I want to back up some files that are on my main desktop, espeacially some GW screenies, the problem is I have no idea how.
All I have is a few telephone cords, a few of those bigger cords (their tips are about twice the size of the telephone cords), and a router that fits only bigger cords with 5 sockets.
Your best bet would be to Google for a guide on setting up a home network and find one you can understand.

A quick solution if you don't want to go through the trouble of setting up a network, either use a USB drive or burn a CD with the files you want to backup or send them to yourself in an e-mail.

One little thing to add, in case you don't know - GW is extremely "transfer firendly". Just copy the EXE and DAT to the new computer and GW will even install itself properly when you run the executable.
