When you accept the offer from Sir Tydus to join the Ascalon Guards and you enter the Ascalon Academy, there is no turning back: After you've accomplished the academy trial fight you see the Searing (the destruction of Ascalon by the Charr) happening in a cut scene and - after a "time warp" - you find yourself in the post-searing Ascalon City ruins, two years later.
I was wondering if these inevitable deaths triggered by the "trial fight" would affect the survivor title of a new character. Anyone with answers?

They certainly do count against you, but the answer to this is to simply log out once the battle starts. When you log back in you will be at the point after the PvP element with a Hench team ready to complete the quest.

If your on the lucky side you can actualy run back pretty far up the steps, IF you also mean if your team loses and you die they do NOT count.

You can try your luck and just not run down into the fight or log out and log in again

uh, I just got bugged. I logged out the moment I entered the arena, and whenever I try to log in right now, I get 007 error right at the loading screen. Did I just do something wrong? O_o

Another thought is to just pick an "off time" to make the transition. I've gone from pre to post several times and many times I ended up fighting henchies on the other team with my henchie teammates.

If you wait until you're Level 8+ to sear, it's easier to win.

I have also found that if you go to post at a weird time, say 2 in the morning, when there is absolutely no one else there to fight, the game just skips the battle altogether.

Last time that happened I was running a lvl 1 ele to post carrying 16k I had no use for from my permapre character - sent me directly to the charr hunt.

There is also another thread by someone who got stuck because they logged out during the battle. I don't know if he ever solved the problem or had to delete the character - might search for that thread and see.

That's a common bug. One of my characters had to be deleted because of it. Have been very careful to not disconnect during any part of the Academy ever since.

I bet they opposing team scream when they see a LDoA coming, and that goes tenfold for "Survivor" hopefuls.

[Oddly enough, I've never seen this and didn't know it happened. My Necromancer (only Tyrian character to reach post-searing) never had to do this....]

Your 007 error will probably clear up if you totally exit the program and then log back on. It's just a network connection error.

Verify your internet connection is good if exit/restart doesn't work. If that doesn't help, try rebooting.

As with any of the errors, you can always reinstall GW if you're totally hosed. Everything is saved on Anet's server, not your own PC.

Helpful answer, but in this case incorrect. It actually is a bug and none what you suggested will help to it.

I just moved my warrior to post searing and there was no pvp battle. I was sent directly to fight the Charrs.

When I went through with my survivor warrior I got to the PvP battle and bailed out. Logged back in and was in Post-searing Ascalon. Things may have changed since.

Oh, you guys are talking about the 4v4 kill count battle?

IMO it's very simple. I was ferrying items over from pre-searing to the outside world so I was not even to lv.2 yet. The opposing team had a LDoA so I was like... yeah, this isn't going anywhere /resign no deaths incurred, problem solved.

You can /resign out of the fight and not incur a death penalty... or is this a rare case where /resign actually counts towards your deaths?

its simple all you have to do is enter the battle then leave right away.

kinda screw your team..... but I mean its nothing serious lol
