thats is unlikely to be changed by better technology (well, it will get worse as we will see theese supa-dupa-cutie characters in better details. )

OK wise guy, reconcile that. The guy is just too darn cute for the burning, shocking, freezing, meat-grinding mayhem of Guild Wars. Yeah, and I didnt even touch the assassin as a class, cause that's too easy.

Yeah, well, what kind of person doesn't like a sexy chic. I personally think they should add blood effects, swing the sword, and you and all your allies get bloodied, you can get scars, and other violent effects.

But I personally think it should be in GW. ESP if the devs make "Decapitate" Decapitate the target.

That would make me lol.

Anyway, we realise most people think it's ugly, and we understand the rest of the people are deluded. (J/K) And the others, well, there just arn't any more.

It's current render just looks kinda cartoony for me. Even the seers looked realistic. I mean, if I didn't get out enough, and had something that said everything in this game was real, I would have believed it. This I would not. Needs to look more real.

yes but look whats in the game, charactes no longer even resemble that, nor do the creatures even look like that, nothing to do with rendering. 2 years from now asuras could look very diffrent if anet decideds to change it based on community response. Im sure duild wars looks like it does now because of focus testing.

Yeah, how dare Anet create something completely different. We want everything the same! The same! Everything must look badass not cuteass! All our armors and weapons must be black and shiny and 10 foot long! We're too manly to have cutesy stuff in the game because it threatens our manliness! We hunt not cuddle! RRAAAARGHH!!

For the love of all things holy if you won't stop releasing minis please CUSTOMIZE them! If for no reason other than the quote earlier about picking them up specifically to sell in game for 50-80k. We all know they will sell for some absurd amount at release don't even try to deny it. Essentially what you are saying is, its ok to buy a couple $5-$6 magazines use the keys to get a mini and sell it for ingame currency...whereas eBaying money is a no no. That seems sort of counter intuitive to the EULA to me as these are essentially the same thing with the addition of some sub par reading material...am I the only one who notices this?

I realize it Icy, your not alone .

Anyway, I found the source that I was looking for earlier, courtesy od google of course.

It's at http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=37986

Also, as seen in the article, I don't think that Eye of the North will be the last thing before GW2... why would an "expansion" (not a chapter) take so long as compared to a chapter? C4 will not be forgotten!

See, this one doesn't work either. The problem is: the first time you compared a new race to three well known iconic characters. The second time, you compared a new race to three professions. If you wanted to do it right, you'd compare the new race to existing races! But at this point it's a bit of a lost cause. If you have to explain a joke, it's not funny and there is no joke. If you have to redo the joke two times.... well that's even worse.

It's funny how some people can't ever, not once, accept that some people have different tastes and opinions than themselves, especially when such opposing opinions are even slightly touching upon not appreciating even the tiniest aspect of Guild Wars/ArenaNet.

And here's my attempt to put my aversion into words:

The Asura would look absolutely fabulous sitting on a shelf in my three-year-old's bedroom. It's cute and looks very well-designed. No question about that. It does not, however, fit my perception and expectations of Guild Wars, and I'm obviously not alone in that.

Disregarding the non-fantastical elements, animals and such, is there anything else in the game you'd put on a shelve in a toddler's bedroom? I can't think of anything, and there's plenty that I would most categorically not put on such a shelve.

I can accept that some people have different opinions, but what's getting kind of annoying is how the people that don't like it seem compelled to come back over and over constantly saying how much they hate it and some people going to the extent of saying Anet is somehow bad at what they do or how it's a copy of some creature from something else.

The people that don't have a problem with it just express that they wouldn't mind owning one and leave it at that. Why can't the rest of you be civilized for once, express the fact that you don't like it and move on already?

I find the Asura rather nice. It's cute and scary at the same time.

I've read countless times from gwonline or here that people wanted different races. And low and behold, Anet shows something original as a race, but since it isn't a generic elf or dwarf, people whine.

Worst line is "Omg omg big arms, GW is turning into WoW, Anet betrayed me !"

Sometimes I wonder why Anet just don't say "f*ck this, they're like rotten kids, we make them nice sweeties, but they just spit on our faces."

Wow, I like it. For this reason.

I can't believe people are complaining that it is too 'different' for Guild Wars. I find it extremely exciting that things are going to be different, a fresh game would be ace.

I also find the creature gives me a sense that the fantasy level is to increase, and I like.

I don't much care about crap like that, really. It doesn't concern me much because it's seasonal. I wouldn't be playing if all of that would be going on all over the place the year round.

Frankly, I don't see the point of minipets at all, except as a source of income. It's not the minipet idea I dislike anyway, it's the idea these Asura things are a full-fledged race in the game world. I don't want to play a game that has Ewoks. Ewoks were crap in Star Wars and I don't think anything looking like an Asura could be anything else than crap in Guild Wars. Just my opinion, of course.

Yep. That's what it reminds me of.

If it's been said, I don't care, don't bother flaming me, I won't read it anyways.

People in this thread seem to be voicing their opinions quite aggressively. Ok, we get it, you have an opinion that you value, you don't have to argue with everything someone else says just to try to prove that your opinion is the correct one.

I'm all for new things in the game at this point. I'm not going to speculate like the rest of the people, I'll just wait until it's released to see what they do. No one ever said GW2 would be like the first GW games, there could be a huge change, and these guys might actually fit into it. Stop whining until it comes out, then whine all you want so we can ignore you even more.

Just a note to keep players up to date:

No one from Anet has said that it will be a playable race or that there will even be a Guild Wars 2.

It's all from a stupid little net article designed specifically to insight the rampant debate that is currently happening within this thread.

They even admit up front that some of what they write is complete fiction.

exactly, you dont have to make the charcter if yo hate it so much. PROBLEM SOLVED!!

There will almost never be a game that anyone finds percfect in every way.

I mean if you were to see an ugly person in the real world, would you want to stop living, just cause you dont want to see ugly people? you cant pick and choose what you want in your world.

just like if there is something ugly in the new guild wars, then just ignore it, saying one creature ruins the whole game is a very bold statment. some people are comparing it to jar jar, and I have to say, Episode one would still have sucked hard even with jar jar, but if it had been good, jar jar would have been a minor thing.

By the guild wars community count, this is about the 17th time guild wars is over cause of something people overreacted about

It's not about being perfect, it's about being acceptable, and that's every individual's choice. Shouting: "PROBLEM SOLVED!!" on the internet doesn't really solve anything for anyone.

I have already mentioned this, and got flamed, and told to shut up.

Although I think customization would be a bit extreme, I'm against the advantage of selling it overpriced to someone who wont be able to get the minipet through the magazine.

Well remember the Minipigs, and those who bought them for 30~20k . Too much profit being made from vanity items, that don't really have any utility besides from showing off.

That's just rubbish happening in the margins, can't be helped and doesn't bother me. It doesn't intrude because it's not a part of the actual gameplay.

Come on all... it's just a pet, one that I personally find, yes, cute, and yes, I WILL buy the magazine & I WILL display it on outposts. If there is someone who doesn't want it, theeenn... don't buy the magazine. Pet issue solved. (btw, it looks like Stitch to me, more than Jar Jar :P :P)
And, with the races in the suposed GW2, well.. that's another story. There are too many unsolved misteries there to even consider the news to be true, except for the fact that ANet IS releasing something and they ain't telling exactly what.

Anyone think of the fact that this might just be the "peasant" variant of the Asura as a whole? Maybe the actual classes, or at least the warriors, are bigger and bulkier and overall more fierce. Maybe not. But whatever I'm going to wait and see on this one.
