Ok, i have seen this a couple of times but today iv had it.
Some admins are closing too many threads for almost no reason at all. Two pertinent posts were closed at the Sardelac Sanitarium, one with the most dull excuse and others were just closed. The same happened at The Riverside Inn, that State of the Game Your Views was closed with no apparent reason and people were having a very productive conversation and were been very expressive.
I dont want to mention any names and etc but... wtf man?

Gregslot, if you have concerns or questions such as these please send myself or Chief a PM and we're happy to discuss them with you. I agree on the State of the Game Your Views and that thread has been reopened. As for any in Sardelac your post was vague but if you have specific concerns on the individuals threads please feel free to contact us and we can explain or make a correction.

And just for clarification, there are only 3 admins. Myself as the Site Admin, Chief as our Forum Admin and Dralspire as our Auction admin. The other GWG staff are moderators or super-moderators.

I didnt wich thread i was talking about there because that would reveal who closed the thread. But since you put it that way i will say it to you.
The two threads i was talking about at Sardelac were One idea for GW2 and Anyone ever compare shared burden with deep freeze.
The first one i posted it, it was said that it has been closed because there is a thread like this one in Riverside, but since they are different foruns and the idea of the post is completly different then the existing one i see no excuse of closing it. One possible excuse of closing it would be because i was influenced by rumors, but the idea is still useful if we all consider the fact that they will really make a GW2.
The second post although it could not belong to the ideas section it shouldnt be closed, at least moved to the PvP section.

I know im beein a pain in the ass but come on, if we start closing threads like that there will be no game discussion or ideas (the ideas are the most important, dont you agree?)

*i might have posted twice, its lagging and i my answer didnt showed up =/

Yes I, too have come across a few threads which seem to have been closed simply because a moderator did not share a particular view. Threads aimed at debating a topic are important to bring about change and community action within a game. I also understand that such threads can become flame wars very quickly, but the ones which I am referring to did not seem to have gotten to that point. There have been a few (about 4) but I don't remember their topics or titles. I do not wish to upset any of the moderators or admins, I'm merely providing a little feedback. I may have only been on this forum for a short amount of time, but I am no stranger to forums and their functionality. I posted in the Elderscrolls forums for a long time and moderated a Jedi Knight 2: Outcast forum for a few years.

I've seen excessive moderation where it was uncalled for, even abusive moderation. Even posts where User1 complains of something, User2 posts information explaining it and why User2's information is correct. User1 then fabricates false information and flames User2. User2 makes examples and clarifies, even getting support from other users that the information is indeed accurate. A moderator now comes in and deletes all of the posts that confirm that User2 is correct, along with User2's posts. User1 and all his flame posts remain and then the entire thread is locked for getting "off-topic" yet the items of discussion were related.

People should ignore trolls/flamers, by trying to correct them or reason with them you only join in on their little game.

Report them then ignore them.

Judging from a lot of reported posts I've seen, most of the time user 2 sees this situation (which doesn't exist) when he gets his feelings hurt by another user.

Barring that, I usually would expect that if you see a legitimate case of this you'd provide us much more than such a vague reference. We can't really do anything about specific cases if we get these types of nebulous "feedback"

Here's the link where it happened. I won't disclose the names unless you would like them via PM.

I am however going to complain about having posts deleted in the thread talking about
When GW2 eventually comes out. The thread is about discussing what you would like to see in GW2. I posted about one such item being much higher levels and it was since deleted. No PM saying why, nothing. I don't care for that sort of action one bit. Especially when it is supposed to be an open discussion. I administrate several websites and forums. If something of similar nature occurred on those that I administrate, I would revoke that moderator's status immediately because to me that is an abuse of their moderation privileges. If an administrator would like to discuss this, I am more than willing to. Am I bothered by this? Obviously yes I am because I am making this post here. Things of a similar nature have occurred long throughout my time here and now I'm fed up with it. I left the site once because of it.

Sweeping it under the carpet and out the back door doesn't quite count.

Baseless/factless accusations. You won't get far if thats all you got.

Complaints were not dealt with at all. Or not anywhere than the masses could see. But whatever, it is pointless 'round these parts.

Ask any of the dozens of people I deal with a day. Ask any of the hundreds of forum users I deal with a month. I answer, respond and give explanations for actions when they are presented to me. You might not like the answer but I do give responses. If some of you don't feel the need to 'bother' me with them then I can't explain, take action or anything else.

And Tarun, this is a very large community. We do hundreds of moderating actions a day. We can not and will not send a PM to every single user who has a post deleted. It's impossible and would require a staff triple this size and there's just no need. The majority of users know why their posts are deleted, and those that don't are WELCOMED and ENCOURAGED to send me a PM asking for an explanation and I always respond. As I have continually stated.

I'm not going to allow the continue of such discussion as it appears that this thread has gone exactly the way predicted with generalized accusations. So I'll close this. If anyone wants to continue this discussion, come to me with complaints or concerns I welcome them. Tarun, thank you for the specific links I will look into them and respond in PM to you.
