It's less of a reward more practice makes perfect for the Treasure/Wisdom titles(finding and identifying items in mass #'s makes them easier to salvage(get worth) out of them. Sure, you could argue, you run a lot, you get fitter.....but that's faulty.
People who run a lot don't have an increase in normal walking speed.
Exploration and running aren't directly tied.
Running makes it easier, but it can be done just as effectively by fighting your way through the game/zones.

And, you sort of proved my argument. You use existing results from titles as part of your argument for more. What does Kind of a big deal get?
Surely a helluva lot:
All enemies have 10% less health.
Gold drops increased 10%.

Lets make drunkard give you more HP!?(less pain)
Lucky makes you non interruptable.
Hated gives you 10%+ on all attacks and damage causing skills(if they're after me I'm really going to give it to them...)

I've seen Soticotos idea already. While its a good idea it goes a bit too far and would crowd the U-map up and is a bit of an unfair advantage over those with out it, unlike Treasure Hunter where the effects are minimal until you get very high ranks in both.

The problem with implementing faster speed would be when changing between chars... If you've ever played Morrowind. There was an item which gave you +200 speed but a constant Blind. If you could eliminate the Blind you moved with +200 speed permanently. It was very nice... but the moment you took them off you seemed so insanely slow. It would become extremely fustrating moving 50% faster or somet on 1 char, then moving at a normal rate on another.

Aeon Xin.. you have some good points...

but if you quote someone, maybe you should refer to what they are talking about, and not what others are talking about... to me, it looks like you are supporting his idea that the wisdom title and such are earned and rewarded, but u turn it directly into running all over the arguments, then into a rant...

He and alot of us are saying that some other titles could use some "real rewards" and in my opinion, some should bring other such things... example, drunkard title.... i would expect you to build some tolerance over time and then it takes more alcohol to get title and such

Skill hunter, per each lvl of it, skills cost 5% less... GOD THAT WOULD BE AWSOME!!!! 1k each gets old real fast!

lvl 1. Kind of Big deal title cause +5% more dmg or something would be awsome, lightbringer title does that against certain enimies,
then lvl 2 People know me, recieve -5% dmg

Running in cities would be cool, but not take the travel speed as high as he recommends... bean cakes and such already cause 20% faster or so...

Mapping titles should give a bonus, if i have mapped 100% of the continent, i feel i should have some heads up on what is where... not like i haven't been in that area before

I feel incorporating titles to actual game will bring more ppl to get titles.. Sure seems to work with lightbringer title...

sorry almost forgot the best line in GW... execpt in PVP areas!

And what about those with the Unlucky title?

Seriously though... no.

Maybe the Friends of the Kurzicks / Luxons lines should get some sort of benefit with their particular side and penalty with the other, account-wide titles should definitely not be allowed special benefits. It would apply to all new characters from the start of the game, giving them an advantage that they wouldn't even have to work toward themselves. The game would be tipped on its head by something like that.

No it doesn't. Theres only so much you can have before you start getting really stupid.

This is something somebody suggested while i was playing Rock, Paper, Scissors the other day. Sweet Tooth, when displayed would give you a Sugar Rush, Conessieur etc would give you a Sugar Jolt. Drunkard gives you stage 1 drunk when displayed, Ale Hound gives you a completely pissed state. You quite literally bought this title as a money sink. It wouldn't really serve any purpose other than been amusing. It doesn't benefit you either.

I can only think of 1 place that increased move speed would be unfair. That was the Worm game in the Shing Jea Boardwalk... but even then you could use a Red Bean Cake/Sugary Drink. You could always just deactivate the use of title abilities in certain towns.

The only other thing i can think of is giving an account wide benefit. This mainly applies to the new n improved Skill Hunter titles if Anet ever implements them. Gaining the Skill Hunter for that continent reveals the location of the elites on the U-map for all characters on the account. Having to go to Guildwiki everytime you need to check where a boss is is very time consuming, specially if you've already capped it once, twice or maybe more times before that. This would ONLY happen if you have the maxed title for that continent. If a casual player wishes to attain it, they can do quite easily, its not rewarding hardcore players with unfair benefits.

Game doesn't animate or update most of the stuff that's out of players LoS (heroes are players).

This can be abused on some quests, Gyala hatchery for example, where moving out of NPC's range stops updating their dialog and doesn't trigger the spawns.

So not only does the client not receive the information about anything outside of radar range, but also the server itself isn't updating.

This makes sense, since updating hundreds, even thousands of entities that nobody can see is a waste of server power.

But back to the point, this can't be done - the only things that get update are the things you and other group members see. Everything else is suspended.

There shouldn't be much difficulty by simply placing the bosses, chests, collectors, and shrines.

Have the title give more information on the shrines, like what kind of blessing is available in Elona, and the Collectors window would open when you mouse over the collector symbol.

I didn't read the whole thread, but I can say by reading a few of these suggestions
/notsigned, it is a terrible idea to add all these things to the U map. I believe that when you are in an explorable area the game has only loades as far as your Radar is showing, Now say you are in Snake Dance (probablly one of the biggest explorable areas) and you open your U map and expand it, the game has not updated up near Grenth's Footprint and thus it doesn't show anything that is random (spawns, bosses, chests etc) because it has not loaded such things, yet.

The reward is already a +1 to KoaBD, it takes tons of time/cash to get +1 for KoaBD from Wisdom/Treasure Hunter. Getting the title should be a reward in itself. having a bonus to salvage is not something that could be considered overpowered, if you place boss spawns, chests, enemy spawns etc on the mission map it would give people with those titles an unfair advantage.

I think a bonus speed buff in town (I was thinking about this when I first found out about sweet tooth) should be given to people with the Sweet Tooth title (25% for first rank, 50% for second), the only way this could be taken advantage of is during the Shing Jea Boardwalk and even then you can use speed buffs. Chest spawns aren't even shown on the Mini-Map.

What about this?

- 0.1% Resurrection Shrines and collectors appear on map.
- 60% Can toggle on/off mission map [N] icons. They will appear active by default in combat zones, and deactivated in outposts.
- 70% Land signs appear on map.
- 80% NPC merchants appear on map (Traders, Crafters, Mercahnts, etc...).
- 90% Quest giving NPCs appear on map.
- 95% Boss spawn points appear on map, with boss name.
- 100%. Two buttons appear in the world map next to 'Close' and 'Leave guild hall' ones:
*Toggle fog: hides the exploration fog.
*Reset map: Returns the map to completely unexplored status. Has confirmation box. You'll keep the title after reseting, though.

So, after getting to 60%, you'll be able to show important NPC locations in mission map even inside towns.

/signed for soticotos idea though i think knowledge of enemy location should be higher then treasure chests.

also agree with the ability to turn it off to save bandwith.

I think that there should be some sort of reward for getting titles other than the bit under your name
Like the treasure hunter title where you get a better chance of getting stuff from salvaging items
A lot of effort goes into getting these titles, so i feel a little more effort should go into rewarding those who get them

Maybe for 60%, an upgraded map-like, put notes for areas of the map, just right click on the map and a little red dot will appear there, then mouse over it and type in what you need.

I like the idea, but I see some things which might improve it;

Why limit it just to inside towns? I dont see how using it in instances would unbalance anyone or anything, as it would be available to all (read bellow).

Have it work as a signet which you earn from a quest

Have the speed increase take effect only if/when activating a signet. A signet which you earn completeing a quest to find 60% of the map. Once you do so, you return to an NPC in one of the starter towns and he rewards you with it, in a similar fashion to the res-signet.

Then as you progress through the game and achieve the next level in the title, the signet's effect increases too.

This means we dont have the persistant speed increase which could get annoying, and it allows you to create an "explorer" build.

The signet should have limits though, such as a set time and energy side-effects. Perhaps lasting a few minutes and then it wares off, and it removes a set amount of energy over time. So you need to stop and regharge once it wares off.

Plus it cant be used in conjunction with other speed boosting skills/spells, otherwise we would have rangers running faster then the speed of light.

It would be purely a defensive skill, and not an offensive one. You couldnt attack while using it (debate-able), and since its only real use is to get from A-B faster, it couldnt be used to any real advantage over anyone else (except maybe running, but thats questionable).

But other then that I dont see a reason against it.
