As a lot of you know, the free treasure chests were reset about a month ago allowing your characters to get them all again. Discussion here:

So question is, do you think they will do it again this month or was it a fluke? This friday or Saturday would be the 2nd month anniversary. Personnally, I hope they do it. With 10 toons, I made about 125k from money and salvages. If I actually got something good to sell, it could be much higher.

I think last time it was reset on accident with the HoH update. That update caused alot of problems with aggro in UW too.

I think the only reset we got was unintended. But by the time they discovered it it must has been too late, and to fix it at that point would've made a lot of people complain ("I was too late to get it and my entire alliance is now richer than me by...20k. Wah wah wah").....I think you can imagine how ugly it would have got, right?

Definitely would be nice if it got a reset. With each update, I usually go out and check just to make sure. I guess we will find out in about a few days on if was intended or not. On a different note, if I was a bad guy and found my "buried treasure" gone or my chest empty after someone looted it, I sure wouldn't bury it or put loot back into those same places and chests!!

I don't think they'll reset the chests again. Unless another patch comes out and somehow reset it.

Does this apply to the "Do not touch" treasures as well? Or only the chests?

I might be the only one who thought it was intentional. I just thought it was something Anet was doing so that no one could complaing about not having money. I am glad I took advantage of them all though, both times with all characters. I am actually looking forward to the next reset, guess we'll see then if it was a fluke or not.

IMO, getting the protector and cartographer title should both reset them again for that char. Once the guardian title gets implemented, have that reset it as well. Even extend the idea to the other chapters.

My personal theory, was that the reset was intended to keep mainly-PvErs out of HA during the experimental changes!

I know in my heart it was unintentional, but I sure would appreciate it if they'd do it again every now and then. Without farming there is no realistic way to achieve the wisdom titles, so this helps. (And hey, a rare drop that I would actually use would be icing on the cake!)

I have had 100 dollars worth of fun out of those chests, lol i wouldnt mind a reset. But C Ras is right, i wouldnt bury more treasure if someone had allready dug it up. What they should do is, every time a patch comes out they should plunk down a new chest somewhere. This would give a lvl of excitment to exploring All the zones out there

Or they monitored the ammount of chests opened, and used that to determine if/when to reset it.

I doubt they'll reset it again, everyone would just get rich really quickly. Glad they did though, made a good 20k and gained a few gold weapons to sell.

If they kept resetting it, the for-profit farmers would probably have a field day (and by for-profit, I mean the ones that sell in game gold for real life money). So, I don't see it happening. Maybe at some crazy farther point down the road, but not any time soon.

I liked the idea in the other thread of resetting them based on the time since the character has previously opened them - say, 30 days after a character has opened one, it can be opened by that character again.

A reset would be nice. Especially the Cavern treasure. That one takes too much time to find and then you get owned by those Sear Flames djinns. Well I did the first time. The second time I used the Heket in the room to make 2 Wells of Blood. 
I haven't gotten the stuff beyond the Mirror of Lyss yet. Most of the items have crappy reqs but sell for absurd amounts of gold.

Resets would be nice, but not every month, maybe every 6months, or when chapter4 is released and NF's aniversary

Well you never know... I've had a couple of rare armours drop for my Mesmer recently. Then went and got a Margonite Armour from the Domain of Pain chest while capping Healer's Covenant. Transferred them to my Ranger for IDing and wound up with 2 Sup Vigours. Although its my monks first time through.
I really can't tell... it would be nice if Gaile would actually comment on it and tell us if this is intentional, if so, how often will it happen, if not, what do they plan to do about it. I tried a few chests on my Ranger and got nothing earlier so...

Weirdness ensues. I took a different character to 4 chests. I got the same amount of gold, 3 gold items and a purple. Not sure what to make of it. I'll check the rest and use other characters tomorrow.

Ok, I was on early tonight and I was talking to a guildie of mine who is actually really trusting and the first thing he asks me when I got on was "hey...are you able to to get the chests?" So I asked him "you mean the free treasure chests?" he said "yeah". I said..."well, I already got them, they all say they are empty". I check after every update to see if they got resetted. He then said that early this evening or early this afternoon (cant remember which) he was able to get the chests again. I've gone with him the two previous times (the original and then the unintential setback), and tonight he was able to get them for a THIRD time on his Sin and Dervish (the characters he used awhile back). I'm not sure if it was some rare glitch or what, but this guildie of mine, who I trust as a friend, wouldnt have gone out of his way to mention something like this especially since it is not of his personal character to "make things up". At first I thought, he might have forgotten about them on one of his characters and he was just mistaken, but when he mentioned his Sin and Derv, I knew something was strange. Both I and another guildie went to went out to try the chests, but came up empty. Strange: yes! Did anybody else happen to have any other similar events earlier??

i carnt of seen them putting the effort to make keyless chests and never reset them it would seem pointless if it was one time use

More times than not, the items in the chests are crap. So, unless they plan to offer better weapons in those chests, what would be the point?

I just got 16K in little more than an hour. The weapons I picked up weren't staggeringly good, but were mostly Req 9, with only the Istan ones being less than Max damage (and they both had strength and honor inscripts, one 14>50, the other 15>50). Not to be sniffed at, IMO.
