I have had GW (The first one) since release but I only played it for about 5 min . So I was thinking I should give this game an other chance i was also woundering how long dose it usally take to hit 20 on average. Also what would be a good starting class to play.

In proph, first time would take a couple of weeks if you play casually. In one sitting you could do it in less than a day but that's rushing it. Take your time and smell the roses. It's a great game, you don't want to rush it the first time through.

I had Guild Wars Prophecies about a year before I seriously started playing it. I was playing WoW at the time and I never even had a Guild Wars character past level 6, Pre-Academy Ascalon.

When I picked up Guild Wars again, I had a blast.

Leveling is somewhat slower in GW:P but that's not a bad thing. No reason to rush to 20 or anything.

Out of all the Campaigns, I still feel Prophecies has the strongest storyline although Nightfall comes in at a close second in my opinion.

Note that GW isn't all about leveling up, most of the game is after level 20.

As far as profession, it doesn't take long to play a character to level 8ish to get a feel for what they are like so try them out. Otherwise state what you like - melee, ranged, caster?

You can get pets as rangers in guildwars. There pretty fun to play and kind of effective.

GW is more of a tactical pvp than a 'look at my 1337 item your dead' pvp. It's aim is to be balanced, and the devs make often changes to keep it that way. Of course it's fun and fast paced, but requires more tactics than grinding- to be better.
The only thing money is really used for is to get better looking armor, not better stats. You can buy cheaper- max stat armor if you don't wanna spend loads on expensive gear just for the looks.

Hope this helps

There are lots of options in PvP. 4 vs 4 random arenas, 4 vs 4 team arenas, 8 vs 8 Guild battles or Heros ascent battles, which are either 6 vs 6 or 8 vs 8 - they're playing around with that one right now. You can create a PvP character that can use anything you've unlocked in the game, skills, runes, weapons mods. PvP characters are automatically level 20.

Sounds like you'll like playing a Ranger. Uses Bow & arrows(unlimited supply of free arrows FTW!!!), can take a pet, and do lots of neat stuff that you'll pick up later.

In takes a while to level up, but take your time (I'm only level 3 ) there a lot of things to do besides leveling up.
