Wondering how much longer the servers will be running?.
Azarath
Ok i was just wondering (and plz forgive me if i have posted in the worng place) what is the estimate date, time etc etc to when the servers would be most likly be "shuting down" and or how much longer will the GW servers continue to be on?
A word id use for it is "obsolete".
When will this happen?, or is it unknown.
(ok maybe i worded it wrong but my consern is would this game be finished in a year? or maybe 3-4 years? thats all i really wonted to know)

There has been 2 expansions of Guild Wars since its release, that's 2 expansions within a very short time.
The 3rd expansion is already on the drawing board and the projected release date has been announced.
So, why would you consider that there would be a server shutdown date planned?
Lord-UWR
OK seriously, I am willing to bet you NCSoft has enough cash in hand to keep GW up until forever, even if the number of unique logs decrease.

as for when the servers might shut down, uhm, you can still play Diablo I and II, as well as Starcraft. It really doesn't take that much to run a server once the infrastructure is in place.
The Ernada
According to the GW doomsayers, the servers shut down a long time ago.

If one day the servers go down because there is not enough people playing I have "heared" that the devs would makes so that players still can playing on servers or something like that.

It will probably stay up as long as NCSoft exists. Say in 3 years, they release a new game and stop making GuildWars (GW would be a pretty obsolete engine, and computers would be able to handle much better games), people will move to the new game and the servers will mainly host those games, but some of the servers can still host GW.
Think about how Blizzard is handling StarCraft, Diablo 2, and WarCraft 3. As StarCraft got older and Diablo 2 came out, the servers were mainly handling Diablo 2, but it still ran StarCraft for the people who continued to play. Same thing happened when WarCraft 3 came out, the system still ran StarCraft and Diablo 2, but the servers were processing mostly WarCraft 3. Sometimes a server such as US-East goes down, suddenly you can't log into any of the games on the server.

I'm wondering if the OP came from another MMO, where they routinely shut down servers for maintenance?
GW's streaming update system means that they could move the entire game to another server, and you wouldn't even notice the difference, because it can be done while people are playing. Even if the servers were to become old or outdated, moving to a new server -SHOULD- mean no downtime, and unless we were told about it, we shouldn't even notice (at least, in theory. The best paid plans of mice and men...)
And GW will probably continue running for as long as ANet stays around. Even if they stop making GW eventually and move on to something else (GW2, for example,) they will more than likely keep the GW servers running to accomodate those who wish to play.
