Hey guys,

Im new to the game, and I've been seeing alot of the term pre-searing. what does this mean?

also, how much would a set of non-15k Kurzick armor set me back? that armor is sweet, and I want to start saving lol

Thanks anyway

Pre-searing is the low level tutorial area for the Prophecies campaign.

Pre is a starter area for tyria character. An early day of Ascalon where everything is nice and pretty before the dark time, before the empire.

As for the armor, wiki have a section for all the armors, cost for making, materials etc

There is such a wealth of information there!

In the armour section it has images of all the armour sets available across all campaigns - and each one has detailed info on the gold cost, materials needed and the NPC and town from which it is available.

So check out the pictures - decide which one you like the most - start collecting the materials and saving the gold

Well now that you know what pre-searing is, you should also be sure to note that once your character leaves there you can never go back with it. Just thought I'd add that.

Pre-searing has also become its own world with people that stay there on a permanent basis to go for the LDOA title, or they just like it. It has its own social order (especially Ascalon District 1) with people who have spots reserved on the steps, special dancing troupes and other bits of strangeness.

yeah, that's a great district to go stand in the wrong place and watch them fuss over their "private spot".

as much as I don't want to interrupt their fun, it really sets a horrible example for he new players just joining.

Here's a leveling tip for pre-sear I thought I would throw in.

Take the Charr at the Gate quest and run through it to get the experience for the charr kills (even low-levels can do this because the NPCs in the quest help you). Then make sure you DON'T talk to Rurik to get the reward. Map back to Ascalon City and abandon the quest. Then you can redo it over and over and level up quickly.

When you're strong enough to fight him, there is also a level 5 raging bull right over the hill near the gate that can give you some more XP for going just a little bit out of your way.

There is also a level 5 River Drake in the water next to Ascalon.

Bull--> River Drake --> rezone, repeat. It is a way to keep getting XP until you reach lvl 11 without going into the Northlands and fighting the Charr there. There is also a level 5 boss in the Catacombs, but he is a long way into the catacombs and it takes a while to get to him.

There's also a lvl 4 skale in the cave by ashford (almost directly under the rabbit)

crazy waste of time considering how far apart those are.

*char at the gate quest* gives you 4 level 5 (sometimes 3x level 5 plus 1x level4) char then hit the bull right on the way back.

abandon quest and repeat.

5 level 5 exp most of the time and it takes less time than running to the drake for only 2/5 the exp

Also...you can't go to Pre-Searing Ascalon if you created a character in Cantha or Elona. It's only for brand new Prophecies characters.

I did it so much that I timed it, and it took about 3 minutes a run.

True, it was very time consuming, but if you made the mistake of accepting the quest reward from Rurik instead of abandoning it(which you can easily do by mistake) it is a way to get experience without doing the quests or taking on the charr over the wall when you are not ready.

There is also a level 5 oakheart near the hunters you get the ale from, and if you can find a partner, you can get into the Northlands and take on at least a dozen oakhearts that are level 5 that are away from the charr.
