Assassins... Love or Hate?
llsektorll
When factions came out I hated Assassins they were weak puny and attacks did little and they were very bad tanks. So I beat factions with it quickly unlocked all the skills for it in PvE and deleted him.
Now im back from square one im recreating him again. They got buff after buff till they are finally worth playing... and always did want to try the arcane echo shadow shroud chest runners... ^_^
should i spend my time making him up or you guys think assassins still suck?

Assassins don't suck, and they never really did, the problem is finding a build that works well with them and there are a few good builds out there. A lot of them are listed on guildwiki. Some players still think sins suck, but it has more to do with who's playing them. Getting in PuGs might be a little difficult but i've noticed it's easier than i was before when you had so many sins running around in factions.

I personally did something similar to what you did, and I remade my character (assassin) And i think it was totally worth it. I love playing the assassin especially since they arent frowned upon back like back when factions was released. Although I recommend after leaving the island and doing a few things in Cantha leaving and going to Tyria or Elona. Cantha isnt set up to handle assassins IMO.
Toutatis
I love assassins, if they've worked out that they're not tanks and therefore shouldn't even attempt to be a tank. If you can find an assassin who waits for the tanks to grab the aggro, shadowsteps in, unleashes an attack chain, and then shadowsteps out again within 10 seconds or so; you've got an extremely powerful ally who you can count on to help take down any boss in record time.

I've always loved assassins and thought they were a great class. Deep-wound in 3 seconds? Yes please.
However, I did not like this. Just wasn't fair for assassins.

It was never the assassins who had problems, it's was factions, and their exploding puck men who do more damage when they die. How Ironic that the game which they were introduced in also happens to be the worst one tfor them play them in. Nightfall and prof are much more assassin friendly. I offen play Shadow walk - Jagged strike - wild strike - Death blossom - Moebius strike - death blossom - etc - dash. This works well, it's got an entrance, escape, and AoE damage. You may also wish to consider Flashing blades, at 16 DM it can give a constant 75% Block chance while attacking, and won't take points from you offence.

Factions wasn't Tank friendly.
I remember the first time I took a warrior against the afflicted. By the end of the mis I was in the back with 60 DP and a long bow.
Not having your enemies give 100+ damage every time they die makes tanking so much easier.
Now I personally love having a sin as a back up melee.

Yea Soul Explosion was another thing that made people not like assassins.
But for me, Assassins are one of my favourite classes along side Monk and Warrior. So great to play IMO.

I only started playing Assassin a couple of weeks ago and i must say i'm really enjoying it. For general PvE i've been using a A/D combo with Vital Boon and Conviction to raise my health and armour quite significantly so i can actually hang around in a fight and not have to dash at the first sign of trouble. It also means i can use the Moebius Strike/dual attack combo constantly until what i'm hitting is dead instaed of half killing it then having to back out to heal. Helps enormously with the Afflicted explosions too and there's a couple of attacks in NF which are very useful with enchantments, like Golden Lotus Strike for energy management so you can just keep going, and going, and going......
Having lots of fun.
**POTENTIAL SPOILER**
Was also kinda fun watching Shiro nuke himself with Spoil Victor and Empathy when he was surrounded by 6 Celestial Horrors and me
He went from 50% health to zero so fast i nearly missed it!

My assassin was the first character I made in GW, I had to pretty much hench all of the missions in Factions back then because no one would have me. I recently decided to try to finish NF on him as well and man I was surprised at how well he performed.
He was rewarded with Ancient Armour for that
People didn't seem as reluctant to take me into parties, perhaps as a specimen of an exotic species, and Aura of Displacement helped a ton. I love this skill.
This was the fifth time I finished NF and the first I ever used Zenmai. With an identical skill set to mine [ Had to toggle off AoD manually though], Torment creatures died in seconds between the two of us.

I made an assassin when factions came out but I deleted him, remade him again and deleted again, In the past month I remade him again (3rd time) and this time I always play him also capped all tyrian and nf skills + elites, Yet ppl still avoid me for most missions/areas especially FoW (my favorite place). My favorite elite skill to date is Flashing Blades. I think assassin's are good and as many ppl think, their armor doesn't suck that's a big lie to me imo, With Nightstalker's armor (thats with the +15 armor while attacking bonus) plus the 70 normal armor that makes 85 armor on each part = more armor against elemental damage than a tank. I think you should remake your assassin, I see nothing bad in them.

Assassin's have always been great damage dealers only reason for the assassin hate was because a bunch of kids who like Naruto (must kill the person who made this) thinking they can tank.
Laenavesse
what they all said. it was more or less the player themselves that were ruining the sin line rather than the sin itself.
I loooove my assassin <3 and they are ANNOYING in pvp >_> and that's a good thing for them, bad thing for casters and soft armor folk. yeah the soul explosion was not a good thing.

I'm considered as the Godfather of sins. Yes, I love them.
Priest Of Sin
I'm guilty of being a sin-tank... when Factions first came out, I capped Flashing Blades and was a tank-o-matic, at least untill Arborstone. Thank God I've gotten a little smarter since then. Really, the assassin is very VERY useful to have for taking out a priority target quickly and easily, as they can do it faster than any other class.
But then again, there's the A/Rt splinter weapon+Death Blossom+Mobieus Strike Melee nuker. So I guess you COULD go the AoE route, it's just not as effective as an ele.
Btw, Shadow Walk= PvE GOD!

These annoying rangers with throw dirt seem like a bigger problem to me, they utterly suck when theres more then 2.

I absolutely love assassins in AB. 3 out of 4 I encounter are running the same old build. Blind them, interrupt them, strip their enchantments... so easy to kill.
1 out of 4 I encounter are using a highly original build. Poof, slash, whack...ranger down

The shield and the AL of the warrior in comparison to the assassin's AL + nightstalker insignia. ¬_¬

Oi. Every decent warrior runs hammer anyway now so...

Sins my fav class
Of course theres always A/me to reduce the Soul explosions with mantra of frost.
Anyways, out of Factions, sins will rarely have a hard time surviving...except for that Drought mission. You can kill things without fear of retribution, therefore Sin is good for everything but afflicted battles -_-

I love the assassin becouse of it's playstyle and it's looks. Well, not really the hit & run part, but the surprise you give is cool enoegh at itself.
Kiba of hidden leaf
Keep the assassin. It's always useful for some farming. Yes, you can tank with assassin but I say its only useful for griffons or trolls.
And if you don't PvE ever, have fun in PvP ^^
