Not seeing drunk or death effect
Zelyoniy
I've been playing for about 1.5 years now, and I've been around for awhile. The first time I've seen the drunk effect was during the 2005 Wintersday event with the spiked nogs Well, it worked just fine, but after the holiday I stopped drinking nog. Later, when Factions came out, I got my monk and tried to get him the drunkard title. It worked fine, the blurriness and all. One day, I got about 40 bottles for my drunkard of a monk when poof, no blurriness. I talked to my friends, and they said it worked fine. Also, awhile back Anet introduced the death effect, whenever you die, your screen goes gray. I'VE NEVER SEEN THIS. Being both screen effects, the drunk and death effects, I think their must be something wrong either with my graphic card OR some settings I might've bumped either in my comp itself or ingame. I can't see why it would be my graphic card, considering the drunkard effect worked before. If anyone has had this experience and knows how to fix it, or at least an idea, it would be greatly appreciated. My monk would owe you

In your options menu, is your Post-process effects on?

As a matter of fact, it isnt. BUT this reminds me, I checked this before, and I can't click the box to enable it. Its like it's dulled out. Any idea why? :|

What DirectX are you are you rendering?
I had this same problem, if you don't have DX9 it wont work (btw, it says in your f11 options menu what DX is rendered

Lol DirerectX 8... this would explain why it is not working, but doesn't explain why it used to work but not now. Did they raise the graphic req?
And what could I do to improve this?

Run the latest direct X. That would be 9.0c. If your graphics sucks, enjoy. Anything above an ATi 9200 can run post processes though with some slight slowdown. 9200 should be the equivallent of the nvidia 5500. and i believe they raised the reqs with either factions or Nightfall.

I am pretty sure that they took out the drunk blurry effect in an update. As for the grey death effect...i dont think ive even seen that b4. It cant be my directx, i have updated it frequently.

Yeah, if the game isn't allowing you to enable this setting, then:
-your video card doesn't support it
-a direct X version issue
-the game isn't auto detecting your graphics capability correctly
And, from what I am reading in this thread, it seems to be your direct X version.

They have altered it because it was working prior to the last update.
