Thinking about making a comeback...

So... I quit Guild Wars a little less than a year ago.

I won't disclose who I was or where I've been... not that I was famous or anything. But the fact of the matter is that I abandoned the game completely, and now I'm back and at a loss.

I'm not going to buy all three chapters, no way jose. $150 isn't peanuts.

So shed some light on me...

What's the deal with Tombs (er, Heroes Ascent)? Looking over the state of the game and such, it's all flying right over my head. It's needless to say that with Nightfall I'll get Hero Battles, and with Factions I'll get Alliance Battles... but what the official site doesn't say is whether or not these things are still as full of players as it used to be.

Bottom line: If I get factions are Alliance Battles still as good as they used to be? Or are Nightfall-specific skills and Hero Battles really worth it? What about the state of GVG? Still competitive? Or a bunch of washed up veterans vulchering over mindless noobs with pipe dreams for gold-lined capes?

Prophecies is only $30 and Factions is $40; Nightfall still $50

Heroe's Ascent is now 6v6. Anet won't change it back no matter how much the players want them too. As a result of the cruddy 6v6 there's a fair amount less people there, but it is not empty. There are still a fair amount of people that do it.

Hero Battles are definitely not worth it. They're really stupid, don't even bother unless you want the title.

I don't know anything about the other forms of PvP. However, if you really want to be competitive in PvP you're going to need all three chapter's skills. If you're just in it for PvP, then the PvP only editions from the GW Online Store are much cheaper and have all skills already unlocked.

Theres a sticky at the top of the forum about which campaign to choose.

I dont play halls often, its much harder now, with all the well co-ordinated TS/Vent gamers. Never tried the 8 v 8, but its 6 v 6 atm. Or 60 vs 6 if you have ritualists in your party.....
