Would you pay a subscription for ...
Vandal2k6
1) More storage space
2) The ability to use an auction system
I know one of the main points of GW is the fact we don't need to pay a subscription. However I reckon some of the reasons we don't get some of these things (I may be wrong here) is that it'll take more server space/usage which in the end costs Anet. If this is true, would you be willing to pay a small subscription ($2 a month maybe?) to have more storage and a decent working in-game auction.
This would be a totally optional thing, with the game staying exactly as is for the most part, but with the option to pay for this service (like the crafting material upgrade but for real money). This is not a sudgestion so this is why I've put it here and not in the idea forum. Just wondered what people thought?

if they want to implement this, they should place an NPC in the major towns at which you pay a 1 time fee to gain access. Like the Xunlai upgrade agent for example. No ingame feature is worth real money imo

Absolutely not on both. They second a monthly fee is introduced, I'm outta here, period. Doesn't matter, Gaile has said countless times that they will never have a subscription fee, which is smart.
Not that I don't like those two improvements, quite the contrary. But, I can understand the issues with server costs, and understand that it is a hurdle. I'm not holding my breath on any of it, but if they want to treat us, more power to them.

I wouldn't mind paying for the stuff like they have in the online shop atm, stuff like extra char slot or the weapons pack, but no i will not pay for subscription for any game ever. It's like paying a gas bill, but for a game :P

I will not pay a subscription fee.
I feel that both of these should already be in the game, my hope/belief is that at least the auction house of some sort will be coming in a future chapter. As far as more storage space, I believe the idea is for you to buy extra slots

things like that should be in the game in the 1st place in my opinion, especially more storage space seeing as we get new characters with every expansion which means there's more stuff to keep yet there is so little space

The reason I play this game is no fees. I have a hard enough time justifiying to my wife why I spend so many hours in this game as it is, having to pay a monthly bill on top of that would be just too much to ask for.

Definitely not on both, to me the main appeal on GW has been the no monthly fee side of it. I've never had any storage problems that a mule character couldn't fix and I've always used an auction site for my trades and the rest has gone to the merchant or to my friends.
Bryant Again
Well...I wouldn't pay a fee for it, but I'd buy it in the store, I guess.

I can, with no doubt, say this is wrong. the expensive part is the traffic. bandwidth. in comparison to that, the space each account takes on the servers is nothing. we get limited storage to stop us from hording everything, and keep a more vivid economy.
TheRaven
Like most of the responses already, I have to say No to a subscription. I would however pay a one-time reasonable fee in order to open up more storage for my account. However, I think it should still be capped in order to stop the hording issue that foo mentioned.
Some examples:
$10 fee to open up an additional 20 slots in storage. $20 for 40 slots. No more than 40 extra slots may be opened.
$10 fee to increase all material stacks from 250 to 500. (May be an issue when trading)
I doubt I would pay a fee for an auction house.

The cost of additional storage space should probably be imputed into cost of the game or the cost of the character slot. Each character slot should have its own storage, and if the costs are significant, the cost of the character slot should be higher.

paying for auction house would be stupid ... in that case it would all depend on how many people will pay to use it.
mostly only 100k+ traders and casuals with way too much RL money would buy it ... making it pointless to buy for ordinary masses (stuff they wouldnt ever afford OR godly unided purple 10-21 water wands).
Point of using auction house for selling is that everyone can purchase your stuff so that it makes dis1 spamming obsolete.
Point of using auction house for buying is that that you can see everyones stuff and pick what you like.
if ahouse is restricted to few people, it does not happen.

I do not understand the need or rampant desire for an auction house...can someone please explain?
I do not do a lot of selling my drops, but wouldn't an auction house stabilize prices and flood the market with people like me who have a lot to sell, but no time to do it?

An auction house would (I'm assuming) greatly decrease the amount of spam in outposts and cities. It would be a much better way for sellers to show their goods because they wouldn't have to spam it every 5 seconds. It would benefit buyers because it would be easier to find something they want instead of waiting for the specific buyer to advertise. Generally, it would make things easier for everyone.

I will NEVER pay ANY subscription at ALL for play GW, you can totally forget about it!
My main idea (when I bought GW) was play forever and ever for free without worries about stupid subscription fees. I am not forced to buy new campaigns, but if they expand a game I love, I must buy that expansions, it's a MUST if they make me love this game; so .. it's like a subscription, but I am NOT forced if I wanna play (I LOVE THAT!)

If Anet wanted to hit me up for say $5 in the online store to get it, sure, I'd probably buy into it. But I refuse to pay a monthly fee for it.
creelie
No to both, although a one-time fee would be acceptable. Just like for extra character slots.
ValaOfTheFens
A one time fee is ok. ANet needs more RL moneysinks that people will actually go for besides more character slots. I wish you could buy all non-elite skills for PvE from the GW store. I'd pay alot for that.
MagicWarrior
No to both. What drew me to Guild Wars was the no subscription fee (cause my available gaming time varies a lot). Of course, buying the different chapters can be seen as a subscription - but the key is that I have a choice WHEN I want to buy and not forced to every month. I wouldn't pay monthly for anything.

Subscription: hell no, even not a small one.
One time fee: Yes!

No to both. Any attempt to charge a subscription fee means I'm finished with the game and moving on too offline venues.

Subscription fees for extra services? Definitely NO.
One-time fee for an auction house? No, if we ever get one I believe EVERYONE has the right to use it.

I want to pay a subscription. Second thought no.

For me to say yes, the whole game would haft to be re-engineered, as great as it is, it's just lacking in areas that subscription based games have. Space and auctions are trivial things to what I really really want, I want to play as an Angchu Tengu!
Veripare
No to both. If Guild Wars introduces optional subscription fees then the game will become more unbalanced as it already is.
Bankai
Nope.

No to both.
No to a one time fee on either also.
Auction house would be useless if it was only available to the people willing to pay rl money on it.
If the idea behind limited storage is to keep the ecomony churning by stopping people hoarding. charging a fee where only some of the players have access to expanded storage would defeat this.

No, these are features that have been demanded many times and features that should be implemented with immediate effect.
So thats a big NO to both subscription fee and one time fee.

Also I have 13 character slots on one account, and I have the small Xunlai agent space to share between them all. I think this is more then ridiculous I should have 3x the space.

Frankly, I never have any problem with storage. Dont understand how people do have troubles, if your going to use, use it, if not sell it to someone who will. An auction house would be nice but if you dont over price it then you dont have problems selling things.

No to any subscriptions, but
1) More storage space - horribly small storage is the number 1 issue in PvE that actually prevents me from playing it. So a major FREE storage update is really needed, then i wouldn't mind them selling even more storage space for $$, and maybe would even buy some.
2) The ability to use an auction system - i have an idea: how about implementing an auction house available for everyone for buying and a very limited selling ability. Then sell in the online store a 'Power-Seller pack' greatly increasing the seller's options and the number of items that can be auctioned. I would certainly buy that!

I will not drop a dime on upgrades or subscriptions. Part of the appeal of this game is that it is free, once you pay for a campaign. The second a subscription is started, I'll find something else to do.
Captain Sarcastic
No to both. I can see a one-time fee in game currency for theses, but not real world money.
Honestly, the no-subscription system is what got me into GW.

No to both - I would not pay any subscription fees for anything in GW.
I would not pay a one-time fee for an auction house. This game is long overdue to have some sort of basic in-game trade system implemented. GW's utter failure to have any sort of in-game trade mechanism is one of its greatest failings. IMHO spamming chat and the little Trade section of the Search window are NOT trade systems, they barely qualify as inadequate afterthoughts at best.
I already have paid one-time fees for storage by buying additional accounts for me and my wife, just for storage.
