PvP Weapons Not for that Profession
Adam of Tyria
Hey I Love to PvP, but theres always something I have been wondering. Why do some proffesions use different weapons than theyre profession? For example, in HA there's always monks using spears....why? I know some have different mods, but wands always offer more energy, and the monks never use skills that they might need the weapon for (cripple, sundering, etc) Please answer.

no they do not use them for attacking
you will often see pvp monks using swords/axes/spears and shields why you ask?
swords offer more soild mods then just a wand. +5 e always +30/or 20% enchanting
shields offer monks a lil def boost 8 base al cause they dont meet the req, but they offer carry multiple +10 vs ______ and +30 health... so for instance you would have a +10 vs slashing dmg shield when you facing iway etc..
the only reason a monk would use a wand is for the +15/-1 mod but thats only for last resorts.
oh sorry as for the sundering mods its just a mod to fill the space :P

- Martial weapons offer bonuses that Wands do not. Compare a wand's *conditional* +5 energy to a constant +5 energy on a spear. Also, Crippling upgrades help to buff the cripple time from [skill]Return[/skill] - a popular skill for monks. Top this off with the fact that a martial weapon can also have, say, a +30 health mod or 20% enchanting mod and you'd realise that wands are pretty crappy by comparison. All they offer truly is casting/skill recharge mods - I'd take them on an ele where firing spells off as fast as possible is the plan, but it's simply not needed on a monk.
