A/W Physical Tank
Samurai-JM
Before you even start saying OMG SINS CANT TANK just take a look at this:
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Build:A/any_Chkkr_Farmer
^Made by me, favored by Wiki. Originally named the Chkkr Farmer before I realized it could do so much more than just farm all 4 Chkkr bosses. For example, how many Assassins do you know that can SOLO Shiro Tagachi at the Gate of Madness? (VIDEO IS BELOW!!!)
The Weapons should be Zealous Daggers of Fortitude or Warding or something along those lines.
The Armor should have enough radiant insignias/runes of attunement to get at least 30 energy and 400+ hp, and preferably Nightstalker's insignias for extra armor bonuses.
General Chkkr/physical damage boss farmer:
[skill]Critical Defenses[/skill][skill]Unsuspecting Strike[/skill][skill]Wild Strike[/skill][skill]Critical Strike[/skill][skill]Moebius Strike[/skill][skill]Death Blossom[/skill][skill]Way of Perfection[/skill][skill]Shadow Refuge[/skill]
Unsuspecting Strike can be swapped for Jagged Strike if a condition > spike.
Dark Escape can be changed for Way of Perfection is a running skill isn't needed.
Simple enough strategy here:
1. Use Dark Escape + Shadow Refuge to run to the boss, avoiding as many aggros as possible.
2. When you reach the boss, pull it away from any surrounding mobs with a longbow.
3. When the boss approaches, cast Critical Defenses and use the first two attack skills.
4. Spam Moebius Strike and one of the dual attacks:
5. Death Blossom for straight damage up to 50% health.
6. Critical Strike for a critical + energy and all damage after 50% health.
7. Use Shadow Refuge/Way of Perfection as needed for healing in the 25% defense gap.
This build can also be used effectively in general PvE, just replace Dark Escape and maybe even Shadow Refuge with other support skills.
-------------------------
Shiro Solo. Yep thats right.
[skill]Critical Defenses[/skill][skill]Unsuspecting Strike[/skill][skill]Wild Strike[/skill][skill]Critical Strike[/skill][skill]Moebius Strike[/skill][skill]Wild Blow[/skill][skill]Way of Perfection[/skill][skill]Shadow Refuge[/skill]
(Unsuspecting Strike and Wild Strike can be replaced by Golden Pheonix Strike so that Death Blossom can be kept in the attack chain)
(Only do the above if you don't plan on helping out in the mission itself very much)
Mostly the same as before, but with a few differences:
1. After the Lich is dead, send your party around the perimeter to get the bonus.
2. Put up Critical Defenses and Way of Perfection, maintain WoP as much as possible.
3. Use Unsuspecting Strike, then WAIT for Shiro to use Battle Scars before you use Wild Strike.
4. After this happens, Begin spamming(not as fast as before) Critical Strike and Moebius Strike to keep Crit. Defenses up forever.
5. Watch what skills Shiro uses, as soon as he uses Battle Scars, use Wild Blow or you WILL DIE.
6. The first half of his health can take a long time, be patient and keep at it.
7. After 50% is gone, constantly spam Critical Strike and Moebius Strike, but DON'T FORGET ABOUT BATTLE SCARS!
8. By the time the group finishes the bonus, you should have Shiro around 25% health and dropping fast, and your group can either sit back and watch, or join in to finish it faster.
Yes this works, as long as you don't mess up.
This build also works on Shiro at the end of Factions, but you'll need a few damage dealing heros(not henchman, they get banished) to get past meditation of the reaper.
VIDEO OF ME SOLOING SHIRO AT GATE OF MADNESS!!!
* Note: you do NOT need a monk to heal you, I just wanted to be safe in case I messed up, and I actually did once or twice from talking to teammates :P
* Also, the first half or so of the battle was cut off because of the massive length and size(it was an 8 minute battle) The first half of his hit points go VERY slowly since you can only attack once every 6 seconds really, but once it hits 50% it goes down very quickly.
* The point of the build is NOT to solo Shiro, although it is easily done and fun to show off, it is mainly used to tank him and get his health low while the team gets the bonus with no hassle. No shame in keeping one party member behind if the rest of the team can handle themselves against the shrine guards.

And here it is in Cantha with the same build:
Ashe.
This seems pretty cool, i'm definitly going to check this out.
But just a suggestion, if your only using Shadow Refuge to run away why not just throw in Feigned Neutrality?

Use Feigned in the PvE version I guess, but for soloing Shiro, use Shadow Refuge. its a much better in battle heal.

*bump* any more comments/concerns here? sry for doublepost
Neverending Silence
This is only good against melee, its got nothin to defend against hexing, heavy degen, spike. But then again not many builds have almost all counters covered and still kill effectively. Still melee its good, other than that i wouldnt use it. PVE most definetly tho

Once I get my assassin there I will try this.

Yea, if you try it in PvP of any kind, your dead. Im working on an assassin that can take casters... but theres not that much to work with. The Shadow Refuge/WoP are usually enough to counter most normal PvE mobs as long as your in a decent party with a monk or two.

What about AB if you consider that PvP.

Haven't tried it in AB yet, might work there, but still probably best in PvE

Btw assassins cant do dmg, they are only for condition stacking, which is why mending is so popular.

Assassin still can't tank, because this build is not about tanking at all...
Try this in DoA, that's true tanking.

Possibly one of the most retarded comments on this forum if you are being serious.
If you are being sarcastic, can you end it with /endsarcasm or something.
But if you ARE serious...Assassins have the most powerfull melee spike combos in the game. Coupled with BoA it can be extremely fast and efficient.
Assassin don't do damage by autoattacking because dagger 7-17 base damage is puny...but when one of em unleashes a combo it is stagering.
Oh and btw...Mending is not popular. The only people who use it are farmers and l33t Wammo's.

I watched the video, and you would have died without the monks and all the boosts, though you did get the job done.
However, a riposte warrior can do what you did and to better effect most likely.
But don't get it wrong, you would have died against Shiro if the monks weren't casting spells on you, my friend, and a warrior will still kill that build, but success is success.Congrats.

Anyways, 'sins don't have much in the way of self-heals anyway, it has Shadow Refuge which is about as good as it gets (poor 'sin). It really doesn't need one though, it relies on not getting hit. And I believe the OP meant to have WoP on the 2nd build...

I'd like to see you wammo through Shiro and his Impossible Odds. You won't even have enough energy to use both Deadly Riposte and Wild Blow without a zealous weapon, and then you have no healing you can use besides Heal Sig (dangerous) and Lion's Comfort (more adrenaline....)
And you expect to be able to charge up Riposte every second... how? Auspicious Parry/Riposte will only work for a few seconds when Shiro enters Impossible Odds stage and strikes you 4/6 times per hit.

The condition spread would blow away a Riposte warrior (tried it, got creamed). This build is very efficent, I must say, and the guild was going nuts when they saw me use it xD.
My main issue with it is surviving without the monk casting HB on me. Too much damage, not enough healing for my tastes. Thx for the build ^^

Why not try build with blinding powder instead of critical defenses?
Blind is 90% chance to miss and it lasts 12 seconds and recharges in 20.
Here is my solo build.
Unsuspecting strike, wild strike, critical strike, Moebius strike, death blossom, blinding powder, shadow refuge and feigned neutrality.
13 dagger, 11 shadow arts, 12 critical strike.
Can spam critical strike, moebius and death blossom with no letup. inflicts large amounts of damage.
Plus you blind all adjacent foes and you have 2 different healing spells.

You mention the need to maintain Way of Perfection as much as possible, and yet it isn't even in your build?

My fault, heres a few things cleared up:
Tanking: It is not a TRUE tank, you cant take it and run into a mob and get all the aggro while everyone else nukes the crap out of the bad guys. This is a PHYSICAL tank, it has more or less total defense(if you count the healing to cover crit defenses) against melee/ranger damage. If you go against a caster you can still kill it, but the defense will be much much lower.
(By the way, I am looking for a good way to make a true assassin "tank" with more armor and elemental defense, but it isn't easy...)
Shiro Soloing: Made a mistake on the build here, if you want to solo him you have to get rid of Dark Escape for Way of Perfection, and get rid of Death Blossom for Wild Blow. You could also drop the first two attacks for Golden Pheonix Strike and keep wild blow, but you won't be as effective on the way through the mission.
The Video: Monk is NOT necessary. The only reason I had dunk with me was because there were no monks there, and no one else had a good hero(don't ask me why, I have no idea). But I took him, flagged him, and he healed me on occasion. You can still tank Shiro without a monk and easily survive if you maintain WoP and Shadow Refuge when you need it.
More of the Video: The point of that video was more or less... showing off. The point of the build in that sense is to TANK Shiro while the rest of the team goes and gets the bonus. No one every said you NEED to solo him, although it is very fun to do so while your team watches in awe.
Hope this cleared a bit up, I honestly prefer my Assassin's Promise/Dark Prison BOA spiker for PvE though. It's just much more fun.

That Chkkr build you posted is interesting; I independently came up with one of the variations listed there (the MoR/Conjure Flame version).
Very cool stuff.
Very cool stuff.
Spartan Link
how do you solo shiro in cantha?
Samurai-JM
In cantha he IS soloable now, just use Golden Pheonix Strike, Critical Strike, Moebius Strike, Death Blossom. The DPS is so high you can get through meditation with only about 150 damage. Just keep Way of Perfection and Shadow Refuge up as much as possible, and Mhenlo is always there so he keeps you healed too.
Spartan Link
this build is good i killed shiro easy in night fall still working to kill him in cantha curse that medation !^@#%
Samurai-JM
Use golden pheonix, critical, moebius, death blossom. Gets through Meditation in about 15 seconds.
