Giving something like a minipet is a bit pointless unless customised. They might aswell give you a little cash :P Whatever it is i'm sure you'll get one simply from buying the CE edition of the next chapter. As cool as some people think minipets are they in no way distinguish old timers from anyone else, which i think is what most people would really like.
I too am a victim of deleting some of my older chars, but if all we get is another minipet i won't loose any sleep over it :P The /age emote is a cool feature but theres only you who gets to see it.
I'd like to see a title, you have the option to show it, or not, but i'd also like to see it relate to number of hours played in that time too so different levels. For year 1 you get title name (1), year 2 title name(2) if they did that then i could live with just getting a minipet (only ever gets trolls and devourers :P)

That would be a cool idea seeing as it would be something you couldnt trade in game. All that wore these clothes would definitely be 2 yrs old. Only problem with this would be storage... Maybe it could be a single item, that when you double click it, it changes your appearance until you double click it again(again customized for your acct as not to trade it)

It's been suggested, even more pointless than minipets. Some PUGs are finicky and don't want any hench or heroes. The time you'd get the most out of such a feature is when you're playing alone. Atleast with minis, you can use them while in a full party.

Allow me momentarily to throw the connection to 2nd birthdays out of the window and say that if they sold such a thing... I would spend ALL my money on them.

That way at least, everyone could have their favourite creature as a mini-pet... the variety would be quite epic... and no longer would towns be dominated by Kuunavang and Varesh.

Furthermore, they would be effective indicators of where a character had been. Having Mini-Glint could actually mean something... as could a Mini-Urgoz. Of course I'd get a Mini [wiki]Mungri Magicbox[/wiki] and Mini [wiki]Star Ancient Koosun[/wiki]... ^_^ ...

Why even bother keeping track of the age of my account and the total number of hours played if I dont get rewarded for it?

My original PvE characters do not exist, yet my account is almost 2 years old and I've never had a birthday present!!!

Its kinda silly that I signed up the same day that "average joe gamer" did, yet he gets a pet because his character is still there after 1 year. And I get nothing because I started new characters to change names/faces/genders. My account is just as old as "average joe gamer" and I've dedicated just as much time with more than 2500 hours logged, yet I get squat.

I think this is something Anet should definitely take into account as I have been playing just as long as these other people they are rewarding but have to wait about 9 more months for ym reward because i decided my first two characters were not working out/i wanted to remake them.

Well well well, I guess I'm not the only one after all.

This is what happens when new hairstyles and faces are introducted to new chapters and you have no available character slots to make new characters. This was prior to anyone reaching their 1 year anniversary so know one new about getting a present and this was prior to anyone being able to purchase extra slots. If I knew then what I know now.............

I still vote for getting useful items. The comment about extra storage space would be nice. If they are cosmetic, then something like name changes, hair/face/skin changes would be awesome.

I'd be happy about anything really... it's a free addition to a great game..

But if i REALLY had to think hard: Auras or titles... yes that'd be neat... Auras for wpns/spits/whateveryour'eluggingabout that you could turn on/off, different colours for different ages... neat! Or the same for armor. Titles, yes, nice, good idea... Although "Geezer (1), Old Fart (2)" and so on might offend some ppl...

A second year Birthday present would have to be something special. Another mini pet wouldn't show just how long you've been there unless it was assigned as a second year present and nothing else (But where is the fun in that?)

However, for my character's second year birthday I would enjoy having a new skill made that could be activated in towns. Like say I press number 6 on my skill bar and a spotlight falls on me as a heavenly tune belts out "Happy Birthday to You!" *haha*

Oh sigh...that would be great! And all the first year players would be envious of me

I feel sorry for the people with Accounts that will reach 2 yrs old and recieve nothing. I think they should perhaps get a random mini-pet.
But it should be different if your Character/s turns 2 yrs old. Thats far harder to achieve then just an account ageing.

Having a character slot reach 2 years old should be something worthy and should be a true distinction.
And for the repeat posters complaining about there accounts not getting anything seriously STFU and stop bitching, no one forces you to delete characters.

After reading several posts in this thread, some people wants aura, some mini-pets, some weapons/items etc. My suggestion is why not let the people decide what they want. Anet should make a poll of the things that people wanted the most, then get the top 5 of that poll and make that options for the player to choose from. That way everybody happy. What do you think?

It is NOT, I repeat, is NOT harder to achieve a 2 year character vs. a 2 year account. You can have a mule character for storage sit there and rot for 2 years and never use it and still aquire birthday presents! It was actually much much harder for me to delete characters and start from scratch and bring them back up to the level of my old characters. Aquiring new items/armors/completing missions/quests/opening up the map in multiple chapters. (Seriously its much harder to start over than you might think).

It should be an all or none type deal. Its great that Anet is giving out presents to reward people for characters birthdays, but if your bringing gum to share with the 1st grade and 2nd grade class then you better bring enough for everyone. It was a half baked idea and Anet heart is in the right place, yet they didnt think it thru and overlooked a lot of people. (I did and I still do feel left out) Its rather rude of Anet to over look the rest of the Guildwars community in this way. Either give gifts based on account age or dont give them at all. Thats my opinion and I'm intitled to it. I wish Gail would chime in on this subject because I dont know if this problem was ever addressed. Please no flaming.

On another note, I am looking forward to getting a present since I had to wait for a year longer than everyone else. I'll even go as far to say that I would like a better present as compensation for not getting one last year

With round one of the minis being from Chapters 1 - 3, I'd dare guess that there's a chance round two will be from Chapters 4 - 6 (assuming a similar three chapters per story concept). So, if someone gets their second year mini, and it's a critter no one's seen before, remember... you read it here first!

The first series of birthday minis was actually only Prophecies and Factions. I would expect mostly Elonian monsters for the second annual series. And recall, Factions was already out on the one year anniversary so it's not like you're going to get to see any secret monsters from upcoming campaigns, particularly since they aren't even finished and haven't been finalized...
