hello all
i am a 33 years old married guy trying to play this game ...finding hard though with wife and kid... but i have my free times... so on to my first post.

i am playing asd a restoration/communing ritualist... skills i 98% use on missions and quests...
Vital Weapon-Resilient Weapon-Wielder's Boon-Mend Body and Soul-Displacement-Generous Was Tsungrai- next two are signet of capture and res signet...
i achieved first survivor basically easy and the road to indomitable finished yesterday
so far i have 37 elites... prophecies from desert ( i am at droknar's forge), primaryquests and missions in nightfall ( i am at yohlon haven there.. ) and all 3000 quests in kaineng city plus the elites from there... i am just before the visunah square mission... currently on 626000 xp points..
i usually play with heroes and hench but i did all missions with players and some runs in uw with a friend which gave me some good exp as well

what is the best road to continue? talus chute for keep capping elites and do the missions there? yohlon haven?
i am thinking of the visunah square mission to continue on cantha to cap sone ritualist elites and to go with kurzicks or luxons for xp..... but i have read so many things about forced death there and still no clean response from wiki

I would sugest leaving cantha for now as most people die on the Vizunah Square mision and the Naphui Quarter mission which is after. If you go to Tyria you can cap some elites but you dont get much xp for the quests. I would say go to nightfall and carry on with the storyline Most of the quests give you a reasonable ammount of xp and there are still some elites there.

I am going for Legendary Survivor on my Ranger. I am currently at 1,030,000XP.

My biggest piece of advice is know when you're overpowered. It's simple but it's saved my behind on numerous occaisions.

As for Vizunah...how well do you know Cantha? I know it like the back of my hand. I stopped my ranger at Unwaking Waters as I deemed that to be too much of a risk. In Elona I stopped at the Domain of Pain (I henched Ruins of Morah ) and in Tyria I have stopped at Abaddon's Mouth. I am going to hit the max title before I attempt any of these missions.

The problem you have is...if you stop at Vizunah or Nahpui, you will do yourself out of a LOT of potential experience and skill caps. Getting from Indomitable to Legendary takes a lot of XP...more than you needed for tier 2.

I like your choice of skills. Half of my ranger's bar is devoted to survival. Troll Unguent, Storm Chaser, Whirling Defense...and sometimes another depending on the situation. Tyria is the worst for XP collecting due to the fact that you get next to no XP from quests and missions.

Cantha has lots of quests and missions that, if you know what to expect, are very east to complete...not to mention three 10,000XP quests. one of these is Raze the Roost, the others are Befriending the Luxons/Kurzicks. Oh, btw, I went down the luxon side (yet still befriended both)...I deemed the Eternal Grove to be too dangerous...whereas Gyala Hatchery is easy if you go the "back way".

Oh yea...don't trust PuGs. Humans will let you down. You know what to expect with henchman. This is the only reason why Vizunah may get a little hairy. You may get a crap team from the other side. If you want help with Vizunah PM me ingame (IGN: Hitomi Kyoko) and I could maybe try to enter Vizunah from one quarter, while you try from another...and try to get in together...with full hench teams. This is, of course, if you want to risk the "forced death". I did that mission and never "died" at the end.

Good luck with the title.

lol i dont know cantha at all
my biggest experience with the game is prophecies.. i have finished it with a warrior.. i have over 1000 deaths with him.. .hahhahahahahha
problem is that i do know that cantha has a lot of xp... biggest problem with visunah is that i am afraid of doing the quest due to the forced death option...
yesterday i did the mission with my warrior.. having all heroes and hench.. .the local quarter was henchable too... and when mission ended.. i didnt die... i had olias too..
i had.. before 1032 deaths.. and after the cut scene.. 1033 deaths.

i know cantha has a lot of xp opportunities.. elona too..

choice of skills is made by game play.. lol if you try to look on others skills.. you get confused.. and trust me.. from a warrior type like me.. it was too difficult to adjust to the resto ritualist.. i had 6 attempts before... but i allways died before my first rank of survivor!!
but when i got used with the skills with hench and some starter heroes.. it goes well..

i trust players.. i like playing with pugs too.. all missions in desert i did with players.. and then again redo them for the skill caps.
but when i see... that they try to aggro everything.... i quit.. i ve done that one 2 times at elona reach.. and 2 times at land of heroes quests when i was with 3 warriors and they thought they could kill eveything at 5 minutes... lol

i will find you on game... lol

Nice to know I am not the only 30 something with a family playing the game. I suggest wait till they have a weekend for double experience on elite capping. They have had a couple a few months back, and I think it is an easy weekend event for them to do. I did make it through the V-square mission solo with hench and heroes Channeling build, but it has too many variables (mainly explosions) to risk a survivor title on it. Go to Night Fall and do the mission line and the quests there is a ton of experience to be had.

That would be most beneficial is a double weekend

Or you could farm in safe areas and use scrolls

Im 34 and using a rit as well. My plan was to rotate back and forth between all three campaigns leveling up my heros in the process ( olais is a godsend, just make sure he doesnt die with 10 minions up) Ive done the legendary survivor this way with a paragon and a ranger already..

My plan is to use up as much of the lower level missions as possible.. its a long grind but the exp is safe. and well it does work to a point.

I must agree Vizunah is daunting, yet the xp after that from quests is humongus (sp?). That is why I, when going for legendary with my mes (which I made btw ), I did it just about as soon as possible. If you die not much time lost.

However, you are already indomitable. I would suggest getting a guildie or trusted friend with you. If you start in the same party, make sure you only have henchies on the other side (usually international is a good bet). If you synch the start, only actually do the mission if your friend is the other team. If you get to the last cutscene, both skip immediately. It worked for me at least.

GL on getting legendary.

I don't think there's much need to fear Vizunah, especially since you have access to heroes. I have one Legendary survivor and am working on a second, both of whom completed Vizunah and milked Cantha for a ton of XP. However, neither one is a Rit so I'm not sure how much more risk you would be taking with that profession.

Your biggest concern at Vizunah should be the cut scene, paticularly the end-mission cut scene. For some reason, that cut scene can cause deaths (most people seem to agree it's due to minions turning hostile after the forced death in the scene, not the forced death itself). I found this out the hard way when somehow, the Legendary Survivor that I was working on at the time logged 1 death during the cut scene even though she had near a full health bar immediately before the scene began, and was unaffected by any conditions.

Easiest way around that is to just skip the cut scene. Immediately. The sure fire way to do this is to make sure that you don't have any real people on the opposite team. Then you are in sole contorl of the cut scenes.

Nahpui can be a bit troublesome, mostly because the Essences of Turtle which spawn can eliminate half your health though Grenth's Balance. If that happens at an inopportune time, it could spell trouble.

The lease risky approach to Nahpui is to just clear out all those stupid little birds throughout the mission while completely ignoring the celestial beings. After you clear the birds, then go back and kill the celestials in this order: Kaijun Don, Kuonghsang, Tahmu, Hai Jii (at least that's the order I'd do it in, because the kirin are push-overs and you can continue through the mission without back-tracking). Of course, this approach is a bit time consuming, and really really boring.

Or you can just take the mission head-on. I got masters with full heroes and hench using a an Elementalist who is working on Legendary (but I realize that things are different when you are playing damage-dealing profession).

Watch out for Boreas Seabed if you've never done that mission before. Zhu Hanuku can wipe your entire party in seconds if you don't know what to expect. Just interrupt him, and he's as gentle as a kitten.

lol anna...
i passed with ease vizunah square... you were right... a guildmate.... a party full of henchen on the foreign square... and skip all cinematics...
then nahpui... we lost master for 23 seconds...

AND THEN I DIED

i died... on the road to tanakai temple...
lol that was hard...
me and my guildie were going with menhlo for assist to togo... mhnelo was behind.. we saw a group of afflicted and attack...and SUDdenly mhenlo was behind us... with another group of afflicted...
lol i was with life.. displacement.. i hit generus was tsungrai... and for a few seconds i thought to transfer to senji.. but what the hell.. i survived the worst... so why quit? I WAS WRONG.. I DIED IN 805000 XP... in a most stupid way

my guildmate.. guild leader also.. was even angrier than me... i said to him no prob.. he was more sad than me..

anyways... i am dead.. indomitable.. but no legendary

the good thing is that i love my ritualist i wont let it go....after the death... i joined parties in fow or uw and funny thing is.. i earned over 100000 xp.. without dying.. LOL THAT SUCKS. i think that i deserve a second chance though...

my first character was a warrior... i learned the game basics...
the second was ritualist.. i achieved indomitable... with gameplay

but after my death... one think i know for sure... when you are in high xp.. over 700000 for example best way to legendary is offense.. no defense..

Well that just sucks. I'm sorry to hear that.

If you don't mind telling me, what build were you using for your Rit while pursuing Legendary? Did you change it up? Any particular tactics to keep yourself alive?

I'll be making a Rit sometime in the next few months and might just try to get Legendary with him. I'm guessing that staying alive with a Rit is a little more difficult that with the professions I've used.

Thank you.

Ouch, that's nasty!

Sorry to hear that.

I've been through cantha so many times I could do it with my eyes shut. My ranger stopped at Unwaking Waters so as I don't destroy her title. I'm at 1,060,000 XP now.

I wouldn't advise that!!
Half my ranger's bar is STILL defensive skills. A running skill, a blocking skill, a heal etc.. It has saved me on so many occaisions. Pure offense is dealing with death!

Good luck, if there is a next time.

build was allmost full restorations spells plus one communing
13 restoration 12 communing and rest on spawning

skills from left to right
since i didnt have ritualists elites till then

vital weapon-life-mend body and soul-resilient was xiko- soothing memories- tsenrous was tsungrai- wielders boon - res signet

as i stated on my previous posts.. that was not a selfish attempt to achieve legendary i wanted to play the game and not using other ways of escaping death.. i did it only 4-5 times
thing is to play the game cool with friends mostly guildies that were willling to help me and on the other hand LEARN how to be an effective healer

good thing on that build is that i never run out of energy since.. all skills are not costly enough and i had 60 energy
alems remedy and halcyon exotic armour

i thing as i stated before that the most difficult areas for ritualists are probably some 4000 xp quests in island that i did it after with my heroes...

i think with those resto skills you wont have a problem... i didnt had anyways...i heal party and my self quite easily

celestial beaver... i honeslty believe that offense sometimes helps more than defense.. if i had spirits with me.. that wouldn't have happened.. but it was something like an ambush... a thousand times.. at the same place... mhenlo wouldnt aggro those afflicted all alone..and this death would never had happened.
also when you are with an experienced.. legendary survivor elementalist.. guild leader.. and a good friend of yours.. you think that...hey.. i dont die.. easily. that i why i was pretty convinced that i shouldnt push the escape button that time... but hey.. that a game.. i love it..

funny thing is.. that.. now .. i have allmost 1000000xp.. and 3 deaths.. all those deaths at the same time when i lost my legendary road to tanakai..that damn quest hehehheheh...

build i use now..

glyph of lesser energy -tranquil was tanasen-recuperation- life- spirit light- mend body and soul- generous was tsungrai - flesh of my flesh
and i am the primary healer of my party all restoration and spawing...
it works pretty well but MOST IMPORTANT thing is that know it very well

Hi, also a 30 something who works insane hours, why do I feel like I'm standing up at the front of the group at AA?

I got my first char to S3 a couple of weeks ago and will make a few suggestions.

Leave vizunah, not because it's hard but because if you're going there to cap you might find yourself having to do the mission several times because it's a 2 group mission, i.e. you cap and leave you screw the other team (I completed that mission 9 times in total due to this).

Hit Elona, grap some 50% 10 min xp scrolls they are cheap enough and you can use collector items to get them, find a large explorable area and grab the shrine blessing, hit a scroll and clear the area. Also helps if you find areas that you need to cap in at the same time. The XP racks up very very quickly.

For the last 75k I got bored with that and went along to Sorrows Furnace and did the Kilroy and Orozar quests a handful of times for the large xp rewards.

Not sure if you're US or Euro but if you see me online give me a shout in game and I'll happily help with capping or missions, ign on the left.
