Need help in making a good Faction/Prophecy build for PvE
hiei52
What's a good Faction/Prophecy build for PvE nowadays? I'm thinking of mainly doing missions or join a party for FoW. I've read through some of the builds, but all of them have Nightfall skills, which I don't own (though I must admit, these Nightfall skills are pretty good, makes me want to get Nightfall). Basically just some ideas of a build would be nice, thanks. (By ideas, I meant more recent ones, cause I was looking at the old pre-Nightfall builds and most of them are outdated)

Is this Kenneth?
Anyways, there are not much uber pve build with those two expansions ( most of factions skills are just renames). I suggest you get NF. But out of those two, I think Necro MM is still the best to walk though pve untouched. Fow on the other hand, Necro SS, spoil vector and order of the vampire are still going strong.
Since this is a ele forum, I dont think there are good "recent" pve build except the old fav like Echo + MS, gly sac + MS. You can try heal party + rebirth party support in FOW, but good luck finding a group in there with ele tho.
p.s. get NF, best expension so far and the expension is made for ele =)

i use several pve builds and all of them seem to work quite well so here is a list
*edit: oops these have nf skills....... but the bottom one only has 1 nf skill that you can boot.. sry*
first is my version of searing flames, i use this one a lot because its easy and painful
[skill]Searing Flames[/skill][skill]Mark of Rodgort[/skill][skill]Glowing Gaze[/skill][skill]Meteor Shower[/skill][skill]Glyph of Sacrifice[/skill][skill]Fire Attunement[/skill][skill]Aura of Restoration[/skill][skill]Resurrection Chant[/skill]
this build is simple just use searing flames and gaze alternatingly and glyph meteor and large groups, also if anyone dies you can glyph res chant them for a full res, just make sure to keep your enchants up or you might run out of energy with constant spamming
i also use an easier build some times though its damage output is not nearly that of my sf version it is almost impossible to screw up and you are hard to kill with it.
[skill]Fireball[/skill][skill]Flare[/skill][skill]Meteor Shower[/skill][skill]Glyph of Sacrifice[/skill][skill]Elemental Attunement[/skill][skill]Fire Attunement[/skill][skill]Aura of Restoration[/skill][skill]Resurrection Chant[/skill]
this one you can spam as much as you want as long ass you have the enchants up and you will gain a ton of life by spamming flare, but the damage output is not as much.
really both builds have perfect synergy and that how i like my builds, so yea there ya go.

The only time I ever run SF without glyph of lesser energy is when I have a BiP on my back. If I can drop it, I'll drop it for convert hexes, heal party, extinguish, or some other nifty utility skill. Not aura of restoration.
For FoW, people generally gather aggro into neat little balls and then drop AoE on it. Before nightfall, fire builds had a lot of trouble finding an elites worth bringing. For FoW, glyph of renewal is probably the best option out there, followed by elemental attunement.
[skill]fireball[/skill][skill]rodgort's invocation[/skill][skill]meteor shower[/skill][skill]immolate[/skill][skill]glyph of lesser energy[/skill][skill]glyph of renewal[/skill][skill]fire attunement[/skill][skill]resurrection signet[/skill]
For general PvE, spamming MS is stupid. As useful as a support E/mo can be, don't delude yourself into thinking most PuGs want one. Replace glyph of lesser energy and glyph of renewal, and MS with aura of restoration, fire attunement, and smoldering embers/searing heat/meteor depending on your mood.
Earth builds are effective as well, but I'm sure you're looking for a cookie cutter fire guy, and I'm far to lazy to do any more typing.

Most PUGs won't notice the difference between a fire/support E/Mo, and any other ele. Also, I'm not convinced that balling stuff up into neat little groups is worthwhile in FoW, I honestly don't approch it much differently than other pve areas.
Coloneh
try earth builds. Unsteady Ground is factions, and you can echo it, and use wards, and stuff.

A support E/mo is money in PvE when you know you have one and plan for it, i.e. ditch one of your monks for another damage dealer. Otherwise it's kind of meh, since nothing in PvE does enough damage to require 3 healers. (Not counting DoA, no point to to support E/mo there).
As for FoW, I personally think an ele just isn't that great there unless you ball things up, such as for one of those 5 man farming groups that random drops of shards encourage. I guess if I had to choose a build for non-PuG FoW, I'd go with
[skill]lightning hammer[/skill][skill]lightning orb[/skill][skill]blinding flash[/skill][skill]gale[/skill][skill]aura of restoration[/skill][skill]air attunement[/skill][skill]elemental attunement[/skill][skill]resurrection chant[/skill]
Gale is a utility slot that doesn't really shine as much as it used to. You could toss it for enervating charge, epidemic, chain lightning, heal party, glyph of sacrifice, or anything really. I don't reccomend running an uncovered attunement or ether prodigy in FoW just because of all the mesmer things running around. Getting several shatter enchants on your ether prodigy in a row hurts like bejeezus. Ether prism might be an option though.....

Thanks for the replies, I'll be trying these skills out to see which one I like best. Might reply later with my findings.
xxlil_Devilxx: You can buy me a copy so I can play Nightfall.

Ask Kenny for NF...he is getting one soon too.
Believe me Nightfall is way better then the orginal and factions
Anet give us Eles good skills in NF for the lack of skills in factions

Dr Strangelove: I am interested in what an earth build would look like, and I really like the Air Magic build you have, it's what I'm currently using right now.

Earth is semi-crappy in PvE right now. You could run something like
[skill]unsteady ground[/skill][skill]eruption[/skill][skill]ebon hawk[/skill][skill]stoning[/skill][skill]glowstone[/skill][skill]ward against melee[/skill][skill]earth attunement[/skill][skill]resurrection chant[/skill]
Basically, the money skills in earth are eruption and the wards, almost everything else is just filling slots.
If you can fit obsidian flame in there, that's a fine choice, although it's more fun to play around with ebon hawk ---> stoning.
Also fun is earthquaking things in the middle of savannah heat .

What about this?
[skill]Aura of Restoration[/skill][skill]Elemental Attunement[/skill][skill]Fire Attunement[/skill][skill]Mark of Rodgort[/skill][skill]Liquid Flame[/skill][skill]Rodgort's Invocation[/skill][skill]Meteor Shower[/skill][skill]Resurrect[/skill]
I can't remember if [skill]Liquid Flame[/skill] is NightFall or not, if so you could substitute [skill]Fireball[/skill]

I can't remember if [skill]Liquid Flame[/skill] is NightFall or not, if so you could substitute [skill]Fireball[/skill] You have three direct damage skills.
Two of them have 15 second recharges. The last has a sixty second recharge.
Now, ignoring cast times etc. (which just make the case worse for this build), you have a character that will make 9 offensive casts a minute. If I had a character in a build that would be doing that little, it would need to have some pretty big WALL OF DOOM spell that annihilated everything within thirty kilometres. This just has some bad AoEs.

Um, Searing Flames, Glowing Gaze, Liquid Flame, Fire Attune, Glyph Sac, Res Chant, Met Shower, Extinguish or something?
I don't think you can make a particularly effective dual attune nuker in fire because there's nothing that draws such power that is worth doing over and over. In Air you can make a decent build by working Lightning Hammer but there's just no equivalent for fire.

Come now, I am sure everyone here can reach back and try and remember what the hell they ran before Nightfall came out last fall. Obviously it isn't going to please the I love SF community, but at least if you are gonna trash a presented skill set, present him with some options he can actually use. He already stated he can't use NF skills.
No where he stated it has to be fire.
