Noob question

I admit I am new to this game. I just bought all 3 of the games. How to I switch from one map to another? Do I have to wait until a certain point before I can do this?

Hey! Welcome to GW! yeah, you have to reach a certian point in one game to travel to the others.

With Prophecies, the original, you must reach Lion's Arch. There are 2 quests there that you can get to transport you to either Cantha or Elona. In factions, you need to reach kaineng center for the quests. In Nightfall, the quests will appear in Kamadan when you've reached a certian point in the story line.

It's quicker to reach the port cities in Nightfall and factions, but it's not that big of a deal, because you're jsut starting out and there's a TON of things to explore in all three campaigns.

This will only work as long as you added the second and third to the first.

So I had nightfall first and then got the other 2 installed. Am I not going to be able to go from map to map?

It depends, did you click on 'Create a new account' or did you
'Add Access Key to an existing Guild Wars account' ?

I added to an existing account.

In that case you'll be fine... Just play through the game and when you get to the outpost that lets you travel you will be notified on screen.

Then you will be able to travel between the continents once you do the quests given in that link.

And as already stated, the notifications for those particular quests will pop up on screen.

And you can only create as assassin or ritualist as a factions character. A Dervish or Paragon can only be created as a Nightfall character.

But you can take a Sin or a Rit to other maps by getting far enough into they game. The Sin,Rit,Derv, and Para are not confined to what game they come in, they just can't be made in any other chapter but Factions.
