Can't make a lion mask

Right, I got a lion mask and showed it to the guy in Lions Arch that makes hats for you. Now to save space I deleted the hat from my inventory safe in the knowledge that for 10g I could make a new one for any of my characters.

Wrong! I go to the guy in LA to get a hat for one of my other characters and the lion mask isn't on the list! All my other hats are available but there isn't the option to make a lion mask even though the guy had seen the hat and told me that I could return to get one made at any time.

Anyone else getting this bug?

I just checked and it will let me make one for any of my characters.

edit: It appears I am mistaken. I suppose I misread the hat creator's dialogue. I still prefer to keep a backup to avoid the problems the OP is having.

The above is what is refered to as a false statement.

That would defeat the entire purpose of having a creator in the first place.

Have you tried all of the hat guys in the other cities? It's better than nothing... that stinks though. :P

Yeah, just checked all the hat guys. No luck I'm afraid, none of them have the option to create the Lion mask, they all have my other hats/masks available but not the Lion Mask.

Pretty peed off with that to be perfectly honest. Shame I can't sue the hat maker for false advertising as they told me I could have a new mask anytime for 10g.

Probably a good idea to make a hat before you delete your last copy just to make sure it works. Sorry for your loss.

Haven't had that problem. I know for me, I once assumed he said I could get a hat for 10g since I showed him so many hats in the past. But what happened was that I put my hat in storage and another character took it out and took it to the hat guy. So instead of being able to replicate it again for 10g he said that he was unable to copy a hat made for another character.

So not sure if maybe you had done the same thing too.

He doesnt have a scroll bar on the right of the dialogue window does he (with the Lion Mask button off the bottom of the display)?
I'm sure you'd probably notice if this was the case, but sometimes we all miss little things, so I thought I'd throw it out there. [A guildie of mine thought he lost Gate of Pain until I suggested he try scrolling the map ]

Really? Because when you show a hat to the vendor, you're supposed to be able to retrieve a new one on any character on the account...

Yeah, you have to show him the hat on the character it's customized for. Otherwise he'll say something like, how's he supposed to tell how it's supposed to fit if the hat's not worn by the owner or something.

But when you show it to the vendor, it has to be assigned to that character. Toon A cannot take a hat assigned to toon B to the hat guy to have it made. Toon A needs to take his own hat. Then, any of the toons on the account can get the hat.

Had no problems making a lion mask for my warrior when only my ranger had one... :S

is the hat customised to that charachter, or for another one, if its for another char you may not be able to do it

The hat maker will make hats for _any_ of the chars on the account that showed it to him...

That wasn't the question, though; the question was "did the original hat belong to the character that brought it to the hat maker"?

In this case I'd assume this was the case since the OP says that the hat maker said that he/she could come back and pay 10g to get a hat any time.

To be safe, I always make a test hat before deleting. I'm inherantly a cynic when it comes to software.

Yeah, the mask I originally showed to the hat maker was customised for my mesmer, Vampyric Phantasm, who recieved the hat and also showed it to the guy.

Oh well, at least it's not something serious that can affect gameplay.

Get you char "Vampyric Phantasm" to make another hat , the if that works try on another char on that acc...
