So unless i missed something major, im pretty sure that the 100 highscores are all coming down to luck. Pretty much the only way you can get above 450k points, which doesnt even put you on the list atm, is to get at least 2 superrollers and not get knocked down.

The race is cool and all but after winning 12 straight and not breaking 450k mark once, the whole top 100 get a prize is fading away.

But anyway. Anyone has tips on the race, post them here. Or in a bit i may make a roller beetle race guide.

My tip: roll around before the start of a race to build up a small amount of momentum. Then as the timer hits 0 charge forward out of the gate and instantly use the skill "Ram" for a boost of speed and to knockdown all close foes.

When cornering, dont go to close to the edge, as u will rubberband, then get thrown back...VERY ANNOYING

Getting in the top 100 requires you to have a rare combo of bonuses. The "Super Rollerbeetle" and the echo skill, making you immune to knockdown and make you roll alot faster for 16 seconds. Along with a good start, you should end up quite high, let alone if you get this combo twice.

So I agree, this is all about luck.

If I wasn't rubberbanding left and right this would be a lot easier to get high score. But I won quite a few times and highest I got was 449.

I'd say it's definitely based on luck. Once I got two super rollerbeetles in a row and got about 20,000 more points than usual. But yeah, you should avoid rubberbanding.

Another trick - at the start, harden your shell and dash ahead because this is a popular spot for mass ramming, and can greatly affect your place at the end of the race.

My highest so far is 447k.

The top 100 should have been decided by the number of consecutive wins instead of the score in my opinion. About the RollerBeetle Echo + Super RollerBeetle combo, I just noticed the boxes respawn very fast so you can basically camp there for 2 seconds and if you're lucky you'll get those two skills. It doesn't help that Super RollerBeetle is completely overpowered to begin with. My highest so far was 458k, which I got at the start when a lot of people didn't know what to do. Now that more people are competing for the top 100 it's getting even more difficult to achieve high scores.

I kind of disagree wtih the most con. wins as this could be achieved by people with simply nothing better to do. Perhaps something like best average score (with a minium of say 10-20 wins or something like that) would be more appropiate.

Super RollerBeetle is defitnaly overpowered I led an entire race until about Checkpoint 6 until someone got one and came from last to first.

Having said that, this is defitnaly the best minigame i have played in GW.

You get 9 lunar tokens for first place. Everybody dies except you, so you get to do a little victory dance. Then you automatically join a new race, kind of like PvP where you keep trying for consecutive wins. Nothing special.

I love this minigame.. lots of fun. I was originally determined to get in the top 100, but the highest I've gotten so far was around 440k... not even high enough to show up on the list. And that was with a very clean run too.

The rubberbanding sucks! I notice it especially in the "turn inside a turn" towards the end of the course. Incredibly annoying to be fighting for the lead going in, only to come out in the back of the pack cause you got "stuck" to the inside of the turn.

Great game, but don't know how anyone gets in the top 100.

It all depends on alot of Echo's and Superbeetles now, even the minimum is far from my maximum (554K). I guess there's not prizes for me.

And Swift, share your secrets!

The game's netcode is currently too terrible for them to have even considered a racing game in the first place. And that is to say nothing of their horrible hit detection and invisible wall system.

I got 450,640 once, it was just cause I got good pickups though.

the highscores all come down to 3 things
super pickups: getting super roller/echo in every crate
no lag at all
not getting knocked down by players

i think the mini game is horrible. its a good idea. and it would work great if it wasn't for the horrible game engine supporting it. rubberbanding is horrible, the race-mechanics are bad, slowing down while going downhill? speeding up when going uphill? ... lag is worse than any other area i have been in. (even if it shows you next to 5 enemies you probably wont get any with ram, just because the game doesn't think you're actually where you are)

to sum up: the game is technically a good idea, but practically with the engine, lag and luck literally deciding races the game sucks

i think it is funny that people complain about not getting in the top 100...3 million + sold and everyone wants to be number 1 heh.

Anyway I seriously haven't ran into the rubberbanding issue that alot of people have, guess im lucky on that part (best score is only 442k tho, no lucky with the powerups)

To me its just like Mario Kart (which I loved), I'd love to have this as a perm feature.

Looks like a ripoff of mario kart. Plays nothing like it.

My tip is to stay away from it unless you are just looking to kill time.

I don't think it's fair for only the top 100 to get a minipet.

My computer lags to much to even hope to get that high of a score.

I rubberband around corners, and get stuck in the middle of the staircase at the very end.

I went from 1st to 4th because of that staircase. :S

It's sorta like Mario Kart... if you cut off Mario's legs and blindfold him..

The lag is what really gets me though... I can't truly race because I'll "lag stick" on walls, and I don't think the game's recognized me as "ramming" someone even once yet no matter how many times I've bumped into them and used the skill.

I love the concept, it just doesn't translate well with GW's game mechanics.
