Done sell your junk runes/inscriptions for 25g, ID it first!

I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this so please move it if required.
I don't know if everyone knows this since I just discovered this myself. I didn’t see it on the wiki either.
Don't sell your junk runes/inscriptions for 25 gold at the merchant. If you ID the rune/inscriptions it will show the actual sell value and you can sell it for that value instead of 25g.
For example
Dervish Rune of Major Wind Prayers
Sell value at Rune Trader: 10g
Sell value at Merchant: 25g
Sell value at Merchant AFTER using the ID kit on it: 72g
This is a good way to make a little extra cash if you need some.

I pick up and ID everything in areas Kourna and above. Most white items are worth 40g plus. On the island I don’t even id them just sell them. Now one thing I have noticed if you are lucky and get the upgrade off the item and the item is not destoryed the price of the item dose not go down, so you can double dip, BUT figure in cost of Salvage and cost of two IDs and risk why do it.
But back to your point yes best way to sell worthless upgrades is to ID them.

I'm really glad you posted this! I've been selling all the inscriptions and weapon upgrades that I didn't want for 25 gold. After checking out the ID kit on the inscriptions, I tested it on a sword hilt as well.
The sword hilt is worth 42 gold after identified, but only 25 before id. This kinda burns me, as I just unloaded about 3 mules of runes & components this morning!
Also, I've been checking the price of selling the salvage items vs the price of the crafting material. So far, its better to sell the salvage items if you don't want the stuff they break down into, because the salvage items sell for a much higer price.
Thanks again for this!

i've been doing that for ages xD
i was like "...if i managed to get both crappy rune and insignia..i'd only make like 50g...but this whole item thing is worth like..150g...*sells the whole thing to merchant*"
it's a bonus if you get a good rune out AND the thing doesn't get destroyed. the garment or whatever will retain it's original value, even without the rune (ie, if it was 150g before the rune was taken out, it will still be 150g even without a rune) so it's a double profit :3 so don't salvage whatever is left either! unless you really need the materials..o.O

this works with any item... evne white items with nothing on them.
I had a white long sword, non-max, req 12... sell value: around 30g
then I ID'd it
sell value went up to around 70g
so yeah, if you are desperate ID EVERYTHING!

Well, don't ID everything. A 1-3 dmg axe will go up maybe one gold when u ID it, if that, and the ID costs 4 gold (with a normal ID kit, 5 with a Sup. ID) so you'd actually be losing money. But anything that's anywhere near max will be highly worth ID'ing before selling.

U missed the part “everything in areas Kourna “you will get a good return on your id. You don’t have to be “desperate ID EVERYTHING!" just why not its laying on the ground pick it up its worth an average of about 60 gold in Kourna and above if you ID it. This way you don’t have to set aside time to farm to earn gold you can earn gold doing normal game actions. Time is gold and gold is time!

unless you get the great "Improved Sale Value"
I actually got those a lot in the low level areas. Probably to help little folk in getting some cash. Unidentified stuff drop like crazy down there o.O and salvagable stuff.

Another wise suggestion is to know what the item would salvage out into. If you're for instance saving up for armor, goto GuildWiki and search for the drop you got, I believe most everything is in the Wiki database now where it will tell you the standard and rare salvage materials you can get from the item. This way you can salvage for the materials you need while merching off the rest of your junk.
Also, when it comes to runes and insignias, to avoid destroying the drop the rune or insignia is in, look at the Purchase price from a Rune Trader. If it's 100, the Rune or Insignia will likely sell to the Trader for 10-25 gold. If the item the rune is in is 380 gold, sell the item whole and avoid risking the destruction of the item and losing roughly 355 gold because of bad luck.
Also, Highly Salvageable items sometimes salvage out and the material amount returned from the salvage has a greater value than the original item. I believe on a few occasions I've gotten between 90 and 125 bone or wood from Highly Salvageable items that sold for 270 - 375 gold vs the 100ish gold the item was initially worth.
Bottom line, pick up everything you can if you're pressed for money. It's amazing how much gold you can get from just doing that.

What I love is when you get a gold rune...you salvage off the rune and keep the item the rune was salvaged from, this alone can be worth anything up to 400-500g!
When it comes to runes, I don't always salvage. If you get, say, a Rune of Major Domination Magic on a purple Am Fah Cape. If you salvaged you'd get 25g for the rune with the risk of destroying the cape. If you were to sell the rune ON the cape to the merchant you can often get more for it. It's all a big gambling game really.
Has anyone noticed that Canthan "Highly Salvageable" items are prerry good...yet Elonian weapons with a "Measure for Measure" inscription rarely salvage into much at all? Maybe it's just my bad luck but Highly Salvageable Canthan and Tyrian items seem to salvage for a lot more.
