latency issues and packet loss, particularly at times of peak European concurrency. The network teams are investigating this matter and hope to have the problem resolved as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we get this situation solved.
It might be possible that in the process of trying to resolve the above issue someone tripped on a power cord.

I reinstalled Windows about 2 months ago and when I installed GW, I did a -image and downloaded all files.
Last week when they added lip sync I did the -image again and downloaded a lot of files as well that is more than just the updates.
What I;m trying to say that when they updated and even if you updated your copy, if you have not done -image then you did not get all the files.
After a bunch of updated all those files accumulate and thats why when doing a random -image downloads files.

ermmm ok. I just did an image. It downloaded less then 1 megabyte of data and decompressed 1900 files. My gw.dat is 3.14 gb
I reformatted about a month ago, which I do about every 6 months. I even downloaded the client from the website and -imaged the whole thing.
What I am saying is see if this problem is isolated to a specific data center or to something other then that. There are obviously more then one of you with this problem. checking to see if you are all in the same region or connect to the same data centers could point to a possible cause. Including but not limited to internal network statuses. It is not impossible that a server you connected to had to be repaired for some kind of failure creating the need for a back up to be used at that specific data center until an updated image can be obtained. (Speculation of course, I would hope they back up nightly)
My only other suggestion would be to dump or backup your existing dat file and re-image the whole thing. Maybe you have some corruption within the dat file.
As of right now 3:47pm CST I see no ui changes, nothing different then I did 5 minutes ago when I logged in without the client pulling any updates of its own.
I am located in the South Central portions of the United States. My diagnostic is no where near perfect either though, with most of the problems like packet loss and Latency increases occurring in the Tier 3 services in Washington.

If you keep getting a router error (#058) reset your router or internet connection...that often helps to stop repetitive errors.
And...-image should be ran after any major update that impacts various areas of the game.

I always -image as soon as I realise that there is a DL. Cancel and hit the image switch icon that I put on desktop cause I'm lazy.
It's now 23:45 and I just download another 10mb via image, now I'm able to logon
