Hello
I posted the idea for this in another thread but I don’t want to hijack it. I’ve been playing Guild Wars for over a year now. My favorite character is my PvE monk. During that time I began to get really into PvP and have been doing that for the bulk of my playing time. I’m UAX with Balth Faction and been that way for quite a while.
Most of this unlocking I did with my PvE monk. She has gained no benefit from all this time spent in PvP except a few titles and increased faction caps.
I think people who PvP ONLY have an unfair advantage over those who like to do both. When someone wants a skill for a PvP character, they unlock it with faction and there it is ready to use. For them, Balthazar Faction has a tangible benefit that rewards them for good play and time spent winning in PvP. That’s if they don’t pay 30-40 dollars for UAS in the first place and be done with it.
But when a PvEer who likes to PvP wants or needs new skills, they have to leave the battle isles, grind-farm plat and buy it. It’s a very expensive and time consuming process for people who play both sides of the game.
What I was thinking was a way to make Balth faction worth something to people who do both. We already have a way for people who PvP to get skills cheap in PvE. Why can’t PvEers have a way to buy our skills on the battle islands?
My suggestion is to put a new trader into the Great Temple of Balthazar. This trader would allow anyone to buy any non-elite skill for a PvE character they wanted to using Balth Faction and a skill point. The amount cost per skill is debatable, but somewhere between 2-3k is where I’m thinking. It needs to be more expensive than the current Balth rewards trader because it unlocks for the PvE character and the account too.
Another option would be to make any unlocks 1k Faction but you can only unlock skills you have previously unlocked with the rewards trader or another character. This is similar to the skill trainer in Guild Halls now, but he charges money.
This trader would work like the skill traders and merchants in GWFactions and be selective in who it conducts business with. You know; you have to be a friend of Luxon to use Luxon services; this skill trader would not work for PvE characters that have not reached level 20, done the +attribute point quests for their campaign or beaten the game (possibly refusing to display skills for other chapters until you have beaten them as well). One or all of these requirements need to be met to use it. Other requirements could also be set in place.
It does not remove the challenge of gaining skills for PvE characters because you are using in-game rewards to get them. Because you still pay skill points for that particular character, you’re not going to be UAX in 3 days either, so this is just a different way to buy skills.
If we choose to grind for skills instead of paying RL money to have them handed to us, please let us choose how.
Thank you for reading this.

PvP Rewards for PvE Characters: idea for a new trader

There is no inherent unfairness. You are more than welcome to roll a PvP character to take advantage of all of the skills you have unlocked, which is exactly what PvP players do.
