I am kinda new to Guild Wars, and have been playing a Ranger. Turns out they aren't what I thought they would be, so I am lvling an assassin right now. I play General PVE/PVP
With so many attacks and skills I was trying to come up with a combo that would allow me to chain over and over untill target is dead, while having minimal cooldowns.
Here is what I came up with:
Critical Strikes 11+3+1
Dagger Mastery 11+3
Shadow Arts 8
[skill]Critical Defenses[/skill][skill]Golden Fox Strike[/skill][skill]Wild Strike[/skill][skill]Critical Strike[/skill][skill]Moebius Strike[/skill][skill]Shadow Refuge[/skill][skill]Death's Retreat[/skill][skill]Disrupting Stab[/skill]
Equipment Would be filled with Superior Vigor, Radient Insignias, Runes of Attunment.
Comments and suggestions would be helpful.

On a PvE stand point...
Critical Defenses are hard to manage, your attack may be blocked, or you may miss it due to blind, or it may just be desinchanted. In other words, doesn't trust your life on it.
If you are dead set of using Critical Defenses, I'd say to try to raise your natural critical with Critical Eye, Syphon Strengh or things like that, but it's a skill which demand heavy investment and few benefits.
The superior runes will make your health dangerously low too.

Ya, never use 2 superiors. only use one if you absolutely need to reach a breakpoint. other than that its actually not that bad, but i would suggest a simpler class such as a warrior or elementalist if you are new.

Actually with the crit defense buff now, you can keep it up pretty long(alot of times long enough for the recharge) and most things in pve don't block at all. Also, you won't be needing much interuption as you would in pvp so why not death blossom for some AoE and high dmg at a cheap cost while you alternate with crit stike to keep up defense. Also if you have nf, you can go /Mo and use restful breeze instead of refuge. Deaths Retreat out and Resful breeze, ez on the mana and +10 regen thats spammable. Hoped these tips helped you. )^,_,^(

There is blind and cripple too. Many attacks can't be blocked too.
Anyway, even if you manage to let Critical Defenses up all the time, you only defended yourself against melee attacks. If you are dead set on being a assassin tank, use [wiki]Flashing Blades[/wiki] instead.

Might I suggest going A/W with BoA+Flashing Blades? It may help you survive a little longer during extended melee encounters.

You could try dark escape + feigned neutrality instead of shadow refuge and death's retreat. That way you don't shift aggro as much as you would w/ death's retreat and you give the monk extra time to heal you.
