i know im not the only one who thinks this. the whole rank and fame deal is ruining guildwars. all you see in tombs is people yelling "r6++ group lf trappers" or "r3++ iway forming"
for one, iway requires no skill whatsoever so there is no reason people should be asking for rank for iway. things like asking for r6+ or r9+ is just insane. rank that high only shows that you have way too much time on your hands. also, rank doesnt even show your skill. rank and fame just show the skill of the group you were in. you could be the crappiest player ever, and just end up in good groups all the time. that nets you free fame, and suddenly all the noobs are rank 6. also, has anyone noticed how easy it is to lie your way into a high ranked group? i had a group convinced that i was using a new account and was r6 on my other one. (which is a blatant lie). guess what. WE LOST. everyone on the team was a total noob. they were terrible.
a more suitable substitute for rank and fame would be a counter that shows how many meritable feats you have personally completed. feats such as getting the final blow on the majority of the other teams players, or if you are a monk, it could be keeping htem all alive and getting a flawless victory.
this type of counter would actually show individual skills instead of just showing how good the group did as a whole.
rank/fame is ruining guild wars!

Either start your own unranked team or get guild members to join you. People like to see they've made progress when doing anything in life, therefore we have rank/fame.

Rank = indication of experience
experience = important
end.

People in my guild started rank farming, building a IWAY and going for it, when they have rank 3 they start bringing other builds.... builds they have absolutely no skill in.... so the rank system doesn't work as it supposed to, which was the spirit of the post, i didn't hear him complain about not being invited to groups.
Everyname Is Taken
i do agree that there shouldnt be an iway asking for r3+ people. the whole purpose of iway was suppose to be for helping to get higher rank.

look this is very simple.
If i join a rank 3 team, there is *MORE CHANCE* that they play better than a rank 0 team, sure it doesnt work out EVERY time, but there is a greater chance.
If i join a rank 6 team there is *MORE CHANCE* that they play better than a rank 3, and so on.
This is true, rank has meaning, if you cant find a group and you really are so good, you should be able to form a guild, teach a bunch of rank 0s, and have your own group.

i think some of you may have missed the spirit of the post. what im trying to say is that i dont think a game like guildwars needs the whole rank/fame thing. while i admit it is rewarding to see a nice big number in that box, rank and fame have become the whole determining factor as to whether people are good at the game or not.
i rarely do tombs, so i am only rank 1. i do however gvg quite often and have been told by many people that i am a very good player. i just do not find it fair that someone would think that i am not as good as them just because they have more rank than me. when guildwars was first released, (and before all the build nerfing and love of build of the month) you could go to topk and get into almost any group you wanted, and probably do pretty good. now, alot of people find it hard to get into groups because everyone wants high ranked players.
i dont know how to do it, i just think that there should be a system that shows how good a player actually is, instead of how many times they have been lucky enough to win.

If you want to make an original suggestion, go to the Sardelac Sanitarium forum. There are many threads over there about Rank/Fame. If you want to discuss it there are already threads in Riverside too about Rank/Fame. A simple search for "fame rank" in Sardelac and Riverside pulls up a lot of results (I'm not going to post all of them):
