i dont own any of the Guild Wars Games, but am definatley going to get one of the 3 here soon.
I was thinking about just buying The original over Nightfall.
and i was just wondering how active online the original is compared to Nightfall and Factions.

The original is still quite active. If you ask almost anyone, they will say the original is the best of all, and I'm one of them. Not just that, but I'd say it's the easiest to get into. Nice lengthy "noob world". You might even think it's the real game at first.

prophecies is by far the best story ever and best gradual increase in pretty much everything too. Unlike all the others (Factions, NF, EOTN) theirs plot twists not just defeating an ancient old power or person or w/e. Also unlike NF and factions you gradually increase in lvl, party size, and probably other things i cant think of atm. you dont shoot up to lvl 2 in the first 10 seconds of the game and lvl 10 in like 2 hrs. the monsters dont go from being lvl 12-14 to lvl 22 all of a sudden. this campaign is defiantely a have fun campaign not gatta beat this gatta beat that. i recommend this campaign instead of any of the others. (just dont get a run everywhere, it takes the fun out of the game and the storyline
)
as you can see i like phrophecies alot

Prophecies was certainly the most fun campaign to play, but I completed it when it was the sole campaign so there was no problem finding fun social groups.
Nightfall had a pretty good story and allows you to recruit heroes(your own NPC helpers). Heroes are great when you can't find a group of real humans to play with. You can designate the skills your heroes bring for synergistic builds.
IMO If you're only going to play through a single campaign, then get Prophecies. If you're going to play multiple campaigns get Nightfall first.
EDIT: I just noticed this is a very old thread errantly ressurected...
